Please invite Bo Burnham! You’re one of the few podcast host who would have a perfect synergy. Your comedic geniuses, your self awareness and perceptions about the world as it is would align so brilliantly. You’re both my monuments in comedy. Thank you for your content, I hope you’re satisfied with your podcast because I sure am. (sorry for mistakes, English is my second language, I’m also Canadian so that explains why I feel sorry, I guess…)
When New Yorkers tell stories, they always mention the location ("between 5th and 8th") non-chalantly like EVERYONE would and should know where that is 😂
It’s funny you mention that. My moms family are all from NYC & they refer to peoples homes by the address number. Like instead of saying I’m going over to see Nanny & Pop pop they would say I’m stopping by 470. Weird I know
I’ll say as a father of 2 bc Chris sees he need to work on himself as a man and a dad he’s doing a great job! It’s a nonstop cycle of never thinking you’re enough and hoping you’re doing a good enough job! All parents struggle with this!
36:00 I've literally never heard of someone meditating with their child, even from devout spiritual people, practitioners, etc. Chris is a wonderful father.❤
It has nothing to do with wanting to or being able to. But there comes a day in every man's life when you truly don't care about sex and it is one of the best days of your life because you realize how much stuff you do just to get laid it's like 80 percent of your life. Clothes jobs cars exc. It's crazy freeing. That's why old men are happy they are toddlers with $
definitely. And I love the juxtaposition with the planned structural blocks vs bullshit that just pops up. Schulz's episode was a letdown because they were all a little random.
Neal, I keep saying this but I really enjoy the show! The little things like at the 11 minute mark when you pop up that graph showing mosquito deaths are so great lol.
Omg. Coming from a woman. Chris is 10000% correct about insecurities of men. I’ve never ever heard another man admit this!!! Way to have insight Chris! Agree in women just as bad!
The insecurity talk at around 10:30 sounds like something Chrissy regrets he did in his past that he now fears for his daughters. He doesn't want his daughters to meet a young him pretty much
That he did or saw his friends doing ie being disrespectful or rude to a woman to look cool in front of the friends. Good news /bad news: by the time his baby daughter is dating, there won’t be guys and girls anymore it’ll all be non-binary
Love Chrissy! Want him to have a podcast with Jazzy. Also, NEAL! You are Genius! More ads when you’re out and about! I want to people watch your area while you read them!
As a child of divorce he describes the exact issues I still face today. Catastophic thinking that my loved ones will vanish randomly. If my wife or kids dont pick up I assume something terrible had happend.
100%, this was hard to listen to because it was so obvious what was going on and he'd just talk endlessly, maybe to control the situation, idk. This guys psychology is one hell of a mess, and it didn't seem like he's getting any help.
Easy, the not wanting to be alone and the quiet thing are all about chaos. New York is a place where you literally cant be alone because you are constantly surrounded by people and noise and visual stimulus and a million other other things. That constant stimulus loop becomes addicting (and if Im not mistaken Chris has spoken about addiction issues in the past) and something you expect and something you need, and in the case of New York, theres nothing like it anywhere else so that yearning for it makes complete sense. Its like people who cant sleep without a white noise machine or music playing or whatever it is, they just need that thing there taking up space to make them feel connected to something.
Shout out Mike Vecchione whose "Worst Kind Of Thoughtful" special laid what I feel like was the groundwork for y'alls riff about how great social media is compared to seeing a kids first step. Your kid is reaching natural milestones while this seal just walked out of the ocean, probably better than your stupid kid, comes over to the podium and bangs out a concert. I call him Beethoven. (That joke was really about global warming) No Disrespect, Chris is a funny guy!
Really like this series. Would it be possible to add one solid minute at the opening of the guests act? Some of these comics I’ve never seen and the contrast between the stage act and the real person would add to your show.
That triple bottle zoom was hilarious. I thinks that’s the best one I’ve seen. A zoom shot is like the comedy straight man but it’s hacky when not done right.
The masculine insecurity block is legit though! - Feminist authors and legal scholars show causal links between patriarchal/heteronormative gender relations and militarization. Concepts of security (national security, economic stability, etc.) are deployed in all aspects of our social order. At an extreme example- international relations and armed conflicts partly stem from a male dick swinging contest. Obviously there's other factors, but yeah, Chris was right... one of the reasons Hitler became what he became and deployed anti-Semitism in such a violent methodology was that he was a deeply insecure and anxious person living in a Germany that was previously emasculated on the international stage, with a ruined economy, and in need of a social bogeyman/scapegoat.
Can not wait for when he gets Chappelle on and they go back and forth on their friendship and how they came up and what their problems were and what they are now
