Jericho's a class act. I was never that fond of him when I first started watching (it was during 2004-2005 when he didn't have much to do), but watching a lot of his behind the scenes stuff (and earlier kayfabe work) totally changed my mind. One of my favourites now, always respectful and a joy to listen to, both in character and out.
jericho is a guy who i respect because he tells it like it is when it comes to the rock. he recognized how good the rock is and admitted it. the old guys like austin, jericho, angle, the dudley boys, big show, hogan, macho man and so on, had nothing but good things to say about the rock. most of the hate that is directed towards the rock nowadays comes off more as jealousy or from people who didn't see him when he was wrestling full time and don't know any better.
personally, i think even if a wrestler didnt like you or thought you were a punk back then, i dont think they'd bury you nowadays... at least most wrestlers wouldnt do that, i think. It just looks unprofessional. Kinda like if you were in a job interview, you dont talk bad about your boss or coworkers to the interviewer. It just makes yoy look bad.
@smintjoseph ur right what really stood out to me is when barrett got injured jericho walked over to the doctor after the match and asked if he was ok classy guy
Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson and Chris Jericho are two of the coolest and down-to-earth guys to ever enter the business. I hope both stay that way and they don't end up bitter and broken down like so many legends
For the people who don't know, this was back in 2009, Rock came back numerous times throughout the years (both after his retirement, but before this interview and certainly after his retirement and after this interview).
it would have been good to see a segment between jericho and the rock if jericho stuck around longer. just for old time sake because way back when in the 14 era jericho and rock had some good ass segments and matches together.
yeah i agree with u. what we need is a new wrestling show to rival the WWE because the attitude era was based on the fact that WCW rivaled the wwf. now WWEs so famous that they can do whatever they want
@gaatakek Cena's dropkick is crazy too. He does it with perfect form, but with his weight and body-mass, it would be harder for him to do it all the time. At least he does the flying legdrop on a regular basis...that one is pretty sick.
Jericho is right. No matter what Dwayne Johnson does, he could be in movies for the next 30 years, and people will ALWAYS remember him for the 7 years that he was The Rock.
Y2J/The Rock promos= BEST promos in the history of wwe. I would love to see another one after all these years, but if The Rock does come back for 1 night to guest host Raw, people will just start hounding him with "1 more match" chants.
I really appreciate Chris Jericho acknowledging The Rock as one of if not the most prolific wrestlers in history in his opinion because sometimes i feel like the The Rock's contribution to the WWE is overshadowed by a feeling of displaced anger by the fans because of his departure from the company. Chris by the way was one of the most entertaining guys ever to pick up a mic in the wwe not to mention in ring prowress. GO FOZZY!
i always didnt like jericho but watching his opinion about the rock and who he respect him and talk from his heart yeah his a great wretler in and out side the ring!!!
Jericho...the first dual champion in WWE history WHO BEAT both top superstars by the name of Stone Cold & The Rock....jericho was/is underrated n he’s no hater he puts talent over dude is a beast much respect to him
@Brokencyde504 I've never been much of a Micheals fan but you don't have to be a fan of a guy to appreciate a guy's ability and his contributions to wrestling. For the most part when I hear other wrestlers talk about him even if they don't like the guy personally most have their respects for his skill and what he has done which tells you something right there. I think the man in this video, Jerhicho, is one of those total package guys as well and deserves more credit than he generally gets.
@anuragspartan Thanks a lot! Perhaps too many people don't think about how the company works, so they hate the person, rather than bring up the issue of the way they are contracted to appear. On the upside, the Rock seems to be bringing back the attitude era all by himself!
This right here. This is truth. You've never heard complaints of Rock not putting someone over, botching performances or anything. Hell he gave new perspectives on some people's finishers, like the Stunner. The way he flips from it is like "whoa". He actually sells moves and not just lay there acting like he's in unbearable pain and can't move from one hit, like when CM Punk caused Cena to get speared thru the table. He's gotten up from way worse easily, but just laid there that time.
Y2J is in Top 3... of greatest wrestler of all time too. Hope he know it. He got Insane Mic Skill... He a great face.. and one of the best heel OF ALL TIME. And he can kick some ass too.
which was what made John Cena so tick when it comes to The Rock. When you think about it mostly he said that the Rock will be around for a short while saying he'll never leave again then not show up for several months and so on. Basically he's calling Rock a one trick pony for crowd reactions and someone who feels he's a bigger star than most people. It's interesting to me however that The Rock IS one of the all time greatest and Cena is just following his footsteps, or at least trying to.
Yeah man I remeber the late 90's early 2000s the Rock wrestled matches full time which was a lot of matches and always gave the fans100% day in and day out for years. That has got to burn anyone out from wrestling and being on the road all the time. He has accomplished everything in wrestling and has nothing left to prove. He also proved he is successful in acting as well. Its cool he makes rare appearences but he does not need to even though he is missed.
chris jericho is a cool dude. just speaking his mind about the rock. cannot understand why the rock stays away from even commentating, but that's his perogative and he's earned that right.
y2j is right. people should respect the rock's decision for leaving the wwe 7 years ago. i dont understand some other people. when he was a heel at 2003, a lot of the fans booed on him and said he should go back to hollywood, and calling him a sell out. and when he left a lot them wants him back.
@kkdb22 I actually agree with you. It will be a good matchup but I agree that the WWE writers will probably make it where Cena beats Rock supporting the "kiddie" era of the WWE with it's PG Era by defeating the Attitude Era. Another possibility is that it could turn out as a draw somehow with someone interfering in the match like Nexus or the Corre which would completely ruin it. As you said though, with the WWE, anything is possible.
If done right (and this is Steph booking things, so you never know) this feud could be very much like the buildup to Sting VS Hogan @ Starrcade in WCW. They made fans wait over a year to see Sting/Hogan, and Sting never wrestled, just made appearances and run-ins. By the time Starrcade rolled around, anticipation was so great that they packed the house. You can't make the whole of next season about Rock/Cena only, so it's good they brought in the Corre. Barrett is the true future of WWE.
Rock is a pretty good actor IMO. He still needs some polishing up but his role in Gridiron Gang was very well played. Rock has natural talent. I sort of agree with the criticisms toward the Rock wanting sort of downplay "The Rock" aspect of himself and show more Dwayne Johnson. I think he does it to diversify his acting portfolio. If he's basically known as "The Rock" people are always gonna think big wrestler and that could potential limit his acting roles.
@WiccanMann04 well said! some of these punks now aint fit to lace brets boots... although he did have an ego but i guess that could be exused for wanting purity and being so passionate about wrestling because he cared not just as a performer but as a fan too..the only thing i dont agree with what bret did was when he didnt wanna lose to shawn at the survivor series
