@@OffTheRanch Matt, I sent an email and a few messages. I can help. 3x world champion in bbq. I’ve helped build pits. I’m less than 2 hours away. Insulated firebox & larger smoker stack will make this thing completely different!
@@OffTheRanchI really liked seeing all the beef, pork, lamb and chicken getting cooked but I kind of expected to see a whole steer on a smoker or spit with it being texas
Speaking of the lighter incident, i notice that the firebox is going to be much closer the the trailer tires... You might want to consider boxing in the back of the wheel wells to provide a heat shield for your rubber. Keep up the great work and thank you for the years of entertainment!
I was thinking the same thing about how much closer it is to the tiers, but hay one way to find out. Hopefully no one is standing right there if it happens.
Oh man a Desperado Renaissance Festival when the weather is cooler would be hilariously awesome! Have ancient pointy pewpew range for bows and crossbows, and there's already a great field for jousting.
Matt, the smoker is looking much better. May I suggest spring wraps around the fire box handles. They can save you a lot of burnt fingers. Looking forward to more episodes from the Desperado Ranch.
I hope Matt shares with the original builder of his smoker what changes he made and how so the guy can modify his builds too! Sounded like he was a nice DIYer that would be nice to support.
You gotta keep Mikey in all your videos. He’s one of the highlights of your channel. Always puts a smile on my face when I see both you and him into some shenanigans. It’s been a tough year, so any smiles are heartfelt.
I am so proud of the flag being flown in honor of Demolitia! And every time you weld I think of Mark. Your daddy sure taught you boys well, he taught you to tackle anything.
Matt one of the best and easiest thing you can do is get you a roll of seal for your lids . You can find it online . When we start having problems with the fluctuations of temperatures we check the seals and replace and make sure it is in place .Another easy thing is check your stack and make sure it is not getting cloged up .Me and my hubby love to use our smoker and after making these adjustments we had no problems .
7:37 I saw Mikey again!!! We love him!! Can we have an episode with a Mikey Q&A? Who is Mikey??🤔🤔 How did you meet? What all does he do for the demo team?
We took train to San Antonio from upstate NY 3 yrs ago, it took 2 days, but it was a great trip. Seeing the back yard of America all the way. Headed to San Antonio in Oct., lost count of San Antonio visits. Bunker Branding here we come.
A debrief after an event is a good idea, you find out what went well or what needs improvement from all the team members, and share cool stories from the event, it'll help for the future.
I’m just saying I’ve been here since I was a little kid. Seeing your genuine first videos always keeping up over the years it’s became a part of my day to get on RU-vid to see if you’ve posted. I lived by, do something today that will make tomorrow better the best I can.i really appreciate everything and I hope to come out one day and see the new resort and just meet you.
Matt you are now a master smoker builder. You just designed and built the most complicated part of the entire thing. WELL DONE! You could so easily design and build one form scratch now!
❤ Hope all your kids had a wonderful first day of school. I’ll bet they are all getting so big. My son is similar in age to Lincoln, he misses watching him and the cool things y’all used to do together ❤❤
I’m really glad I watched this video to the end the whole time you were talking about the firebox which is a major upgrade, but I was consistently thinking about that smokestack. I would absolutely love to see a video on how that trailer was built though I am currently buildinga 275 gallon smoker and I have been back-and-forth on how I wanna do a trailer
Hi, welder from the netherlands here :) personally i wouldnt have uses the plasma cutter. We only use it when its the last option. With a grinder you can have more control and straighter cuts. Still you did an awsome job!!
Yeah, if anything he swapped when he should’ve used the plasma cutter. I would’ve used the grinder on the tank and the plasma on the sheet with a straight edge if I was set on using both 😂
I got into your videos from my dad. I love the videos you make. Keep being awesome, Matt. Hopefully, I get to meet you in person and get to stay at your resort
Hey Matt, my buddy and me also build a smoker out of an old storage tank we cut of one of the rounded sides and lowered it to about halfway and reattached it with a metal plate covering the upper half, it gives it a really slick design!
Hey Matt. Long time BBQ’er here. Your fire box looks great but have a suggestion. My family’s smoker, made by an uncle now deceased, had some of the same problems you encountered. We opened the throat for more heat flow. We installed an elevated expanded metal flattened ‘V’ in the bottom of the fire box. Elevated expanded metal so ashes could fall through away from the coals (ash insulates and will choke off the heat) which improves air circulation and to the floor of the box so you can open the door and drag ashes out. Just a thought on improving the fire box. It helped out our fire/ temperature control tremendously.
