Just saw him fill in for In Flames and he did a killer job! He has such great stage presence and energy. Hes constantly smiling and making eye contact with the crowd making sure they know he sees them. So classy
Mustaine makes sure the lead guitarist look the part for sure… chops alone don’t cut it at that position. Kiko looked like he stepped off a romance novel cover
Chris was my teacher and his knowledge is amazingly productive. I unfortunately deployed back to Afghanistan on and off so I couldn't do lessons anymore. I really miss playing with him
Hope that you are dong good man... Chris seem humble and human.. I like his playing and creativity .. Keep up with the metal, and carry on \\m// Peace from Morocco 🤘🙏
It's rather funny because they were in Nevermore together and Loomis tried out for Megadeth back in the late 80s. He would've gotten the job, but Mustaine thought he was too young at the time. Then years later, Broderick leaves Nevermore and gets a job with Megadeth.
I was just heartbroken when Broderick left #Megadeth. He's a complete shred monster! But Kiko is currently rocking stages with Megadeth & he's amazing as well. Yet, Broderick was in different level... His guitar playing always makes me think that he can bend space & times with that kinda skill 😂😂 Anyways, love him 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛
@@nunofrg that's just your opinion buddy.. I never said I hate Kiko! He's a wonderful guitarist/musician. I have much respect for him. And if Broderick wasn’t in superior level.. Dave would never choose Broderick beside him. Fact! (Tho, Mustaine puts Kiko at number 1 favourite guitarist in his list! Be cause he has some killer talents definitely!) Broderick is like a guitar playing robot to me. Be cause of Janic Gers, Dave Mustaine, Chris Broderick, Michael Amott, Alex Skolnick, Jeff Hanneman, Brian May, Kurt Cobain... I got the inspiration to play guitars! I can't disrespect them.. "Superior level" or none superior level doesn’t matters for me (at least)..it's just about skills & techniques! Tnx for sharing your opinion!
@@srrish666 broderick is amazing obviously, and he is a visionary in equipment (pick and he brought so much new ideas on how to build a guitar and its features). but kiko is better in every technique and feel. he is also a way better composer, just check his solo albums, truly masterpieces.
@@nunofrg yes I checked! Those are amazing tbh.. Yet I'll never throw Broderick. He fitted in Megadeth perfectly (for me, maybe not for everyone) I felt REALLY REALLY sad when I heard tht Broderick & Shawn Drover (drummer) left Megadeth together at the same day! Anyways, Broderick & Kiko... they're both equally amazing in my eyes! End of the topic. I'm not here to argue who's better than who.. Thank u
I actually really like the way Chris plays and the scales he uses. I really don’t think he is playing with no emotion. Just because he likes to play fast, doesn’t mean he is playing with no feeling in my opinion.
the whole idea that emotion in music is bound to how fast you produce sound out of the instrument is foolish, i mean how can someone tell what u feel inside when you are playing ur instrument its fucking dumb
I never really understood why people said he plays without emotion. The dude is just incredibly disciplined in his practicing and playing, and he still uses a lot of phrasing in his playing.
I wish he would focus more on phrasing. There's now doubt he has knowledge but I think this band he's in now is horrible. Endgame was a great album with well written songs where the shred had good taste. No doubt that tapping he does is incredible but it's boring when it's just shoved down your throat.
He is a best!!! First time I saw was with megadeth back in time I literally got shocked the way He plays, too fast and He never has mistakes, He seems like a very Nice and simple man He is absolutely gifted
Even if you are completely deaf, simply watching him play is fkn mindblowing In 2009 Dave Mustaine praised Broderick, saying in an online post: "I am going on record and I am saying unequivocally that Chris is THE BEST GUITARIST MEGADETH has ever had -- You got that right, Dave! 💯💯💯
This is a cool ass video because we literally get his D.I. track so we get to hear exact playing. Anyone saying he plays sloppy, I challenge them to play better live in one take! Cheers!
Very down to earth guy and very underrated ? Not egotistical or narcissistic like a lot of guitar players now and days . I bought 1 of his guitar pick holder and I recommend you get 1 it's awesome .plus he gave me a megadeth pick free because he was doing some cleaning the guy is something else man .
lol That wouldn't make you any better of a guitarist. Practice, improvisation and watching RU-vid vids from your fav guitarists would be much more valuable for your development as a musician. At least that way you won't get all star-struck and learn nothing as a result lol.
