Chopping Hay Silage On a Dairy Farm! Day Three of First Crop! (2024 Hay Season) 

Thanks for sharing the video. Nice looking feed. It's been hot and dry here in Virginia. Got a rain a few days ago and it's supposed to rain tomorrow. Hopefully grass will take off again soon and I can get a 2nd cutting. I'd already had one if it hadn't gotten dry. Y'all have a beautiful farm.

I am in central MN and I don't know how farmers have gotten any hay harvested. It rains every couple of days. I know this is the kind of June that made me put up a hay silo in 1979. We just couldn't get weather conducive to baling in the mid and late 70's, and now it is back in 2024.

I love your videos. We sold the cows in 11’. Farmed like you guys. We are fairly large crop farmers now and I miss the days of milking cows. Our area looks just like yours north east/central PA. In our township which is like 225 square miles in the 90’s we had 8 dairies. The township my wife had too many too count. None left here. 2 left there. Keep going if you can.

I was the one who ran the pull type chopper, but I was also the only one that would climb the outside of the silo's. So when something plugged up, I would have to go unplug it. Before cell phones were on every hip, so I would wait 15 minutes past when a wagon was due, then go to the silo. Bunker/ piles are the way to go! 👍👍

Aaron, as usual another excellent video. The only problem is just because Darby got stuck didn't mean you had to replace her. She's one heck of a lot prettier than you guys all put together. Lol go apologize to her and bring her back as your 1066 operator.

We always avoided raking hay for chopping. Enough dirt would mix in and greatly increase wear on knives. Als it meant more labor needed and more wear on equipment and increased fuel expense

Corn looks really good in my kneck of the woods 2nd cutting of hay has begin being mostly chopped into forage trucks.

Modern machinery takes a lot of the drudgery away from farming, but pushing hard will leave you tired at the end of the day. Your Dad has taught well the importance of daily maintenance!!!

I bought a mower conditioner. It does not have very many acres thur it for an older machine. I have to do a big repair first. If the last owner was like your brother Mason. , and listened to the mower , it would not need repaired!!! Please show this comment to Mason!

Where is everybody, I'm first! Oh, it's Saturday morning, they're watching cartoons! I never got to watch TV much! Only when I had to chase the Man I worked for kids, out of the house to get the cows, then I'd watch the pink panther while I was waiting for the cows! night milking, Not a bad trade off! And then mostly it was watching the 11:00 news on a little tv in the kitchen while we were eating supper! And sometimes we did something stupid, you can when you're young, we'd watch the late, late, show until 2 a.m. then go to bed and get up at 5 and start over! we'd have to old JD B on the blower, so we would like to hear it bang away, so we'd pile it in to hear it bang away, then plug the pipe up, we thought it was fun, but Dad didn't, he was waiting for wagons

We have the same rake tractor. Ours is a 1650 diesel. The narrow front tires make it easier to get back into the windrows in the pie shaped pieces. Thanks for your videos. Can't believe the hills you guys are working on with the wagons, do you ever have one get away when your switching loads.?

What is the additive in the hopper on top of the chopper box and how does it help?

Hay Rakes? Just curious if you all considered the wheel rakes for your farm? I just remember how much more you could get done with a wheel rake vs the roll bar type rake as in double the time if not more. Just one of those burning questions I have. Thanks for sharing.

just stop using those animals if you actually care about them which is really illogical considering it is a farm that gains profit off of their utilisation and constant painful death just look at these cows, goats and chickens that you've got Do They All Want To Die Do They Want To Lose Their Babies look at them and tell me if they can't feel death and torment if they can't feel loss and betrayal if they can't feel separation and agony (it is a big oxymoron (WE DON'T HAVE TO DO THIS ) just turn your farm into an animal sanctuary if you actually love those majestic and gentle creatures if you actually understand the meaning of life it doesn't have to be what you were always taught to believe it needed to be trust me not all thoughts are a consistency river of right judgements or moral wisdom it's that time when we change those thoughts it's when we let those decisions evolve into benevolence from malevolence people are starting to wake and more and more people are actually starting to make the change and realise the connection because they realized the real value of these animals and it isn't in what they can offer us (IT'S NEVER IN WHAT THEY CAN OFFER US) AND IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO CHANGE this industry is the actual definition of malevolence and you KNOW IT. You look like a very kind person doesn't a kind person understand the value of life more than anyone else
