What makes Chris Hemsworth so perfect as Thor is his seamless ability to go back and forth between being very funny and heartbreaking, which was especially the case in the Kenneth Branagh movie and Endgame.
@@RyanFloom it’s not even about him being funny; the first two films were poorly written and weak. he wasn’t even the star of his own series, we all loved Loki lol. he could’ve maintained the same personality if the storylines were better and the supporting characters were better developed.
Cabin in the Woods was a pretty classic movie and I might argue it was more iconic than any of these save Thor. But I get why they wouldn't say it was one of his most iconic characters. He had a significant role but he wasn't exactly the lead. I'd be keen to hear what he has to say about doing a horror film though.
How about Cabin In The Woods? Perfect Getaway? 12 Strong? Extraction? All of those movies are more appealing than most of the selection you chose, GQ-especially Ghostbuster, yuck.
Rush is brilliant, but I couldn't enjoy it because they'd go "we're here at Monza" and I'd think "no you're not, that's Oulton Park". What a curse it is to love the sport.
Iconic. Now thats a word thrown out pretty easily nowdays. Marlon Brando in Godfather now thats Iconic. Samuel L. Jackson has some iconic characters. I dunno but im on the fence when it comes to Hemsworth characters. Thor maybe but that has to be it.
Too bad for you, then, because he's not a good representation of Marvel's Thor. He's playing himself at this point. He's no "I say thee nay!" pagan god of the comics.
@@antona.1327 Yes he's not comic book Thor. MCU Thor has lost his whole family, his world and his hammer in less than a dozen years. Plus, most of his time has been spent amongst earthlings, so yeah, he's going to change more as time goes on. Losses like that change you and, you sometime desperately cling to anything that can resemble normal.
To think that Tom Hiddleston tried out as Thor made me chuckle. I think that Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston were nobodies when the MCU was looking for Loki and Thor and they hired the two most perfect men. I find them both extremely attractive and they are both amazing at what they do! The god of mischief and the god of thunder I can watch til the day I die! I hope that Chris Hemsworth plays Thor till the wheels fall off.
@@danielwillis458 you do realize he is active everyday and those " short time" for roles is still 6 months to a year. Adding 5-10 in a year isn't hard for actors that have help 24/7. If you weight a healthy 200 ibs Adding 5-15 pounds of pure muscle will make you look massive. Not everyone is on steroids.
Don't let this real life God of a human fool you with his looks and personality only, he's an excellent and brilliant actor! People often forget how good he really is at his core craft. Him playing James Hunt in Rush is impeccable. My favourite portrayal of his, second being as Owen Chase in Into The Heart of the Sea. I recommend everyone reading this to watch them, you'll love it!
I like how over the last few years he has found ways to shoot films in Australia, Thor Ragnarok was filmed there, Thor Love and Thunder, Spiderhead and now his filming Furiosa with Anya Taylor-Joy in Australia too.
very underrated....wonder why so many of his movies fail to catch on...Heart of the Sea, Rush, Blackhat...all pretty good movies that you never hear much about
He just did a reaction to Bad Times at the El Royale on Vanity Fair’s channel yesterday. He broke down his career and it had more movies included than this video.
Was surprised they only did 5 of his films but glad Snow White and the Huntsman got a nod. Very underrated fantasy film (reminded me of 1985’s Legend in some ways) right before the superhero boom of the 2010s.
Yes! He absolutely nailed this antagonistic character. Immensely shocking, unbelievable and yet such a true story. People wouldn't believe that its a real life story, until they watch it. Accolades to Chris for such an amazing performance. 😀
@@kanielabarcai6182 not me, at least. Even if other roles will start to be "acknowledged", I doubt any will be considered true iconic for what the word stands for.
Just watched spiderhead... Absolutely fantastic movie, really show cased how good an actor he is, when the chemicals start malfunctioning and he has to constantly changing and mixing emotions and feelings and he absolutely nailed it, great watch, glad people are still making good movies.
Can't believe they didn't do Bad Times at the El Royal. That's the first movie of his that comes to mind besides Thor. Haven't seen Spiderhead but it looks interesting.
@@jerrywil7012 guys Director Taika Waititi says Thor: Love and Thunder is NOT a passing of the torch to Mighty Thor. Now, Waititi doesn’t decide what comes next at Marvel, so he can only speak for his own movie. The point however, is that Love and Thunder is not set up that way. additionally Hemsworth who plays Thor, has always said he’s happy to play Thor until he’s no longer wanted by the fans or the Studio. Speaking with Total Film Magazine recently and covered by their sister outlet Games Radar. Waititi talked about his point of view and for him, this is not a passing of the torch.
Must be a little disappointing for these actors if they’ve seen these videos on GQ and look forward to talking about a majority of their movies, only for GQ to cover 4-5 like for Chris. What about Cabin in the Woods, Bad Times at the El Royale, & In the Heart of the Sea??? GQ made sure to cover Ghostbusters though, a crap movie in his supporting role.
