Wow as much as I thought I knew hip hop/ The Culture etc. Apparently I didn't, because this brother Chris Lighty from what I'm hearing played a major part in the Industry, he managed some of my top respected / Favorite artist , I'm deciphering he was an remarkable exceptional man smh . It's so unfortunate he felt as if there wasn't any outlet to whatever he was dealing with mentally smh . My prayers go out to Chris & Family may our Heavenly Father continue to strengthen them through time giving perfect peace , Celestial knowledge which leads to Wisdom for we can do all things through Christ that strengthens 🙏
This is a great interview that gives a great perspective on how the business can affect someone's mental health. More conversation needs to take place around this subject.
When everyone is in survival mode. Is not in mentoring mode is an great statement to the realities most cannot express as he did. Especially the elite. And most of the masses that are effected by their subjected rules, are suffering the consequence s that are never fair.
Why is it so difficult for people to accept Chris may have suffered from mental illness, depression? It's documented that he was in a hospital or facility for depression so why all the conspiracy theories?
Arianne No one wants to acknowledge the severity of depression. Granted, depression doesn’t always result in suicide. People are saying the same thing happened with Shakir Stewart. No one wants to believe that alot of men have a deep pride..especially when it involves finances. It’s always some conspiracy theories with people. Better to accept I guess. 1. You do not show your weakness or emotions TO THE WORLD! NO ONE DOES THAT! But, every person should have someone whom they express themselves to at times. I know of Chris from his managing of Jungle Brothers, De La Soul and Tribe Called Quest. 2. I know my man whose a CPA, @HIPHOP_CPA has tried to talk with many industry individuals regarding being a part of their financial advisement/tax team, and they all blew him off. So the "WE ARE THE WORLD" this guy is preaching seems to lack veracity
