The CHOSEN Youth Texas HBCU College Tour is an exciting and educational experience for youth interested in attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). The tour provides students with the opportunity to explore the campuses of various HBCUs across the state of Texas while also learning about the unique history, culture, and academic opportunities that such institutions have to offer.
The tour begins in East Texas and stops at various cities across the state, including Houston, Waller, and Austin. During this time, students will have the opportunity to meet with admissions counselors at each school, learn about the academic and extracurricular opportunities available to them, and see the campuses for themselves. They will also have the chance to meet with current students and faculty members to get an inside look at life on campus.
The tour will also provide students with the opportunity to learn about the legacy of HBCUs and their impact on the advancement of African Americans throughout the years. Students will get a chance to explore the history of the civil rights movement and how HBCUs played a pivotal role in the fight for civil rights and equality. They will also learn about the contributions of African American alums to their respective fields and how their impact is still being felt today.
At the conclusion of the tour, students will better understand the unique opportunities available to them at HBCUs and be better equipped to make an informed decision about their college choices.
