Listening to Sinead O'Connor sing this, and watching her video, we watched her cry. Listening to Chris sing this, and watching this performance, he made us cry.
I heard this version the day after he died, and I cried so much during the listen. It's so soft and beautiful and haunting all at once. No other voice like his, and he is greatly missed. Loved your reaction to this, guys!
Yes, Prince wrote this and he recorded it as well. It is on his greatest hits CDs, and he released it on an album. He was not at all happy when it was taken by the recording studio and given to Sinéad O'Connor. Sinéad O'Connor's version was a cover as well, although they did not tell anyone that. This was supposed to be a tribute by Chris when Prince passed away if I remember correctly.
@@omen1513 No, it was written for a band Prince produced in 1985 : The Family (now FDeluxe) where his girlfriend Susannah Melvoin (twin sister of Prince guitarist Wendy Melvoin) was the singer. You can check out on YT their original and the version they did 7 hours and thirteen (not fifteen in Sinead's cover) after Prince passed in 2016.
@@caseyyordy6188 No, Prince recorded it first as a vocal guide for a band he created in 1985 : The Family (fDeluxe). This song is in their only album produced by Prince and the lead vocals are by Paul Peterson.
Makes me cry every time I see it! RIP ❤️ Chris Stapleton did a live impromptu tribute to Prince singing Nothing Compares To You and playing guitar. Drop dead fantastic!
I grew up loving Soundgarden. I’ll never forget... I was in a small shop wasting time at lunch one day on May 18, 2017. There were several “kids” running the shop that day. I had to have had at least 20 years on them but they were playing nothing but Soundgarden and I remember thinking how cool that was to me. Woke up the next morning and read the news that he had died the night before. That coincidence seemed to make it hit that much harder. One of the greatest voices I’ve ever heard.
Chris has an endless treasure trove of originals too. If you like this you will love Fell on black days from this same session and When I’m down live at the Troubadour. ❤️
I've seen this many times and I still almost cried after the first line.I love the original but I'm a huge Chris Cornell fan R.I.P. Chris I miss you so much, great choice guy's,new subscriper here, love the channel
Written by the Late Great Prince ❤️ Made famous by Sinead O'Conner ❤️ ❤️ Hearts & Souls touched by Chris Cornell ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ **SOME OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VOICES, COME FROM THE MOST TORTURED OF SOULS (RIP)**
I say "NOTHING COMPARES TO CHRIS CORNELL". He was a beautiful, talented man with the most powerful voice. He passed on my birthday, worst birthday ever!!!! My love to him RIP, and his beautiful family. I hope he wins the Grammys he is nominated for posthumous. He is nominated for this song and also rock album. He deserves it and so does his family!
Iove watching faces when they react to this song when they first hear Chris. I've been asking people for 30 years... "DO YOU EVER HEAR THE EMOTION IN CHRIS'S VOICE AND WORRY ABOUT HIM?" CHOICE ONE - HE'S SO FUCKIN GOOD HE CAN JUST GO THERE. CHOIce2... He always feels it. Eternally depressed. I love watching my buddy ol guy Mike...he GETS INTENSE INTO SHIT And this one kicks his fuckin arse!
In the 90s Elton John even said he was the voice of rock.. now that is some high praise! such a tragic loss to music! I have loved him since the first time I heard Rusty cage from Soundgarden AND Temple Of A Dog: Hunger Strike which BTW just celebrated 30 years ago it debuted! I always like and respect Sinnead's version but I am so with you that this version is soo much better! thanks guys good one be safe cioa for now
Please react to Chris Cornell's group Audioslave songs "Show Me How to Live" and "Like a Stone". Chris's vocal range, in my opinion, is really on display with these songs.
Hungerstrike by Temple of the Dog, which is Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam is a MUST!!!! And actually, the original of Nothing Compares to You is written and sang by Prince
Yeah, Blokes. Prince did record it, but never put it on an actual full length release. Sinead O'Connor definitely made this song famous. I agree with you though, this version tops everything. Thanks for sharing!
He could sing the phonebook and I'd listen. And his ability to make you feel every word ads to his mystique as arguably the best vocalist in rock. Ya'll should really delve into his work, you'll be glad you did and will be better for it, trust me. Audioslave, Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, solo work, covers, etc. doesn't matter where you start.....just start.
What a great cover. I’ve mentioned before please do a reaction to Humble Pie either Black Coffee on the old grey whistle test or their acoustic cover of For Your Love by The Yard Birds. Steve Marriott had such a big voice.
This is such a great song. I've performed this version of it ever since I heard it. I sing and play rhythm semi pro I suppose. Well... I did anyway. Back when you could make a living performing in front of actual people. Now, not so much.
If you guys didn't yet you should check out Bad Wolves "Zombie" cover. I think that would be another good one for you since it was such a big song over there.
Now you have to listen to some Linkin Park, Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington both sadly tool their own lives and they were good friends, Chester took his almost a year after Chris on Chris's bday if I'm not mistaken, they both had their demons, but both had powerful voices and great talent
Hey, guys. Love your channel. Could you do a reaction on 2Cellos? I think you'll love it. And they represent my country so maybe i'm a bit biased. But they are awesome. I recommend Thunderstruck by 2Cellos. All the best to you guys :)
To go to the other end of his voice, check out Cochise by Audioslave. Dude can belt plus you have Tom Morello backing him up on guitar. Can also check out his cover of Patience (originally Guns N Roses).
I don't think Prince ever recorded it. A group on his late, The Family, recoded it in 1985, though. The Sinead version was huge in the States, as well.
If you do his cover of Billie Jean I recommend the live at MSN version. Sooo good. He’s one artist I almost only listen to live versions. How many people can you say that about?
Chris's version of "I Will Always Love You" in tribute to Whitney Houston is also pretty amazing: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KOvH5LSH9Sw.html
I think u should do a reaction video of Michael Jacksons Billie Jean and Chris Cornell cover of Billie Jean n the same video then share which u liked more! Have tried getting multiple ppl to react to these 2 together but nobody done it yet, I think it would become a popular video
This is off subject but I'm curious about the word bloody and it's use in UK. Is it profanity? I was joking with someone from England and he kind of chastised me for using it
Prince was great, Sinead was great, but next to Chris Cornell's voice... Both of them pale in comparison. On his day, nobody could take this guy. In the studio, Chris was an easy 10/10. Live? Haha. 12/10
