"Releasing Myself" is the debut single of Chris Elle, a 19 year-old singer, songwriter and self producer from Greece.
LYRICS:
Everything changed in the way you look at me
I’m not the villain so why won’t you talk to me
Feels like this flame we had in the past
Is slowly fading away
Ohh
I, I’ve given this too many shots
I’ve cried too many times and I should have not
Rejecting my friends’ advice
And they were never wrong
Releasing myself from this hell
You never truly deserved me
You will never surely concern me
I only direct me
Releasing myself from this cage
I leave you behind without envy
Finally I let myself be
Now the past looks like a whole other world
What the hell was I doing to myself
Every night I wondered why was I sleeping beside you
With this madness you have inside you
Ohh
I, I’d given this too many shots
I’d cry too many times and I should have not
Rejecting my friends’ advice
And they are never wrong
Releasing myself from this hell
You never truly deserved me
You will never surely concern me
I only direct me
Releasing myself from this cage
I leave you behind without envy
Finally I let myself be, ohh
Broken pieces, Too many reasons
Seems so seamless After all
I feel so stupid I’m only human
I wanna love and Be loved.
"Releasing myself is about freedom and the realisation of self-worth and love. It is not a typical heartbreak song. The meaning is deeper and holds a great amount of psychological value. I wrote this song on my piano when I was 16 years-old, as you can imagine I wasn't going through a tremendous break-up at the time, I often tend to be influenced by feelings of the people that surround me. For me though, this song is metaphorical and also has a sense of manifestation."
