I must admit, I have watched this video at least 4 times. It is the perfect origami video. Sometimes while eating you just wanna watch a display of pretty origami, with some explanations of difficultys or paper choice and this is just that.
First thing tomorrow I'll show this to my family. They think I must have give crazy or something because of how much paper I buy. I need to make 'em understand that I need more paper. Much more.
Haha yeah. And the moment when you have stacks and stack of paper and you need to explain you don't have the right paper for a project. They can never understand
This is Gold.. thank you for the information, I'm just getting started with Origami.. Also hope you don't mind I've included your video on my Origami website . let me know if you need to see it as I can't put links on here. :-)
There's this specific paper I had purchased like...5 years ago, had this cloth like feeling to it and it was easy to fold, and thick, however it was like..woven? Like numerous strings but idk what it's like specifically called and had some neat Japanese styled patterns to them like red and gold themed with other colors, I had lost them since yeah..been a while, but I'm trying to find out what it's called
I pretty much hate tissue foil for most uses. First of all I don't like making it, second it's often an extra hassle to hide the foil, unless you sandwiched it. Third it's hard to get a pretty result. There's plenty of people that can pull it off but t'you get harsh shapes quickly and your lodel gets a bit of a metallic look. Also it doesn't reverse fold at all. So pretty much all it's good for is easy shaping, though still hard to get nicely curved shapes. Like I said in the video: if you can, try using thin kraft instead of foil. It looks better, folds way better and shapes really well too. So yeah I also usually prefer double tissue over tissue foil. Unless if I actually want to give my model the shiny look.
I recognise the deku mask from the origami subreddit. That was you, right? The four elements masks? You are so awesome. The information is really good and you have a really nice voice.
Hi, sorry for the late response. You probably already tried using that paper and I guess it's too thick? If you can find a bit more thin kraft out there it would work perfectly, though it's not so easy to shape nicely. If you can glue 2 sheets of tissue paper together I'd guess that'd work best
Bro greetings from serbia,i have a question. Whenever i search for tissue paper in my town all they offer to me its toilet paper or tissue papaer for nose, idk if there is other name or how can i find this paper,i realy struggle with normal paper, cause i cant detail and collapse complex and super complex models, thanks
Hey, so i have a friend from Serbia and he regrets to say it's not sold there. He did find some (bleeding tissue, lower quality) in Novi Sad, but you're probably best off ordering some from origami-shop.com, allthough delivery is slow i heard. Good luck!
@@firefighterlife7861 the kind that loses its color when treated with mc. Especially problematic when making double tissue as the color 'bleeds' trough.
Hey bro I live in India and I don't have access to any of these paper in large sizes. So, can I use a non-printed newspaper (paper used for printing newspaper)
Hi, sorry forced the late answer. That's a tough one. I'd suppose a long fibre paper like Hanji, but it won't be really strong unless you treat it with mc but then that'll make it less breathable so I don't think I can help you here...
That's odd... Kraft is sold in any paper store. Can also be sold as wrapping paper. You can recognize it by the stripe pattern and it is sold as rolls. The ultra thin kraft is more rare though. For that I only know origami-shop.com
Crepe paper isn't really useable for origami as it can stretch. If you want to try it though do the same as with tissue paper and treat it with mc first
Haha MC, which is short for methyl cellulose. Easiest way to get it is as the little boxes of wallpaper glue powder that you need to solve in water. There's plenty of videos on how to treat paper with mc or if you search how to make double tissue you can find the same. I also show it in my Groot video about preparing the paper. Have fun!
@@PaperFloworigami is MC for making the paper harden? what are the ways to keep models in tact... i use regular paper/printer paper and am just a beginner... the models legs, chests and finer details always widen up and i want to prevent that... (• ▽ •;) i want to use the models for playing D&D so they will have to be durable too... would spray varnish work?
@@betulkorkut5215 the MC is like a glue, to keep the layers from spreading apart like you mention. You can put it in between the layers after folding too. It will also harden the model a bit. To really harden it once in the desired shape spray varnish is a good idea too. Make sure to use matte varnish and spray little amounts in between drying so it doesn't get too shiny.
@@PaperFloworigami oh okay thanks :) maybe using MC between layers then using spray varnish would give the best result 🤔 i wonder how effective just vanish and the MC + varnish combo will be also do you recommend painting before varnish or after? and what kind of paint... that is important too
@@betulkorkut5215 i think i know what you want to achieve. I was also thinking about painting finished models, and the easiest solution was to use airbrush paints. Important thing is to NOT use water soluble paints, and paint it little by little. Otherwise some folds could unfold during painting. The best way before painting would be priming the model with few layers before the main paints. PS: I'm also begginer in origami, but i painted some paper models before. I hope I helped
