Maybe create a passeneger sub-frame that has the pegs attached to it (as a down facing loop) instead of the current position That way it's effectively hot swappable
@ticosandoval
@ticosandoval Год назад
Was thinking the same thing! If you have to swap the subframe to add a passenger, might as well incorporate the foot pegs into it.
@blackbuttecruizr

Leave the passenger peg mounts, they don't hurt the build to leave them. And the ability to carry a passenger might come in handy one day. Great build, glad you are uploading again!

For the kind of bike I assume you're building, I'd suggest to make it a solo bike and get rid of the passenger foot pegs. Nice experimenting, can't wait to see how it comes out!!

At this point take the passenger pegs off or do a big rivnut with a cap so you can mount pegs later! it's looking good great work!

You can make the rear footpegs detachable just like on modern sports bikes so you can bolt it on/off...

I would say chop the pegs, but put them on the modular 2-up swapout seat frame. Leaving them on isn't really an eyesore either, though. Hm. My mental image of your shock mount is that it isn't going to be very efficient in that configuration and possibly unstable at the angle you demonstrated. No negativity intended, just my feedback. Can't wait to see it finished!

I would trim the passenger peg mount plates and incorporate rear stand spools. I did that on my old Buell tuber. Very handy for service work. If you ever want to go back to passenger pegs you'd still have enough meat to add extensions to the cut plates.

Lots of comments on the foot peg mounts - mine is about the shock geometry. Kudos on the custom work! To might very untrained eye It looks like your alignment is already pretty close to allowing the shock to invert. I hope I am wrong and am very much looking forward to your next video. It's great to see you back with a little more regularity - you and your content have been missed.

Lose the foot pegs, but keep them around if you one day change your mind you can weld them back on.
@sinorman231
@sinorman231 Год назад
me i would leave the footpeg mounts, you could take pegs off and trim them down make them look less bulky, keep them for now they may be useful when making up the exhaust mounting points, you never know if you sell it the new owner may like the idea of having a interchangeable subframe that has a pillion seat on,

I Still think you can do a 1985-86 Honda V65 Sabre. If you did you'd be my hero and likewise a hero to the whole world of Honda Sabre's and Magna's. Rebuild the transmission because of the shitty 2nd gear and the overstated cam oiling issues. If you don't have a V65 Sabre to repair/rebuild I have one with an exploded piston, I don't believe it has the 2nd gear issue or the cam issue. Scott in Southern Oregon

I say get rid of the foot pegs, especially with the unknowns related to the suspension.

I vote ditch the passenger pegs on this one. Or if you want to run them, design a better looking modular system to bolt on passenger pegs with the alternative passenger subframe.

Keep the rear foot peg mounts. As you said it gives you options for the future. When done & you know how you feel about them then either keep or remove. Keep your opinions open for now!

Not really a two up build, I say lose the foot pegs and carry on. Curious to see how your single shock will work out. Maybe look at how some other single shock bikes are laid out and check angles and spring rates.

Hey bud. Consider the part of the frame you will be attaching the mono-shock to. It will mechanically be supporting the entire weight of bike and rider as the bike accelerates weight transfers to the rear of the bike and the shock attempts to balance these forces at some mid-point of travel keeping the rear tire in contact with the ground. Any random cross-member in the existing framework will not have structurally been designed to support that kind of stress loading. That mono-shock attachment point therefore needs to be built = whatever structural loading the original shock mount and frame attachment point could support. I would choose your attachment point. Tack in the basic mechanics and shock. Make sure it travels the way you want, then go back in and reinforce the cross-member and it's tie-in points to the frame with 1/4" steel plate triangles at all joints.

@spaghettilegs9882 Год назад
Remove the passenger pegs, you'll never make another rear subframe for the bike once its fully built. Also the extra load at a greater distance from the pivot point on the shock that you haven't tested yet.
@bobz1736

I think your shock may hit the air box as the suspension goes thru its motion... maybe move the hoop piece to about 45 degrees from the swingarm legs 🤔

@janvanhunks7287
@janvanhunks7287 Год назад
That hoop is too low. The forward displacement rotates downward as the back tyre comes up. You need to make the vertical support taller for rotational force to be relayed horizontally towards your shock mount point under the seat. As for the buddy pegs, this bike feels like a no-pillion boi. Maybe cut them off in such a way you can re-use them mosified later. Big fan! Glad you're back
