Josh, absolutely stunning pro practice video for this piece. It was a great idea to play the whole piece in the end. i've struggled with my left hand for a while now so this was the perfect help for me. Definitively agree about Trifonov, I mean..that passion is absolutely unique. Still, I think Gryaznov does the best overall performance of all the etudes on youtube.
The final etude of the Op.25 set, as well as the final etude of the 24 Chopin Etudes...a truly epic piece! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QypaZGnKBNE.html
***** At the rate she's going that will be sooner rather than later! Tell her to keep up the great work! We miss you guys. Thanks again for the fun dinner in D.C.
I find your videos to be very helpful as you do a good job of describing the technique used as well as what you are trying to achieve in practicing the technique and making it musical.
My index finger does not fit (or fits with difficulty) on the G key between the F # and G # keys. How to train it? NB, recently I noticed that the distance between C # and D # is slightly larger than between F # and G # , and also G # a A #.
I know you might not respond to this but, I'm having trouble with descending the arpeggios on my right hand even though ascending is no problem is there anything I could do that could help? (many thanks)
Me: practicing op. 25 no. 12 My 4th fingers: beach time B) Really, thank you very much for all those tips, Josh. Just had a look in your courses, love them
It is advanced, no question. But in my opinion it sounds much harder than it actually is. I just started playing it and I get along quite well. Practise like Josh explained in chords first instead of the Arpeggios. Without wanting to advertise anyone, for another approach to the piece, search for the guide on this piece from Paul Barton (he talks about practicing techniques and tries to take away the fear from this beast). But in the end it always depends on you. Just try it out and see how it fits. If you have never practised arpeggios it might not be the easiest, but the worst that can happen is that you learn more about arpeggios right? ;)
Dear Josh, wath are the lengths in centimeters from the big toe to the pinkie in both of your hands. I want to compare Mines are 20.5 cm for the left and 19.5 cm for the right(From the big toe to the pinkie the max i can reach). I want to learn this musical piece. I will be gratefull.
All that i done, was all that i know, in the which leads me here to ask, "The 5th on the right hand always slips on the Eb in reverse on the way back on down." Any takers?
Hi, josh. I've learnt a lot from your videos. I'm gonna finish all your videos, they are really helpful! Can you please do a Propractice about different touches of fingers?
Tong Qi Hi Tong - check out some of my Josh Wright Piano TV videos for different touches (such as the "Quiet Hands" "Free Hands" and "Pearly Sound" videos). On my website, there is a lessons page where I list everything alphabetically so you can find whatever video you're looking for. www.joshwrightpiano.com/lessons. Best of luck in your studies!
