I'm building the Japanese version of this privately (getting workshops to do the physical work) and its so hard. There is so much involved in creating a polished car even if, at face value, the mechanical changes are minimal. This video gives me hope that maybe what i'm trying to do will be worth it in the end?

I'm old enough to remember people like Pinto driving Alfa GTAs against Lotus Cortinas (with Sir John Fitzpatrick) in the world touring Car Champs in the 1960s. The GTAs were known to have superb balance and handling. Brilliant cars, wonderful drivers; the best of times .... !

This car was always excellent. When Alfa Romeo was producing these cars the other manufacturers, were producing ... tin cans with wheels. Especially some German automakers, that even today, they never made a car as good as this one. Even the 1.3 liter was very fast, with lots of torque, exceptional sound, and control out of this world.

For me, there are only one real sportcars .... the italian !!! If you never have driven an italien car, you don`t know what it means to drive a beautiful exciting and emotional car. Every fiber of my heart loves these cars. Especially my 3.2 busso. This is real love

Exactly what is missing from modern cars; simplicity. I know most of the day to day muppets who don't care about cars, want all those ruinous gadgets and bullcrap, which plague the industry currently, but I wish all manufacturers would at least take the time to make a cost efficient, simple sports car, like they used to. Better yet, bring out the tooling from some of the legendary models in the past and make them again for enthusiasts to buy new again but in large numbers like before, to bring down the costs and make it affordable. There is no point in bringing back simple cars, if like this Alfa, it's not affordable for most people, no matter how good it might be. It would also contribute to bringing back the excitement in the automobile in younger generations, by creating obtainable and yet genuinely amazing automobiles they can aspire to, just like us older guys have had in the past.

Not normally into Alfas but this one always gets me right here...(beating chest) Beautiful... Pity cant afford one! Moves totally undignified on that track... Love it!

Wow! So glad I stumbled across this video. My brother had a 69 GTV and we loved it, beautiful car. The lines still hold up nicely 50 years later. I had an 85 Spyder Veloce which was my dream car back then. It was my daily driver for 5 years and never let me down once, way more reliable than many other heaps I drove back in the day!

I overtook this exact gta r at the alfaholics castle Combe track day in 2018 in my Alfa 164 racecar the Martin parsons one and Richard banks exact words to my alfaholics employee friend were I went past him like he was standing still, not bad for a £2000 drunken feebay purchase but it is the most race and championship winning Alfa 164 in the world, oh and 280hp 3.2 Busso v6 that revs to 7700 ! This gta r does best if a bit on power to weight tho, maybe Richard was having a bad day 😁

Everything about this car is over the top. The looks from all angles, the interior, the sound, the color, the simplicity, the way it sits on the road,.............absolutely amazing.

Here in Italy this very special model is called "scalino" for the small step in front of the hood/bonnet...the regular GTAs don't have it.

Totally agree with You Chris. I wouldn't hesitate too. I f they would line up every modern super car against this one, i still would prefer the Alfa. It's a matter of choice, but this would be mine. I love classics.....and i love this one the most.....
