Excellent review. Hard to cover all the compact cameras that have been produced but you did a great job putting structure to the various classes. A few models I had never heard of. I think Canon really knew what they were doing with their various Sureshot models

My mum had a Samsung after she did not get film for her Agfa 110 anymore. When it broke I got her a Canon Sure Shot Classic 120/CAPTION used. One of my favorites in that class is the Minolta Riva Zoom 115. Very compact, metal outer, body great AF and quality glass. Those cameras were top, innovative, miniaturised marvels, IMO

Personally, I like the classic point-and-shoot with a fixed focal length lens. Some of my favourites are the Minolta Weathermatic 35DL and the Pentax Espio 115m.

It can't have been easy to curate this list of cameras. I wasn't surprised to see the XL at the end. The PC35AFM is a gem of a camera. I would love to have heard your views on some of the Maitani designs.
