I'd say that you should make a deal with your parents :) I don't really know how grading system works in your country but if it comes down to the final grade talk to your parents and make a deal like the shop does , if u are having financial problems talk to them before the year starts so they would have time to save money !
Same then i could have a whole deck or sumthin because i keep my grades up no Fs or Ds or even Cs because of how much i study so i could have a board or atleast parts
CRΔZΨ JC because he’s been talking in a situation where you go to a skate shop to try out and eventually buy one. He also says that to reassure people that myths like shoe size don’t actually matter and that its personal preference of comfortability.
If you just start go for average sizes maybe get an 8.0 deck with trucks that fit 52mm wheels and jessup griptape, pretty standard, that way you can work up and down from it
I have to be honest, I kind of like it when Aaron gets serious about the technical aspects of skateboarding. He's way more knowledgeable than he leads on most of the time. Of coarse, it was "goofy Aaron" that made me sub in the first place years ago. lol
For real he's actually so humble in the videos and their competitions. I honestly think he could destroy everyone in a game of skate of he wasn't so easy going.
When you see a grown man riding a tricycle down the street, you know he’s a pro skateboarder! I’m back after a year. Applaud me! Lol jk Edit: You are forbidden to like my comment ;)
That's good that orbit do the good grades thing because it gets kids motivated to get good grades at school and study and skate skateboards so it's a win-win situation
When I was a kid, my local skate shop in Australia Ballistyx did the dead or alive thing and they would have them in a bin and you could buy them. Not having any money it was a huge help and the coolest thing ever. I really wish they still did it
i can still remember my first board to the last detail. Zero blood deck. Black silver trucks. black and red spitfire wheels. bones reds bearings. and that old grip jamie thomas used to ride with the cross on it. I miss being a kid.
It's very helpful but things you could have mentioned are: 1. Saying that the nose can be identified by realizing it's bigger than the other end (the tail), and that the orientation of the graphic can usually differentiate the nose and tail too. 2. Talking about why someone would prefer one truck height over another.
That gpa program is so important and people should make that more of a thing everywhere. Its so good to see people making an effort to making skating positive and changing peoples minds about it. And ps all your stuff with anderson was sick just got done watching all those videos and he inspires me. Thank you guys for your quality content and good work towards the skating community!
Try your best to find one bc buying a complete in a shop is expensive and you can def buy for cheaper at a local even if it's further then your nearest option, ofc if your limited on money don't do it!
i have been skating for a while and even though a know lots about skate setups i didn’t skip a second of this, Aaron does this very well and i think its gonna help anyone looking to know more about setups. Great Job Aaron!!
I went to a local skate shop because of this video, and omg I am sooo glad I did. Customer service REALLY makes a difference when getting your first complete.
Imagine donating your old board to a skate shop and seeing someone else skating that board a couple weeks later, that would be an amazing feeling i bet.
I'm a 22 yr old woman with a lower back injury. I want to take back my life and learn to skate! My friend gets so much joy from skating, and if my back is gonna be like this permanently, I wanna make the most out of my life and find joy in a new skill like this. Thank you for this super helpful video!!!
That is Awesome!! I’m 46 and was a skater kid back in the late 80’s early 90’s , and I’m ready to start doing it and ready to start doing it again ! Definitely buying a set up from Orbit ! Great work guys !
I live what you do here aaron. I'm 36 and when I was 23 I was in an accident and now I can't skate but I live coming here and watching you guys and you as a person are just such a great guy it makes me happy to see you helping to keep skateboarding alive. I'm 36 like I said and with my injury being in my leg it makes it hard for me to be active so I'm like almost 300 lbs now and you make me a guy with a bum leg and way way over weight want to go out and get back on a board. My life as a young guy from like age 12 was to be a pro skater and it sucks I got that taken away but I love watching you guys and seeing all the new terms and tricks is awesome. I'm with you man it used to be the baggier the better.
I started skating 2 days ago I’m 20 and I love doing this skating has become the best stress relief outlet I truly love seeing a community bonding over a similar thing As simple as just skating Thanks for you videos I think I might even invest in to my Local Community park just to see more people get out their on the skateboards etc.. Ps I started on a target skateboard 😂 But I got used weals through a friend looking to upgrade soon but everyone had just been giving spare parts here and their and it’s amazing 🤷♂️ I will forever be a skater now 🛹 idc even when I’m 76 I’ll always be skating I hope to soon open up a Chanel just so I can donate money to make better a cooler skate parks.
Yoo, I'm 20 and I think I'm gonna start skating soon! I have a target skateboard (well, Academy, but I'm guessing it's a similar quality) thay I bought a few years ago so I don't know what to expect but hopefully it goes well
I'm 44 years old and getting a new board after 30 years. The shape of the board is throwing me off since my old Ray Barbie and McGill boards back in the day. Thanks for the info and I can't wait to go tomorrow to my local Oklahoma board shop.
It makes a difference but not needed. Just get the reds. A complete with a pro decks and good trucks is 120 (at least when I bought my last one like 10 years ago) skated those reds for ever and they still work fine. Bet if I cleaned them they would be brand new.
I love this channel. 23 going on 24. Never skated in my life but the more I watch the more I want to try. May be a little hard for me to get into with being over weight a little and not much time but it looks like great fun and exercise. Love the videos guys keep it up. Maybe some day I'll but a board and try it out.
I have teach a friend over 300lbs how to skate. Just take your time and learn how to ride-push-balance and turn left and right. Step by step bro ;) started at 23 to wish you good luck you can do it!
Thank you for watching and all of the support! I really hope one day we inspire you enough to get a board and try it out. It really is great exercise and in my opinion the best way to spend your free time.
