Weird question but why does voices always sound 10x better when singing in an echoey parking garage, bathroom, or hallway and is there any microphone that give that same effect?
Not the owner of the channel, not a professional either, but I hope this answers your question: That's usually called reverb. It sounds really good because it gives a spacey effect to our voice, masking the flaws we make during singing. "Many of these flaws include but not limited to: vocal pitch (flat or sharp notes), misplaced vowels, mispronunciation, tone of voice, lack of breath support, timbre or volume, and so on. " (Thank you someone from 5 years ago in a reddit post for helping me.) As for a microphone that has reverb (or usually called echo), there's cheap condensers that have a dial for that. Though, just buy something good for its price and do it in software.
@@qmigueelgreat explanation! Just one clarification though, reverb and echo are very different things! Echo is your voice repeating and playing again, in decremental stages of volume. Echo time is the duration after which the voice plays. Both reverb and echo are often confused for each other.
I use a Sennheiser E935. It's recommended to anyone. I've been using that cardioid dynamic microphone since high school, and I still have and use it. If I had to record anything with a microphone it would be singing. I already use the Sennheiser E935 for recording my trumpet.
Awesome choice! I know loads of people who use this one! and same here😂 been using the same mic i had since high school and it’s been holding up just fine!
I was so excited when I saw this video in my subscription feed!! I’ve just recently started recording covers on RU-vid and have just been using what I have (which is pretty much just my iPhone at the moment!). I’ve been watching some videos explaining this stuff, but I feel like the way you explained it was so clear and I feel like I understand it a lot better. I would love to record more viola covers on RU-vid with a new mic!
This comment just made my heart grow 10xs!!!! So glad to see that you’re making covers! I checked out some of your videos and I loved your viola playing!! You’re doing amazing, keep on doing what you’re doing ❤ :’)
With the new mics, I’d love to record music of my own and even covers as well! I’ve always been interested in singing but it’s been hard since I live with many people in the house and we don’t exactly have much room or money. I’m hoping by working my job and using any free time and alone time I have to finally learn what I want and to start what I want to do :) This video was very helpful! I love watching your videos especially since I am a beginner myself so I find you add a lot of details but without making it complicated as well :)
With a new microphone id finally have the means to record my singing and playing, it could help me so much as a young musician. A new mic could let me start up my music career and would help me hear myself more clearly.
I’d love to record some of my new songs as an aspiring song writer and musician. My music is my way of truly putting how I feel into a way I can see and hear. I’ve never been great at art so I could never use that. But music has been working as a sort of conduit for my feelings, not just so others can understand them but so I can too, and I would like to be able to record them for others to hear because I know that when people hear songs that have similar experiences to there’s, such as dysphoria or depression or anxiety, it helps to feel less alone
When I was three I have always wanted to become a song artist . When I was in my room singing Let it Go from Frozen.. my dad told me that at such a young age, I sung so beautifully. And when he said that I thought about all my favorite song artists like: Queen, Gorillaz, Nirvana, and so on.. and I wanted to become my own song artist and be the person I have always wanted to be.. It would be a dream come true.
Nice informal video! I'd be stoked to be able to record some originals and covers with those mics. I'm very curious as to how my violin, guitar, and voice would sound through them!
I truly love your channel , Annie. Keep doing the best work and also keep recording the best covers . can I at least get a shoutout from the sweetest youtuber .💜💜 LOVE FROM INDIA 🇮🇳.
As a student and as someone who wants to create music, I think receiving a quality microphone will be beneficial for me in both my academic and artistic ventures. I want to say thank you for all of your fun and helpful videos. You are inspiring and guiding future creatives and we appreciate that!
Love the effort you put in editing the vedioes and would appreciate if you make series where you teach the beginners who want to learn how to sing like the vocal trainings❤❤
Aw thank you so much, you're too kind! Singing can be very technical and I'm not qualified to be teaching so I probably won't be covering that on this channel. There's also the risk of teaching improper techniques that could lead to vocal injury and I don't want to be liable for that. SO, I'd recommend watching videos from certified vocal coaches for the guidance you're looking for! 🧡
I love how you explain everything in so much details but its not overwhelming for someone who has 0 info about mics, the effort you’re putting in the editing alongside the quality of the video is amazing! great video! Keep up the good work👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you so much for this video! I was so confused about all the different kinds of microphones, and apparently I wasn't the only one 😅 I've always wanted to record covers of my favorite songs, as well as getting better at singing and mixing, so a microphone is a must. If I were to pick a few songs to start... probably Idol (Yaosobi), Hated by Life Itself (Kanzaki Iori), and Lower one's eyes (nulut) {any fellow 25ji Nightcord de fans here..? }, songs I've written english lyrics for. I'm super excited to try recording my versions of these songs that mean so much to me! ❤
“Lower One’s Eyes” has got to be one of my favorite songs!! (Project Sekai player here!!!!) and Yaosobi is extremely talented!! Good luck on covering songs, and writing lyrics!!! I hope to cover someday too, and I really like Trickle’s English covers :)
Hi ma'am, if I use the original Shure SM 58 mic With Universal Volt 1 Audio Interface. Can I get a good recording? Noise will not come in the recording ? Will I get crisp sound quality?
Why lie that a dynamic microphone does a great job of suppressing background noise? It picks up noise just as well as a condenser or any other, there is no difference. Personally, this is the case in practice, not in theory.
