I do agree with you though nick. Colman is awesome, I totally love his style. He is one of the best, all those guys are great and I can listen and learn from all of them all day long. Virgil is just kind of.... Not normal.. In a good way.

Virgil donati always takes things to the next level no matter how high that level is. I have been studing him my hole life a long with others and he is without doubt the best and most complex drummer that has ever lived! How can we se the rest of his solo in this clip?

Well I'm a huge Donati fan and I love Chris Coleman but I preferred what Eric Moore did here.

Who is the "old man" talking to or referring to? I agree there are legions in the drumming world, unforgettable ones but fuck let's be real, who is doing what Virgil is doing? He has taken everything to an extreme level he's is by far the best drummer of all time. There are plent of other greats I know iv watched them all all my life but donati is bordering being sick, the guy is fucking mid boggling, AMAZING!!!!!!!!

CHRIS COLEMAN is THE KING of timing, precision, power, and speed etch.!! Eric is also the best and creative. Virgil is also creative and revolutionary! but Chris is far away from Eric and Virgil ;)

Why did Virgil get cut off? - that short segment already shows how much more dynamic he is than the other blowhards are. They just hit random fast bs and overload all the drums and cymbals in their loud and mostly obnoxious way. That get ooooooold

virgil donati isnt fair. i have trasncriptions and videos from a clinic of his i saw a few years ago, and i still cant believe the things he is capable of playing and making it look like its easy...

NO ONE is doing what Donati is doing. Period! If you ask guys like Chambers, Blackwell, Colman ect they all will tell you that donati is far more advanced then any other drummer. I know iv seen them all and asked what they thought of Virgil. To add to that, ain't know one hit harder while playing at speed in some weird distorted multilayered grove then the man VIRGIL DONATI. People need to be real hear. Fair enough you don't have to like what he plays, everyone is different but people at least need to understand and appreciate what is the truth. All drummers would tell you and agree, from Weckl to Chambers, Colman and all of them, that Virgil Donati is extreme and the most advanced drummer of all time! I'll go as far as saying that the world is going to be waiting a long time for another Virgil, in fact it may not see anyone of his capabilities again and if it does, who ever it is, you can bet they will base a lot of it on what Virgil has already done!

This made me laugh and smile just because Virgil is on a completely other level that Eric and Chris aren't on.. Don't get me wrong, Eric and Chris Coleman are fantastic drummers but Virgil is just something else. LOL

eah when virgil plays, sound's totally different, he is very musical he has a own original technic. Actually every black drummers are great too, they are so fast, musical etc. , but just one thing I never understand, when some of black drummers talked about drumming during their interview, they always like to say ''I love Tony Williams many times also, I worked his a lot of technics'' really? well I can not hear any music or idea from them, ofcourse they dont have to be like him, no!!!, but why they always do same mistake. it's not a big shame if you dont understand Tony Williams playing. But it's big disrespect if you say lie and your playing come from Billy Cobham (legend drummer-drum machine). who played real thing still curious? are you crayz? of course Tony, Elvin Jones, Buddy Rich, Billy Cobham (almost all black drummers play like him today but they always say tony williams??I think you shame from Billy Cobham you here me?? are you disingenuous???))
