Byrd in comparison to Vitali was physically much smaller, including height and reach, however over came this with phenomenal head and lateral movement and really frustrated Vitali. This was best performance I've seen against Vitali except for Lennox Lewis. Vital still landed in this fight and i believe was winning but his power was deflected by Byrds tactics. Byrd was coming back into rhe fight but Vitali really did not show the heart of champion in retiring in this fight. Look at Vitali Vs Shannon briggs fight, despite a torn bicep muscle in the first round and the brutal beating Shannon Briggs took he did not just give up like Vitali.

I remember this fight very well. Characterized by constant illegal ducking by Bird. Klicko was clearly in the lead, but then he injured (broke?) his hand. Western media criticized him for ending the fight. For him, it was more important to stay healthy, heal and be ready for future fight then show false pride.

Byrd was keeping his head at vitali's thighs level! It's illegal and stupid! It was like winning a lottery for byrd. Absolute luck.

The biggest myth in boxing is that Vitali was dominating Byrd, or that he was somehow simply retiring from injury. It's a lie. Not only was Byrd outboxing Vitali, he was beginning to hurt him and wear him out ---- which can be seen by Vitali's mouth breathing wide open and diminished punch output. He was about 240+ and 100% KO rate here, yet never scored a single knockdown or wobbling the diminutive Byrd. Byrd's old school skills and parrying and rolling were gone unseen by the ignorant commentators and media.

There’s no way Vitali could ever get beaten by a white guy. 😮

Крис заставил соперника промахиваться и сам доносил до цели весьма чувствительные удары, заставляя Кличко пятиться к канатам. Возможно, лучший бой Криса в карьере. Те, кто считает что Кличко вёл на момент остановки...полагаю, они смотрели какой-то другой бой;)
