Brilliant. Back in the day, say 1991, a garage friend of mine was collecting an Integrale from a pilot in Edinburgh to replace the clutch. On the way to his Gorgie workshop he helped himself to the last of the clutch lining and not a little of the remarkably effective brake pads. Scariest drive of my life. It then took 36 workshop hours to replace the clutch, 36 hours! Not for the faint of spanner or the parsimonious of wallet content these things.

I once changed the engine on my drive with the help of a friend., it was a nightmare. We added a highlift inlet cam, boost controller and BWE chip, made a big difference, was quicker than a standard 16v by a long way, never had it rolling roaded but should have been around 230hp with (if I remember correctly 1.2 bar) . You already have the 16v suspension and FE springs by the look of it. Loved that car. The soft and relatively cheap additions made it way more fun to hoon around in.

I owned a Evo1 'grale for 7 years and incredibly it was pretty much 100% reliable! Well, except when it came to the morning of the sale, with the buyer already on their way to pick the car up, washed it and took it for a short half mile down the road to dry the brakes off, and the engine suddenly lost all boost. There is a tiny little circlip on the turbine bypass peny valve that keeps the boost control capsule arm attached and that clip had rusted away and fallen off. .No problem a new circlip is just a couple of pence. EXCEPT you can't get to it, it's buired between the block and turbo. With the engine out, sure it's a 2 min easy swap, with the engine in, er nope, depsite much bodging of "specialist tools" (using the oxy tourch to bend long nose pliers into increasinly weird shapes...) the front of the car had to come off to fix it......

bullshit...just because something is done different doesnt mean its wrong. there are plenty of cars with design quirks from every country that produces cars. when you shove a big engine in a little car sometimes you have to curse to work on them. its a space issue. im sick and tired of english speakers talking shit about italian cars when english cars have the same rep but none of the same racist stereotypes attached....hmmm wonder why that is???

Owned 3 examples , 16v, evolution, and one of the last evolution 2s. All solid and reliable, low depreciation. The problem is that some are inevitably worn. And some have not been maintained. Best suspension was on the evolution, best engine was the last evolution which was remapped for a bit more power and torque. Biggest regret is that I did not hold onto it.
