I think it's more of a respect thing. Even Brock backed off when Taker laid down the law. Doesnt matter if you can take taker in a fight, puffing your chest out at him is a good way to piss off the rest of the boys and probably killing your own career.
@@de4dman Fandango being put over didn't really do anything for his career considering anything after that victory WWE did nothing with him, so honestly knowing the outcome of him winning I would've much preferred the idea of Jericho going for his 10th intercontinental title reign
@@leonardodavince5505 That's not Jericho's fault that WWE didn't know what to do with Fandango. He did an exceptional job of making a star out of Fandango. Even if he wins the IC title 10 times more, what difference does it make? Look at R-Truth, he can win the 24/7 title 50 times, but that still can't be compared to one solid world title reign like McIntyre.
"Nobody cares about the fucking Intercontinental Championship!" Yeah u can tell that's how Vince feels about it based on how irrelevant it feels nowadays.
I can't stand these comments the IC title has always been featured prominently in the last several years. So why do people think it means nothing????????
Fandango as a heel was not a bad idea, like him being Mr. Steal Your Girl and talking to girls in the audience, that was cool, but they dropped the ball
agree ,he was so over too when those fanchants comes out ,dude got nice looks ,not so bad wrestling skills ,can pull some high flying spots , doesnt small we all know wwe like big dudes but why no push? thats like really wasting all these momentums
People like Cody and Chris make me smile. More chris than cody. Even though they left WWE they still have some respect and they don't mind sharing light hearted stories from their careers.
@@wuthurer then why does it explain that covid has expose their weaknesses and their shitty product has deteriorated faster because it's all elite wrestling going to go out of business and every single idiot that sign there is going to be blacklisted from the business
@@lordtrigon1733 He was definitely still amazing that year despite and imo should have won the Royal Rumble in 2003. He gave a stellar performance in that match ! I can't believe that they just neglect some of their most talented superstars to boost someone like Brock, who had barely paid his dues his first few years in wrestling.
It just goes to show you Vince issues being the head of creative where I, as a fan, think to myself: "man, the IC title might be the most prestigious title in WWE!" While Vince thinks: "They want a 8-month cucking storyline GODDAMMIT!"
@GOLDBOND vs BALLS Vince has final say on all of the storylines in WWE. So yes, he in fact thought people wanted the cucking story for that long. What he *doesn't* get to decide is the value that fans and wrestlers put on his championships. That just shows how out of touch he is with his audience. Also stop calling people "marks". It's super cringe.
@@TheDropkick thats what should have happened that year. Punk deserved to be in the main event that year, plus we wouldnt have had to havd Rock vs Cena again and screwed up the "once in a lifetime" schtick.
And then they paired him with Tyler Breeze, a legitimately amazing worker who deserved to be the next HBK, and just Marty Jannetty'd his way into their irrelevancy. Not that that is entirely his fault- he got injured a bunch and that drove him down the card a lot, and WWE gave up on him, and paired him with someone they thought he had chemistry with, but never bothered to push them, and Breeze is a trainer now, so he doesn't seem particularly interested in getting the championships he deserves, so Fandango's just gonna probably be a low card heel for the rest of his career, having Eh matches with younger people, and getting his theme music sung at him by thousands of people around the world.
I suppose they were NXT tag team champions recently. But Breeze could've been a champion- most likely an intercontinental champion, but a champion nonetheless.
@@blaze5645 yeah but they lost it too quickly. I don't think they should've had a lengthy run, but they should have defended it successfully at least twice
Lot respect for Jericho, telling stories where he's cleary being wrong and showing even the best in the business can learn deep into their careers. Absolute legend
"no one cares about the Intercontinental Championship" line hurts so bad cus it's actually the opposite and so many people do, it's as big as the world title in most places and was once up there with the WWF championship...also definitely by far the greatest midcard belt...WWE have butchered it. Give it some importance guys, you had Shawn Michaels, Jericho, RVD, Guerrero, Triple H, Austin, Bret Hart, The Rock and more who have held this belt.
Chris Jericho, absolute professional, and incredible worker! Mad respect for the guy! His ENTIRE career he's had the ability to entertain me w his charisma and personality, absolutely loathe his heel persona while completely respecting his in ring abilities... Haven't even touched on his career outside of wrestling or w Fozzy... If Ric Flair and Becky Lynch hadn't already laid claim to the title, I'd nominate Chris as"The Man"!
@Maxwell Hoffman as both Steven and William "Regal' has indeed had a long and illustrious career. Undeniably a fantastic worker and one of THE toughest men to ever climb into the ring! Such a talented performer and I will give him recognition and respect as such. He was also very active behind the scenes discovering and working with new talent. I'm personally not aware of how long he was an active performer(if you know please fill me in) and he didn't dazzle me on the mic, but definitely deserves recognition!
