@Jo Lawless It's so sad that his wild life overshadows his work. We have a weird way of devaluing rock stars. We are more interested in their drugs than in their talent. CH has so many highlights. I have listened to Maneater for 10 years and it still gives me goosebumps.

Holy hell, Chris deserved $120 for every 5 minutes that he was playing live on stage! $120 per week for a rock star of his caliber is insulting. I bet Blackie didn’t make $120 per week! What a thief!!! From what Blackie was saying in interviews back in ‘84/‘85, W.A.S.P. were such a big attraction they were getting 100% of the bar till, or 100% of the door take, in all the clubs that they played! Where did all that money go Blackie? Chris was an absolute madman and full of energy every second he was onstage, if anybody deserved a good paycheck, it was Chris! From what I’ve seen, he was 50% of W.A.S.P.’s live shows all by himself. If you watch footage from the older shows like the pro-shot London Lyceum gig, people can’t stop looking at Chris and you can plainly see that Blackie notices it and he gets very jealous! Watch the footage from the Last Command tour on Randy Piper’s RU-vid page. Almost all of that show people are watching Chris and when they aren’t watching him, they’re watching Randy play his solos. Randy was also a huge part of their live shows. On the Winged Assassins tour, where Blackie was gargling blood from a skull, cu**ing the girls throat on the rack, or throwing raw meat, Chris and Randy were the obvious viewpoints of those shows. Blackie had to do outlandish stuff because otherwise he was like watching a lazy donkey onstage. Half the time Blackie’s bass was a backing track cause he couldn’t play single note bass lines and do his stupid line dance shuffles at the same time! LoL That’s 100% true. Watch that live Texas show on Randy’s page and you’ll see Blackie’s hand off the bass, but the bass is still clearly making sound. He’s not doing hammer-on’s either as Blackie claims he was doing, it’s a backing bass track plain as day, so he could dance around like an idiot! Chris and Randy deserved way more money than Blackie ever did. I really liked W.A.S.P. back in the day. The layered rhythm guitars on those first 3 records sounded so good. Fully cranked up on a good stereo, Chris’ playing and his solos on those songs sounded monstrous. When Blackie started wearing those weird vaudeville type costumes and doing those stupid shuffle dances he just looked stupid. I just stopped paying attention when I saw him dancing. Blackie took what could have been a really great band and ruined it with his overinflated ego and just being selfish altogether. Thanks to Blackie, we never got to see Chris Holmes get his due in guitar magazine interviews, his songs/solos tabbed out like he deserved! We never got to read about him hanging out and growing up with Eddie Van Halen when they were kids. We never got to read, or see pictures in equipment interviews. No discussions about his old Marshall’s, his custom Jackson and Charvel Star body guitars, his Ibanez Destroyer that he bought at the same time Eddie Van Halen bought his Ibanez Destroyer. Chris deserved all of that stuff. I mean c’mon, if Billy Corgan, Courtney Love, the guys from Black Veil Brides, etc got in guitar magazines it is absolutely criminal that Chris Holmes hasn’t had a damn whole guitar book written about him!! At least one damn issue of Guitar World could pay homage to Chris!

One Friday after work got a 6pak just for a primer and here the sob came I wanted to outrun him I was so pissed he pulled me over and said your lucks over boy open the back seat. The 6pak was gone and conveniently did the splits to slide under the bucket seats. He got back in his car and I pulled off. From there on I could hide a 6pak under both front bucket seats.💪🎸

@@buckster2575 That happened a lot back in the 70's and before, but in contrast, a friend of my dad actually went to prison for 20 years, because he fell asleep at the wheel while driving home from work after a night shift, and ran over a little girl waiting for a school bus. This happened in 1964 or ' 65, when I was an infant. It happened in Ohio. The guy came out to our house about a year after getting out of prison, and I had no idea of his ordeal ,until after he left and my dad told me about it. It seemed fucked up to me, that a guy could get that much time for an accident, but somehow, a guy who deliberately gets wasted and gets behind the wheel and kills someone can get little or no time at all.

I Wanna Be Somebody” is from watching a Barney Miller episode. In the last few seasons of the show, Ron Glass, who played Detective Ron Harris, was writing a novel called “Blood on the Badge”, and his publisher had arranged for a book signing so he had gone to Miller and got the okay for some time off. Suddenly, as he is about to leave the office, a mugging detail comes and Captain Miller yells, “Harris, you and Dietrich go check it out!” “But what about my book signing?” Miller yells again. “Now!” Harris slams the phone down and yells, “God I Wanna Be Somebody!!!” He did it with this sort of cry in his voice and it was really funny when he did it but then I thought about it and thought a lot of people probably feel like that and that was the origin of that song.
