Should LeBron win MVP every year?

No. Stop with this already. We all know he's been the best player in the NBA since 2008. But the MVP is voted on a yearly basis, and for as great as Lebron is, it's out of his control when another player just so happens to have an outlier, best season of their career. KD had a better season than Lebron in 2013-14. Better advanced stats- PER, win shares, net rating per 100 poss. It's the best season KD will ever have. Last season, Curry had a better season than Lebron. Led the league in literally every single advanced stat possible, led his team to 73 wins. You really want to argue someone else had a better year? You want to keep arguing that Lebron gets robbed of all these MVPs when, with the exception of DRose in 2011, the person who actually won MVP had a better statistical season than Lebron. The four years that Lebron actually won MVP, he easily had the best statistical season. The voters aren't as dumb as you Colin.

John gee I love Kobe but by 2008 Lebron was averaging 30 8 and 8, leading the league in all advanced stats, while leading his team of role players to 60 wins. I gotta give the man credit.

LeBron is not MVP this season. Colin thinks just because LeBron is a player that every GM would wanna build there franchise around even at 32 he deserves MVP every year. I'm pretty sure LeBron doesn't even care about the award anymore. For a couple years now he's made it clear his focus is championships for the rest of his career.

Makuochi Igwe underperforming to what standard? They missed their starting SG for 40 games. Missed their starting PF for 20 games. Their second best player is a 25 point scorer who does nothing else well. Doesn't make his teammates better. The rest of the squad is a bunch of guys that are over 30 and can't put together consistent stretches. The team has no rim protector and the team defense is bad. If Lebron was not on this team, they would not win more than 30 games.

I would like to use the argument from the NFL this year. We all agree that Tom Brady is the GOAT. If he is the GOAT, then why doesnt he win every year? For example, this year, Brady had an MVP caliber season but he wasnt MVP. That doesnt mean that he had a bad season and statistically speaking, he had the best year of any quarterback at age 39. But Matt Ryan still had a better season and Ryan deserved the MVP. If it was given to Brady, it would almost take away from the fact Ryan had such a good year and giving it to Brady just because he is the GOAT. Thats how I fell when they say Westbrook vs. James.

Kobe's 14th season was in 2010? Last I checked, a championship, averaging basically 30 ppg in the playoffs, and a finals MVP after one of the most fought out game 7s ever vs the NBA rival Boston Celtics was a pretty good season Mr. Chris Broussard. Also, Lebron is straight outta highschool. MJ was still winning championships at Lebron's current age, but he had already retired once and went through 3 years of college.

Why is "rest" a story? How about teams who "tank" the entire season? 76ers? CLE a few years ago.Teams throw seasons away. That is not fair to fans. But when the Cavs or Warriors sit 1 game, everyone throws a fit. They are sitting to better their chances at winning a title that year. Get mad at the teams who don't even hide the fact that they aren't trying to be competitive.

When people talk about how the players in the good ol' days flew commercial, didn't sit, etc., they forget that players didn't play as well when they did that. It's just that back then nobody took that into account. If everyone is wiped out and injured, the playing field is still level. Now, when people strategically rest for the playoffs, the teams that don't are at a disadvantage.

Lebron is not the MVP and I honestly don't understand why he keep saying pushing. It's a regular season award, nothing to do with the playoffs just the regular season. In said regular season the cavs have the 5th best record in the league. Now sure Westbrook who is one of the candidates has a worse record but he has no one else on his team. Lebron has kyrie Irving and Kevin Love isn't as good as Kyrie but is still a good player and an all star. How come the warriors get so much flack for having 4 all stars when the cavs have 3? Cmon now. Now normally I'm not a fan of this argument but when you take someone like Westbrook or harden off their team those teams are basically lottery teams. Say lebron gets injured, the cavs after a readjustment to Lebrons absence are still a playoff team. Title contenders? No but playoffs with two stars and a decent bench with shot makers? Yes. Lebron is the MVP if you want the best chance at winning a title. But it is a regular season award, not who's most valuable to a championship. Ugh

The 4-21 record without Lebron is overblown. When Lebron rests so do Kyrie and Love so the record makes sense. Give Kyrie and Love 21 games without Lebron and the drop off is significantly smaller.

If players want to rest, let them rest at home games. Some people travel a couple of hours, anticipating to see the greatest players and don't know they're not playing until they get there.

First, the rating are bad because the level of play in the nba sucks compared to what we've had in the past. Not only that but also the lack of parity (we were 99% SURE ABOUT who is going to make the finals) makes the league boring. The resting of the players only adds to it but it's not the primary reason. The level of play is the primary reason. Lebron is not the best player in the world. It's a debate where Westbrook is in the conversation, so as Leonard, Durant and maybe others. Nobody is really above the league nowadays. Last thing, Isiah Thomas is having a better season than Lebron. He should be higher in the MVP voting. The only reason why you don't hear it as much is because Isiah Thomas is not really famous/popular. But anyway...

It baffles me how people can use the line, "he's the best player in thw world... but Westbrook is the mVp." How can you be the best player in the entire world, out of 7 billion people, and not be VALUABLE to a team. The whole argument is inherently flawed. Put LeBron on ANY team in the league and they will be playoff contenders if not in the finals.

Just keep the season the same length but have teams play each team just twice. So it'll be a 60 game season which it less wear and tear on the players and completely eliminates back-to-back and four games in five nights. On top of these, the playoffs have to change to a 16 bracket and that's a better layout the East vs West

I forgot when real people with real jobs were able to mail it in and get paid 8 figures for not doing their job. They also get 3-4 months off where all they have to do is stay in shape. Westbrook is resting tonight on the road. He is not playing all 82 games. What happened to the argument of, "think about the hard working parent who paid their hard earned money to take their kids to see Westbrook" argument? Vama Vindicate Kawhi doesn't do nearly as much on offense as the other 3 do because his assist numbers are down. And while he is the best individual defender amongst the three, his impact has not been seen this season. The Spurs have had better defensive numbers when he has been on the bench. And I will still say Lebron is a more versatile defender than Kawhi because of his strength. He can defend PFs and Cs.

Reduce the regular season so the games mean more. Do like the NFL does. Let's take Chicago as an example. Let them play every East non division twice (2×10) and division teams trice. (3×4) and each team of the West twice (2×15). That would give teams 62 games. Less back to backs and games especially within conference will mean more.

If I'm Adam Silver, I should start a one game playoffs to determine who will qualify for the playoffs because these resting senarios is getting out of hand. The Nets resting six players instead of player all of their players for pride and dignity, I know the team sucks but players have to play like their jobs is on the line and they basically giving the Bulls a gifted win and to make their situation worse, their not getting a first round draft pick because of the trade with the Celtics, the Nets are possibly going to get fined one day. I want my Heat to be in the playoffs because it will be a great comeback story but no matted what happens, I'm happy they turn the season around.

The only players that should be in the MVP conversation now should be Westbrook and Harden. Both had a better single season but I still think Lebron is the best player still. One more point, everyone's been talking about Westbrook's doing someting that will go down in history but so many people don't bring up the fact that Harden is the FIRST person in NBA history to total 2000 points/assists in a season. They need to make an award (maybe named after MJ) for the best player and separate the awards.
