For last night's game looking like it would be a total snoozer earlier this week, the whole Brockman Memo bit made it one of the best games I've seen this season. I was laughing from the very first drive of the game, through halftime, after that ending, while I was asleep, and now as I watch this the following day. Hil-ar-ious. And doom our team to, at best, mediocrity for the next several years? No, this win was the biggest slight on Belichick yet, if there was EVER an argument to fire him, continuing to win this season would be it. The Patriots are the only team that ever gets consequences for "cheating" even when they aren't even actually cheating, now is the time to actually pay in those sacrifices forced on them and make a real move, that move being tank to the #1 draft pick.

Even years after TB left , the drive and passion to win is still ingrained into that team. If you’re going to tank just close up your shop and get the truck out of the NFL. Pats earned that win when nobody gave them a chance. As aSteelers fan we got embarrassed by the better team. Suddenly the rest of the season looks really bleak, might not win another game.

Tanking is the only reasonable move in that environment, and I expect our teams winning mentality to accomplish that, instead they take the biggest L of the season and beat the damn stealers for no reason.

That's not how it works. This isn't the NBA. Where you finish matters. It's exactly why Belichick hasn't drafted an All Pro since 2013. It's more difficult to do so when your team finishes at the bottom of the draft board because you have the greatest quarterback of all time. When you don't have a franchise quarterback, you need to tank. That's how the Colts got Peyton Manning and the Cowboys got Troy Aikman.

My buddy at work is a huge Georgia Bulldog fan. All season he was saying "We aren't 3-peating" until the SEC championship. Then he was stoked saying "If we beat Bama then we will get 3." But to be the next Cleveland Browns! No, that will take at least two decades of absolute misery. I mean, just a couple years ago the Browns won 1 game over TWO seasons. And that was AFTER 2 winning seasons in the previous 17 seasons. Take it from a non-Browns AFC North fan, the Patriots will never be the next Cleveland Browns. It's more likely that the Cleveland Browns will be the next Cleveland Browns. Maybe the Jets. But not the Patriots. Not in my lifetime.

They went 5-11 in 2000, 7-9 in 2020, 10-7 in 2021 because of Josh McDaniels running the offense, and 8-9 last season after Bill spent the most during free agency he ever did. I can't say this was not exactly me, last year as a Texans fan, when on the last game of the year, final drive of the game, Davis Mills lobs a TD pass through the inept intercepting hands of that Colt DB...then on the 2 pt conversion watch TE Aikers almost drop...but end up catching the 2 pt conversion for a win to give away the #1 pick to the Bears...a team that beat the Texans. And yeah, I totally get that 1 year later...it has worked out for us...but, man...I feel ya brutha. 🙂
