I was in Michigan during the Fall of 1984 & this song was getting play on the radio. I didn't really hear it anywhere else on radio & I didn't hear from from Chris de Burgh again until the insanely popular Lady In Red in '87.
Supertramp and their road crew made his life hell when he supported them back in the days. Here we see John Helliwell playing saxophone in his band! So who got the last laugh?! 😀
@@donut6876 Not sure that I detect any auto tune here but he clearly is passing the most difficult part of the song, the chorus, to the audience and only coming on the very end of it in falsetto.
@@donut6876 Plenty of bands use auto tune and some like KISS use backing lead vocal tracks so what's your point? Dude's like almost 70 years old and is still out there playing and singing for his fans; how old are you and what band are you singing and playing for?
This performance is so heavy with autotune we can't really be sure what he's singing. Pretty much every single word sounds like robot. Which is such a shame as this is a very interesting arrangement but the robotic vocal completely ruins it.
Merci internet qui me permet de retrouver des morceaux de musique 🎵, sinon ce serait resté dans un coin de ma mémoire sans que je puisse mettre un nom dessus !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was a Junior or Senior in High School when this single surfaced. I remember feeling disappointed that it came and went so fast. But I looked it up today and it made 44 on the Top 100 in the U.S. Better than I remembered. :)
Good sound and band. Hard song to sing back in the day let alone over 3 decades later. With that said, I don't care for it when an artist has the audience take the Chorus every time!!!
Wah. That guy's head voice is really strong for a guy his age. He's struggling, but he's making it. Robert Plant and Ian Anderson couldn't hit such high notes at the same age.
its not head voice... its fake voice in high notes... he always sung high notes in fake not with his real voice but its ok since the difference is small... a fake voice can be equal to a real voice in high notes if you have the ability to do that...
@@mossion been theatrical can be done either with head voice or fake voice... its just a different way of hit high notes... you can achieve great either with fake or head voice or a mix of both.
Great performance with a fantastic ending :) I was fortunate enough to see this song performed live with the full orchestra on the Beautiful Dreams tour almost 20 years ago - sounded so powerful!