Paul Gilbert pretty much covers all the basic stuff you need, if you want more advanced then Guthrie Govan is the man... if you want a more philosophical view and a positive outlook at life, Steve Vai is the man..
You already can from Marty and Paul...they made lots of great guitar lesson videos in the past revolving around their respective styles. Paul currently runs an online guitar school.
What a cool and generous guy! I really appreciate the generosity of you sharing this useful info 🙏❤ 9:58 ⚡️ 11:49 Music is not a competition. It’s an art. 12:06 What practice is…Its a game 14:10 THE TIPS! Play slower? 16:30 Fragmenting 29:00 focus on the pulse of the song 👉 30:35 Pick clip
I Love Chris’s playing, been listening to him since his days in Jag Panzer and Nevermore but I really don’t dig his lead sound here. It’s a fine rhythm tone but not for solos. It’s a bit to harsh and brittle and dry for my taste but to ea h his own. I’d like it with a bit more sustain and warmer and wetter more rounded and smooth cause he’s got such killer technique he really deserves a nice pleasing wet juicy tone ya m know smh
He's a mechanical technical wizard on the guitar, but little emotion. I don't think he's a bad player at all... He's great but in my opinion, he lacks emotion. The guitar is a tool to express emotion more than anything else. I imagine how he plays is like what a computer would play if it could. Lots of technicality, but little emotion.
I have his 7 string USA model in trans white. Best guitar I’ve owned. My only complaint is it’s way to heavy and hurts after a while. A USA Jackson is gonna be different than an imported Indonesian Jackson. That’s how all these companies are. If you want the real thing, gotta spend the money. 90% of guitars are all made by 3 factories and the only difference in company name is design and quality control. It’s the same Koreans and Indonesians making schecter, Jackson, dean etc.
AOD rulez Chris inspired me to play 7s as well woth my nand Atanamir great dude had pleasure to meet him after UK show at Chester whole band as well unforgettable \m/
Really inspiring, Chris is such a great teacher and something of an unsung hero (he's done so much for the instrument with his bands and demonstrations).
I like more how he does the rhythm guitars than the leads. Like someone already said, his solos sounds robotic. Although, i think he is a very good guitar player.
There's a free program in the vein of Guitar Pro/Power Tab called Tux Guitar, which can work with both Guitar Pro and Power Tab files. You guys should all check it out. It has become my song-writing main-stay, in addition to Drum Flow, as well as what I use for reference notes while tuning. They're both 100% free, so there's no good reason not to check them out.
he used to be so fluid and smooth when doing those hard solos, now, he is still very good, but you can see and hear the struggle, just being objective, still a much much better guitarist than i will ever be.
Yeah, I noticed it as well, Honestly think its the rig hes running because even the legato stuff just isnt ringing out very well like the signal isn't hot enough.
All I could hear was Nevermore! I also think when whomever you are , when buying a guitar my advice is buy the guitar that feels great. Fuck the name, fuck the hype and fuck the look!
If you haven't heard this guy go Beast throughout a whole song than u need to listen to End This Life - Collector and its Warrel Danes last song R.I.P Warrel Dane
That guy inherited from a style which is pretty outdated now... like the old intellectual metal brother who doesnt want to let go ahah but he his legendary. Man, what a killer guitarist. He lack a clean tone in this clinic... too bad.
Broderick is a very great musician, guitar player and personality. Besides the excellent knowledge of theory and crystal clean playing he respects his body and keeps it strong against the aging or against extra the difficulties of being on stage long time. It might be either for good looking whatever... I have always curious for Jason Newsted, Ulrich or other skinny musicians not interested about sports, gym etc. We read that Jason injured very bad just because to catch the falling amp. Maybe He could overcome with minor injury, I dont know..
I mean fair enough. I think he does have emotion in his playing when he's playing something he really likes. Check out some of his classic stuff, pretty crazy. I feel sometimes music he isn't 100% into he feels disinterested in playing.
Does Chris have an instrumental solo release Im missing, Ive gotten so sick of all the Cookie monster dog barking screaming crap so annoying when everybody does it..Like now you dont have to have a musical ear to sing anymore , you just have to growl and grunt and squeal and yell. So boring. AAAHHHRGGGGGGGHHHHH.
As a metal head in school I was in science class and our teacher says, the heaviest thing in the universe is a black hole. I raise my hand, negative the breakdown in domination is heavier. 🤘🏻