Firstly, everything happens for a reason and in me considering making singing covers, I decided to look up how to start and landed on your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. You’re a blessing!
I truly appreciate you for making this video. I’m currently in the process of creating music and was unsure of which mic I would need for the best sound quality. Thanks so much ❤.
Thanks for this video! It was super informative and easy to follow. I'd love to use the mics to record my singing. I've been wanting to make music for a while but never really knew where to start so hopefully i'd be able to get it going with a new mic
I’ve been looking to get a mic for cover songs and overall just getting into audio recording. Thanks for uploading this video. I didn’t know any of this information before so this came at a perfect time!
Wow! I'm glad I posted just in time! Hope this video helped and if you have any questions about narrowing down your choices for recording covers a home, I would be more than happy to help!
Hi Annie! For as long as I can remember I’ve had a passion for music. If I were to win a condenser microphone, I would be able to fulfill my dream of singing and sharing my music with others. I want to experiment and bring new sounds to the music world. It would be such an honor to win! Thank you for the opportunity and your very informative videos :)
I'm interested in voice acting and I'm trying to figure out what type of mic would be best. I don't have anything set up and probably won't until I get a grasp on how things work, so I'm working with mostly walls and floors, not a lot of soft fabric to catch echoes. Is a Dynamic Cardioid mic the way to go? or Condenser? Any help is appreciated.
What I am looking for on YT regarding what microphone to get: Hello viewer. Are you looking for a good microphone to use for recording music? Buy this one. What I actually find on YT: Reality is often disappointing...is what I would say but d*mn if you didn't create a really good video, all but forcing me to watch all near ten minutes of it. Shame on you...good job.
Hi I'm Raphael from Nigeria I'm a boy of 12 and my dream is to be a musician but I don't have any money please I need a microphone my mum will get me the audio interface and im saving for a headphone Please i just need a condenser microphone please
Thanks for a great video... which affordable microphone do you think has the best sensitivity? My friend has MSA which has resulted in his vocal cords getting tremors & deteriorating, so his voice gets breathy and cuts in and out to the point that his phone mic can't pick up most of his voice and it sounds like his signal is dropping out. I can't understand most of what he says on the phone, and he is unable to use voice to text. Unfortunately, his whole body is affected so he can't do text to voice, either! Also, could you plug these into a smartphone? Or, would he need to use his laptop to make calls with messenger or zoom, etc.? Cheers.
You are my motivation to record covers❤ I am singing , too. I am boy and idk why many people hate me Abt music 😭🎶 mby if I win mic I will create yt chanell and record ⏺️🎉thanks Annie for your living ❤😭💋
It’s pretty!! And I wanna ask When you record songs, are the guitars and vocals on the same track through the microphone? Or the guitar is a single track? But I didn’t see your headphones in your other videos😮
Ugh! I didn’t see the part about having to comment, but hopefully it’s not too late. I want to win one of the microphones you’re giving away simply because im a singer, who’s struggling to make ends meet… and would love to have better quality singing covers that could potentially bring me an audience. thank you so much for the opportunity to win something so amazing, as i can’t really afford one on my own.
I would love to record my acoustic guitar and ukulele and vocals with one of the three GIVEAWAY microphones! I learned everything I know about microphones and recording music from your channel! Thanks!
Hi Annie! I would love to record my voice and guitar with one of your giveaway mics! Thank you for making these videos, you helped kickstart my RU-vid channel and TikTok since last year! I would love to record a cover of Cherry by Rina Sawayama with the rode NT1 microphone!!
I love this video, i'm really lucky that you uploaded this today since i've been waiting months to buy my first microphone and today i finally decided to go for it. Everyone can see all the effort you put on editing this video, keep going!! Love from Mexico
WOW! GO YOU! So glad you finally pulled the trigger and got your first microphone! That's such a huge step and I'm so excited for you to start recording. This message means more than you know and is the reason why I keep doing what I do. Much love!!
I've been really struggling with mics and all the audio stuff cuz it always just sounds echoey! If I got these mics I would love to use them for vocals and recording my acoustic guitar!! I might even use it for my grand piano!!
This video came at just the right time! I have been looking into making music and it has been a bit overwhelming to figure out what gear I want to get 😅
Dynamic: live performance and drums and guitar and cancel out background noise for talking Condenser: powered by usb and more breathing and natural sounds Ribbon for vocals and natural
Wow....ur videos are cool.I love singing but in india finding perfect teacher for your dream is very hard...i hope ill learn it soon bcz singing is love which controls emotions
Thank you for all the helpful info! I’ve been looking into mics and was overwhelmed by all the options! I’d use the mic for recording voiceovers. Thanks for the opportunity!
Brilliant video, so engaging but grounded and highly informative. I think I’ll be focusing on getting a condenser mic for my vocal and podcast recordings. Thank you ✌🏾❤️🇬🇧🔥
Hey Annie, I really like your videos, so motivating and informative. You make it look so easy and it help us as consumers of your videos understand. If I were to win one of the mics for the give away I would really love to use it to help me on starting my music career🎹. Thank you so much🎶🎤🎧🥁
I guess the condenser mic would be right for me as I need to record both my acoustic guitar and my vocals in one mic. Really thank you for the video, I know there are so so many efforts made for this video. Just know that your efforts are worth it.
