Everyone has their own opinion, and as a judge, Howie is just giving his honest opinion. It’s better to be upfront than be a suck up. It’s his job as a judge, not a fan.

Tons of people write 'originals', and tons of people can write good and even very good songs, but very few can write Great!! songs, that is why people love covers, because covers of great songs are done and people recognize those songs. Unfortunately, when one tries to do an 'original' ( I use original in quotes b/c even though people write songs usually there really is not an original sound but more a mix of sounding like other musicians) people dont know it, and unless it is something extraordinary it wont have the same impact. Kris is a great singer and good musician, but I have to agree with Simon and Howie on this one, the song is good, but it is not a Great song, I wont remember the melody in an hour, it sounds like a typical coffee house song. Great songs with great melodies stick with you always, even if you hate the song, for example that garbage cell phone song by Drake, it is a horrible song but I can sing you the melody cause at least it is memorable.

Howie isn't BEING weird, Howie IS weird. Weirdness personified. Though I have to wonder if there isn't a bit of the jealousy of an old man seeing the young fella at the top of his game. Seen any of Howie's standup lately? Actually, I think each judge on the show should get up and perform once per month, see if they get voted off the island.

I love his original music and it shows how much talent and style he has. But I do agree on one thing that Howie said and that is if he will include some popular covers in his perfomances, I believe he will get even more votes. Again, for men, I LOVE WHATEVER CHRIS SINGS, but if you want to actually win this competition, I think you have to understand what America really wants to hear as a WHOLE. The fans can relate and get into the music more if they hear some of the music they follow more closely.

he just not qualified to judge singers.. he should stick to comedy and no song artist acts.. seff he can give em opinions, but we have to take what he say about singers at his level of understand it. Simon is known to smell gold in anything, so he is qualified on all acts, he just failed on Tori Kelly gold smell:)

One of the things I love about Chris is his original music-so far each has had an enjoyable texture and ear-catching hook combined with lyrics that stand on their own, and the dynamics of his voice adds so much more than is on the page. As a songwriter I know how difficult that is, it separates the amateurs from the masters. This is talent. And Queen Latifah’s comments, amen to that.

I have been listening to everything I can find by Chris and still haven't been able to get enough. This is one of his best efforts yet. It has so much emotion and lyrical meaning, it draws tears every time I hear it. I am now totally convinced that Howard and Simon have put the FIX in for some other lackluster wannabe talent! They obviously haven't been listening to these original pieces with their ears and hearts open to the message it conveys. Chris is one of the most talented singer-songwriters I have had the ultimate pleasure of listening to in a very long time. Probably since John Lennon, Simon and Garfunkel, Judy Collins, Johnny Cash, John Denver... I don't know! He is definitely up there with the absolute best!!!

I absolutely love this guy! His soul is full of love, you can just tell by his music, by the way he talks, and of course by the way he sings. The voice of an angel, blessed with the ability to connect with people, Chris has a beautiful and unique sound that only comes around every so often. Dont forget how hard he have worked to be where he is today. He didnt win Swedish idol on his first try or second. Im not even sure he made it through the auditions all of his tries. Chris has a wonderful presence on stage and I can easily picture him performing in intimate accoustic sessions. His voice, his cool vibe, his looks and style, and a band backing him up, made me see this performance not as a part of a contest show, but as a concert people would pay for attending. I don't understand why judges keep insisting on not performing originals. It's their call and people like Chris have the talent and the guts, as QL said, to do this. Respect. This said, the level this season is so high that I think it's unlikely to see him in the finals. Yet, if it was my call, I would sign him a record deal today. There's market and demand for talents like him.

Anyone with a voice like his can do covers all day long and the internet will blow up. But this song. OMG!!! Its an amazing song and I love the fact that he's performing originals. Such an amazing voice!!!

I don’t get why howie wants him to do covers... he’s an artist he makes his own music, writes his own songs. I loved his audition and I loved all his own songs. Like queen latifah said.. it takes guts to put your own songs out there because people aren’t going to know it and might not like it but his lyrics are awesome and his voice is even better
