I really appreciate how different this video felt than the rest of them, in that there's a lot of...quiet? I don't know how to describe it. There's just like a lot of moments where the camera is just on and Chris is cooking and it feels very relaxing, but also still informative. Like it was really good for me to see how long he actually blended everything since it was such a short amount of time. It made everything look a lot more doable by an average person and less chef magic.
I couldn't agree more! I feel it also has something to do with the time they filmed this. It's almost dark out with soft lights in the kitchen. Loved the vibe of this video!
I understand that some people do that because they have to but I always feel for them. I prefer listening to my body and eating what I feel I need to. This is my happy way of life 😉
I don’t know why, but I feel like Chris needed a big hug (or some chicken soup) when this was filmed. I hope he (and everyone at BA!) had a good holiday break!
I want a cute “meet the BA test kitchen staff” Including BTS persons, custodians, prep ppl, the whole thing! I think it would be so amazing to recognize everyone and like even if it’s 5-15 sec of everyone
The way BA chefs (I’ve seen Molly do this in another video too) just casually dip their fingers in boiling or near-boiling water (to taste whether its seasoned) is both scary and amazing.
I absolutely love how Chris came for whole wheat pasta. We are cancelling try-hard, fibrous sadness in 2020. The god of flavor himself has spoken; it's gnarly.
yeah like Batman said, it’s more that this isn’t the recipe to be using whole wheat with because its flavour can compete too much with the other ingredients
Is it weird that I’m attracted to him? The way he carries himself is just so endearing. Everything he says has a point, he never rambles. He’s so smart oh my goodness
@@Sprinkles12345 I call that feminine type of masculinity "graceful". instead of the brad kind of macho masculinity, it's much more careful and thoughtful but still full of confidence.
"Two years ago Andy kind of wanted you to be a little bit hungry." I don't know about hungry, but I'm pretty sure there's no shortage of people who are thirsty when they watch Andy.
If someone said "You must open a culinary school - who's you head instructor" - it's got to be Chris. He's the professional's-professional. He would be so patient. But he would also hold a standard.
I cook pesto in the summer when I have a lot of greens hanging around. Never have done Kale before but I will try this. I've found that serving pesto with a side of fresh summer tomatoes, just as wedges surrounding the plate, is the best way to eat those beautiful tomatoes you get in late summer without having to cook them.
As a student that usually doesn’t have time to make a proper “dinner” I think the feel good food plan sound amazing and it’s hopefully something I can make, that isn’t noodles
I made this today, literally as soon as I saw this, but I could only find cashews for the cheap and MAN OH MAN... the cashews after soaked for about 30 minutes are so amazing in this. 10/10!
I made two resolutions this year: spend an hour a day cleaning up my four spare rooms full of hoarded gifts, impulse purchases, and inherited junk; and eat healthier. It's now Jan 2 and I haven't cleaned a thing and last night I had a 1-lb bean and Frito burger with fried pickles. But maybe with this recipe, something can change? 💗😂 Doubtful. 😔 At least I watched the video!
The 15 minute cleaning rule is life changing. If you haven't heard of it, you set a 15 minute timer and clean as much as you can in that time. You will be amazed and it is a realistic time goal. Good luck this year!
Read "Goodbye Things" by Fumio Sasaki. :) Then eat a pound of veg/greens every day for starters - at least half raw. You could use this technique for anything, like he says. Broccoli for example. If you get the Vitamix that has the "hot soup" [button] function, you throw all the crap in there with some stock and you have a soup - or stew. Of ANY veg. Or fruit. Then you just throw in some water and dish detergent, run the thing and your dishes are done.
Chris has the most calming presence ever! He is someone you would feel totally safe with. You know when he is not trying to guess Red Leicester cheese.
eating cooked kale is also a lot healthier, because raw kale, since it does have a lot of protein, is hard to digest. so if you cook it, youre basically doing what cooking meat does to the meat. breaking down those log protein chains, and making it easier to digest.
Since I'm curious about the process. Would doing a massage on the kale also end in the same outcome of breaking those chains? I dont mind blanching but if I can squeeze the kale and take out one less step I'd be in heaven.
@@camilleszuch2783 not really, it would break down a little bit, but since you cant squeeze it on a molecular level the result is no where near the amount that heat can break down. Blanching it is perfect, since kale isnt a large chunk of material like meat is it takes a lot less time to cook it.
No not really. The fibers of vegetables have different bond formations as compared to proteins. Humans lack the enzyme to properly break these bonds as compared to the bonds present in proteins unlike those in the gastrointestinal tract of herbivores lile cows, hence people often seeing that vegetables go unprocessed in our waste. Therefore, blending and blanching the vegetables DOES NOT help in the digestion of the vegetables.
@@pablomiguelfernando Well that too. I wasnt saying it was the only reason, but our bodies do have a hard time digesting whole strands of proteins aswell. That's why we cook meat, and the rest of our food for that matter, to conserve the most amount of energy while digesting. Raw corn is also very hard to digest and is one of the main causes of IBS in america. You have to nixtamalize it first. Also, I wouldnt consider biochemistry to be basic chemistry. A sodium and water reaction is basic chemistry, not biomechemical processes.
Chris!!! You’re a rockstar sir! Soo mellow and even keeled all the time but also so definitive in how he believes things should be done! Love the video and will definitely try this recipe!