Dude, what’s crazy is I sit here and think the exact same thing! I “used to skate” when I was a kid. (Hand-me-down Wal-Mart board) I learned to Ollie and how to credit card 😩 but now I’m 22 and over weight and out of shape but want to get on and Kick flip so bad! I feel you man.
Great video. I love how Braille and Andy shrock post videos today about starting skating and how important it is to the community and yourself. Great stuff guys
this was perfect I've been teaching my niece how to ride a skateboard(I personally never learned more than how to ollie) lately and just to learn how to push and stuff I got her a amazon board(i know not the best quality) but now she wants to learn how to do some tricks so I've been looking into how to help her pick her first complete set
Im pretty tall and heavy so i break any board pretty easily. Ive found that the almost impact decks hold up the best. Tensor trucks ricta wheels bones reds bearings. You wont be mad.
bts shit exactly. he keeps saying preference! I don’t have one I don’t know my preference and I want to set up my own board I stuff getting a pre made complete but idk where to start or what I Lomé
Hi Braille is thank you so much for helping my son pick his first skateboard! Your other video helped us a lot and so did this love you channel you helped my son skate thank you so much keep up the AMAZING WORK!!!!!
Well they have video for almost every tricks you want and tel you how to do it in the video. I dont think you can really learn skatboarding by doing a conversation by telephonne/microphonne. + They alrdy made SKATEBOARDING MADE SIMPLE to help other out.
Ah I wish I had seen this a week ago, I just got my first skateboard and got an 8.25 as I just presumed bigger is better for beginners, like it is for surfing. This will be really helpful for my next one though! 😊
I know going big might seem better but depends, if you want to do kick flips, Ollie’s, etc. I suggest a smaller width and if I wanna go skating down stairs or bars, you would need a bigger width for foot support.
Does it matter what size board you get ? Bc I’ve been wanting to learn how to skateboard for a while now but I’m nervous to get one bc I don’t even know what the things are called for the board
joanna h like I said, departs on your foot size. Whatever your feet feels comfortable with but I suggest a smaller width if you want to do flips and tricks that go sliding down bars which is scary at first for beginners.
great video, I quit skateboarding 15 years ago and it's been itching for a while. so after watching this video I went out to my local store and got a really nice setup with your tips in mind. now let's watch your video on how to set it up. great to see u guys inspiring me and others to start or get back into skating. cheers from the Netherlands
@@KPark-hn8jf i dont have a very nice neighborhood and it has bumpy roads and rocks. I need something that can go fast and smooth but can still do some tricks, not the super hard ones. But atleast the basics. What would you recommend?
@@takumifujiwara9072 the hardness of your wheel should be high around 99 thats the best for sandy roads last longer like he saied about board size depends on your foot size so good luck
My parents dont want me to skate and my father said he'll beat me up if I get one but I think skating is beautiful I saved 110 euros and I'll try to buy my first skateboard tomorrow at my local toy shop (they sell skateboards) I watched alot of you're videos and I'm subscribed I think you are really inspiring and amazing ^^
I just learned how to skate using my dads old as heck oldschool Santa Cruz skateboard anf it's do satisfying. I've been skating for a day and I'm already going down extremely steep hills. Idk what im doing but i havent found out a way to stop yet so either i just ride until the speed wears off or i fall. Thanks dude
I am 14 now and wanted to skate board since I was 10 but my parents won’t accept buying a skateboard because they think I’ll hurt myself ffs I am not a kid anymore it won’t hurt I love skateboarding and know what I’ll buy one with no permission just for what I love
Had the same problem, I had to play cello so skateboarding was forbidden as it gives high probability to break your wrists. Now I'm 25 and Braille RU-vid channels are inspiring me to start skateboarding and make my dream come true. I got 2 boys now so I'm gonna try to teach them and learn myself
Hey dude youre definitely still a kid. Youre 14 man not 18. But look man total respect for wanting to ride. But you also gotta give respect to your parents dude, i mean they make the decision for getting you a board since youre livingunder their roof . If i were you id totally persuade them, get safety gear, get good grades, show them you totally deserve to shred. Dont try to be a poser rebel little dude. Get good.
Good idea for a vid. About to buy a new deck for the first time in 15+ years....was just gonna go with a blank but that gold zelda-style Revive deck is sick! And that employee dudebro is baked as hell. :P
I wish I had a local skate shop and skate park because then it’s difficult for me to practice , and what they do with there good grades and get some free items is awesome
This video is great. Good information for beginners, and supporting local shops. I personally have been to Orbit many times when staying in Oakland. Cheers Braille!
I once went to a skateboard shop. I was looking at boards and one guy said that it's better to build my board since i'm a beginner and it wouldn't cost much. But, then a girl came up to me also and told me that it's better that they could make my board for me but it's expensive. I'm very confused now
mine were very nice. when i asked if something was necessary they told me it wasn’t and didn’t lie to me for extra money. i got a complete and just changed out the wheels. unless you’re going to the olympics, completes are great and you can just change out anything if you want.
just looking how to start skateboarding and your video really help me to know part about the boards. thank you and i think im gonna go to my local shops too
Hey bro, just an idea, try going back to the street skating videos, you could definitely get more traction in your content as that’s more relevant and popular in today’s culture for skating
Braille Skateboarding Yes! I thoroughly enjoyed it as it seemed refreshing to see you guys outside of the normal warehouse. Never stop producing, I always enjoy your content and so do many other people ❤️
Can you do a video discussing the evolution of board width from the early 2000s to now? Like, when I started skating in 99 boards were 7.5-8, and when I started again in 2013 I noticed a lot of 8.0-8.5. What caused this shift in that?
THANK YOU !!!! omg I'm glad I didn't buy my fist custom skateboard yet. Now I know about the Swiss or Ceramics because I'm looking for speed. man you really doing a great job for the community thanks again sir. 👌🏽✌🏽