I've never built one, but I know fire, and I know metal fabrication/welding. I'd recommend the same. I would have probably lined the side walls with fire brick myself, but... in the interest of utility but not being TOO efficient, so far, this is not a bad setup. And he at least knows he can modify it if he needs to.
Hey Matt. Next time you need to cut a straight line on a curved surface, try masking tape. It's been used to make straight lines while painting but should work for getting your lines to match up. Hope it helps.
Well done, sir. You are a master something when it comes to fabrication and just making things look like that’s the way oughta be. Congratulations again you’re great.
Yes it happened & it was amazing. Thanks again. Hope you liked the stickers & Brandon liked the sign. Wish I had a silhouette of the AK 50 when I did that piece.
I am an amateur BBQ cook and a long time Matt Cerriker and Chuds BBQ subscribe. Also long time Demo Ranch sub even though I have never even held a gun. Love the new collaboration
Matt, weld some brackets off the side of the box about an inch then bolt some aluminum plate to the brackets to create an air gap and the aluminum will dissipate the heat from the sides and not insulate.
Matt do the meat fest bi-annually once in April and once in September this way you aren't in the hottest months of the year. Another cool thought is do a shoot competition with Brandon, Donut, Eli, Crispy and you to kick it off the people can spectate the shooting then enjoy the food. Just some thoughts keep bringing the good content and fun times.
It is nice to see solo Mat work from time to time. It does make you wonder what camera man, Mikey and Jenna are up to? It's like does Mikey exist without Mat and camera man? Does Mikey only move while being observed?
At least we know the lamb had every chance being in yours and Jenna's care, Matt. I think you should put her through vet school and put her in charge of the Resort's petting zoo.
I can’t remember what episode we learned about the lamb! Someone help me out here ok? I wanna watch it again to understand the poor little lamb. Thanks in advance.
Hey player, I'm the best welder this side of the Mississippi, just a helpful hint grind that paint away to help stop the surging and you won't have to grind after you weld too, depending on your skill level 🔥👍
Matt, Meat Fest was a blast, meeting you was an honor, the meat was delicious, the river was cool, the beer was refreshing, and the music entertaining. I handed Jenna my resume that day because I know I can help make the Desperado Resort the diamond we all know it is.
That’s a rad mail call, _ although I’ve never been deployed anywhere I 100% agree that many people enjoy your videos and being entertained by you and the crew.. and thank you Bill Hanon for your service also very very much appreciated 🤙
35:53 “was it necessary or did you just wanna get in?” Said with no hesitation at all. Friends that just know each other that well. My favorite comment in any of his videos ever
Hi, you did good splicing that fire box👍 Make sure you put plenty of weld on that new sheet on the inside, all the way around, as the sheet steel will warp and distore quite a bit. Try drilling a hole and pouring in vermiculite to fill the void after, all helps with efficiency.
Great Build! Building up the box with 1" thick fire brick along the 2 sides under the inside side plates (between the plates you installed and the original insides of the box) would give enough insulation for the sides of the box to make the mesh usable as a warming table. Of course not for plastic or flammable serving plates but sufficient for ceramic or metal. I've gotta say this is looking really good!
I wish I would have found this channel sooner!! You chud and mad scientist are an epic combo legit perfect American Saturday keep it coming dude I’ve been binge watching
Matt, I have been welding and fabricating for nearly 25 years, a lot of that has been in pipe fitting and fabrication like what you are doing in this video. Kudos to you bro. Well done. I built a 500 gallon offset on a trailer and have it here in swfl. It even survived 5 acacia trees falling on it during hurricane Ian in 2022. Split the wood up and used it for cooking wood. It’s my favorite wood to cook with. If you want some help from someone with some know how, or just another point of view from a serious bbq’r/fabricator, reach out. I’d love to help anyway I could.
Such great plasma cuts. Couldn't even tell you've never use one before😬. This is why Branden uses cereal boxes so much. You definitely want to gusset that deflector incase the heat of the fire box weakens the weld causing the deflector to sag over time. Next job is adding an accumulator that you can just bolt a 6" pipe to. 4" is fine but you will need to run it a bit warmer which needs to be babysat more. The bigger the pipe the more draw through the smoker which equates to turbulence in the smoke chamber which means better convection which means less moisture buildup IE all the bark.
