When we attempted the Loop last year, traveling up Cape Fear was rough. In the morning we lost our wheel at our upper helm, we had large swells and the current against us. Going 2 kts it was 3 hours of tough cruising. HOWEVER today we are staging from Southport and leaving at 0 dark thirty to hit our weather window before storms come in the next few days. It's time to learn from our mistakes!

ABOUT US
Hi! We are high school sweethearts from Atlanta, Georgia who decided to take a year off to travel around the world. Together we decided to create vlogs for our journey as a fun way to remember it. On September 15, 2019, we left Atlanta with 3 bags, 2 one-way tickets, and 1 goal of traveling for a whole year. Little did we know, 6 months later we would find ourselves in a nationwide lockdown in India. After spending 5 months in India, we came back to the United States and decided to purchase a 34’ Trawler, dive headfirst into boat life, and kick-off America’s Great Loop.
The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny. We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.”, just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem.

When I lived in Wrightsville Beach we would go to Carolina Beach to the amusement park. They had a chair ride that went out over the ocean. As a kid it was so awesome to be out above the water.

Good video....showed how you all function early and late. Also how you have to plan each stop and when to cross bid water. traffic can also be a problem that you must stay aware of. Good trip and time for R & R. Enjoy

You should swing in to Beaufort, NC and see the North Carolina Maritime Museum great history about the the water ways of NC and Pirates. Great little town to stop in good food and local shops. Anchorages Taylor Creek Lat / Lon: N 34° 42.850' / W 076° 39.833' Depth: 7-10 Feet or Town Creek Lat / Lon: N 34° 43.559' / W 076° 39.963' Depth: 6-12 Feet. There is a free dock but you might be too long for it.

Not sure as we don't have much to compare to but that's just how Pivot steers! It'd be nice to steer less, maybe we just have lots of play in it?

Love how well you are docking-last video backing into slip-high winds pulling up to the fuel dock. You both are very humble and real-but you also are gaining more experience and good ability! Kim Russo said on her boat her boyfriend always pulls into the fuel dock before going to the slip just to gain more info on where exactly he is going to. No body really loves the docking part.

That's interesting to hear about going to the fuel dock first... one more plus is you get practice with the winds and current before you go into the slip but one minus would be the fact that you are docking twice 😂😂😂 BUT every boat and crew is different - no right way!

So much to consider when cruising the loop…it’s so easy to take for granted living on land and being able to just get up and go in your car. I so enjoy your videos…so impressed by all you have to do and consider when navigating from one destination to the next. Keep traveling safe!

Cool vid. How do you think a 22ft Tritoon pontoon with a 150 HP outboard would make the trip?

It would make it but you'd have to get additional fuel on board, there is a stretch that is 250 miles between fuel fill ups I think.

have you noticed if your compass (on flybridge) is affected by all those electronics (or you don't care) ? stay safe, Tim and Cat

It is affected when our iPad is close OR when we have the speaker next to it but we hardly use it so it doesn't affect us too much. Its pretty fast to correct when we move the devices away as well! Cheers!

Yea I think thats definitely true. It's more time raising and lowering it but its nice also not worrying about the motor while we are dragging it. Cheers!