Jericho is undoubtedly one of the most entertaining and well rounded performers in the history of not only the WWE...but wrestling period. And what’s even more incredible to me is that the older this guy gets, the more depth he adds to his overall presentation. He’s proved for 30 years now that he is a true a master of reinvention. Much love & respect to Chris for everything he’s contributed to the business...past, present, & hopefully future. ✊🏼
Me to and me being from Canada makes it so much more enjoyable lol even tho I never really cared for Jericho when I use to watch the programme now I realize he’s a fucken legend
What should have happened that year was Cena vs Rock vs Punk triple threat for the title, and Jericho vs Taker. Jericho could have done all the same antics that Punk did leading up to the match and it would have worked out fine.
Or have Punk go over Rock at Rumble keep the title until Mania where he faces Rumble winner Cena. Draw on their history from MITB 2011. Punk saying “You can’t beat me John” “I did what you couldn’t, I beat Dwayne” Mania Cena finally beats Punk and ends his 500 day reign.
@@bradcarver8127 Or or Have Punk go over Rock in a dusty finish, Rock instead wins World Heavyweight Title at EC then have Cena challenge both of them at Mania - the man he couldn't beat last year and the man he lost the title to. Make it an old style three way dance for the undisputed title. Promote it as "Then (Rock) Now (Cena), Forever (Punk)" Cena pins Rock first to win WHC in the first fall, avenging his loss the year before. Rock raises his hand as a passing of the torch moment. He then shakes hands with Punk and goes to ringside (maybe even to the commentary desk). "Rock, you joining us?" "Are you kidding, these are the two biggest superstars in Sports Entertainment. We're about to see who's best, and the Rock has a front row seat. He's not going anywhere!!" Then either have Cena win to end Punk's record or (my preference) have Punk win to cement himself as the new top man in the company... having beaten the past and present in that match. Then have Daniel Bryan beat him a year later.
I look at wrestling this way. Most people don't become pro wrestlers and even less perform for WWE at WrestleMania, so no one can complain. Jobbing for a guy like Fandango at WrestleMania is a lot better than working a drive-thru and getting yelled at/physically assaulted at some point.
@GOLDBOND vs BALLS Well, they're HIS complaints, not the complaints of the fans per se. He doesn't seem to be complaining a whole lot with AEW, regardless of what people think of him being or doing there. He probably would take AEW still.
people are allowed to feel upset about things. Should they be grateful for what they have?sure, but being more well off than someone does not mean you don't have a right to voice your opinion when you feel unsatisfied.
Honestly, Fandango is probably where Jericho got his current mindset of putting youngsters over in AEW. Sounds like he took getting Fandango over as a personal challenge and when he succeeded, he became an addict.
People really forget how over "feed me more" was. WWE really dropped the ball by rushing his push. Of course, when he got better opportunities, he proved to be another Ultimate Warrior (in an era where no one wanted an Ultimate Warrior). Still, for a while, Ryback looked like the next big thing.
Jericho could have had a decent run at stand up comedy if he ever wanted. He is engaging, knows how to tell an interesting story, and can deliver a punchline well. One of the last people to ever be in the WWE that had legit talent.
“Nobody cares about the fucking Intercontinental Championship.” Even Vince knows that the IC Title is no longer the prestigious championship that it once was.
This proves to me that Vince books for himself, no one saw Ryback as a good wrestler only him did, also I'm sure people will like Jericho vs Wade for IC title with a storyline of Jericho going for the 10th but Vince doesn't care about IC title so he didn't do it.
I know it was seen as a joke but Vince's thoughts about the intercontinental title and what triple h just did putting it in the main event of SmackDown with a great match shows the disconnect between what Vince thinks and what the fans actually want. For years the intercontinental title and the US title we're like the workers championship because those matches could steal the show and I'm glad triple h is bringing that back.
"You just gotta do what the boss tells you to do, and if you do a good enough job, he'll take care of you" In wrestling this may be true, my retail/service jobs Ive worked in the past prove this to be not.
I was at that Raw, it was the one of the craziest nights in Raw history, the chants that night were AMAZING! I had actually downloaded evert wrestling theme that weekend bc my friends and i took a a party bus to Mania . And yes I had Fandangos theme, and was blasting it in the parking lot driving around the outside of the arena, god that was a great night.
Jericho nailed it "you just got a new top babyface" but they didn't turn him until it was too late. Opportunity missed. Now I'm not saying he was ever going to be a star but they could have gotten something out of him as a face early on.
As much as I do respect The Undertaker, I don't quite understand why you need him to tell you to do your job. Vince: Work Fandango. Y2J: NO! Undertaker: Work Fandango. Y2J: Oh, right! Okay. Wtf...
And the real reason why that night after wrestle mania was "bizzaro world" was cuz Newark NJ and Puerto Rico was in there deep and before the show they announced the THE ROCK will unfortunately not BE ON THE SHOW TONIGHT! After that we decided to say fuck this show and TROLL IT. It was like 60 of us from the hood up in there. It was a great night
@Metropcs Metropcs Chill Just my opinion If you don't like it just ignore 🙌 He is still wrestling at this age Champion around world I have watched him from my childhood I believe he is One of the GOAT
Jericho: IM *NOT* GOIN BACK OUT THERE AND YOU CANT MAKE ME!!!!! Taker: What was that???? Jericho: 🙄 IM GOIN BACK OUT AND *ONLY YOU* CAN MAKE ME!!!!!!!!!
