I first became aware of Mr Packham's behaviour when I saw the Smiths clip - tinyurl.com/packhamsmiths - about a year ago. "Magic", I thought, this kinda shit being right up my street.
Then came the Manics one - tinyurl.com/packhammanics - I had a wee google on the off chance that he had done anyone else, dream gig being The Cure, as my wife-to-be (as she was at the time) is a MASSIVE fan of them.
Could not believe my fucking eyes when I found out about this. Thanks to the magic of a certain website and a handy cut-out-and-keep 'tracklisting' on the BBC site - tinyurl.com/packhamcure - I was ready to go.
Thought it would make an ideal wedding present to her but alas I didn't manage get my shit together before we got married. This is kinda the midpoint between the wedding and The Cure's Reflections gig that she's off to in a few weeks so it seems appropriate.
Lorna - if I ever see an episode of Springwatch again it'll be too soon, but it was worth every second of every hour. X
Chris - in the unlikely event of you reading this - many thanks, cap duly doffed, you are a star! But - please avoid any future Depeche Mode references or I'm fucked. Couldn't go through all that again...

As a huge fan of the Cure myself, I almost wet myself when I cottoned on to Chris' antics & I squealed loudly each time I heard him utter another song title. What a legend he is & what a fruitcake I am!

Even Kate Humble chipped in with The Caterpillar and Why Can't I Be You, and helped set up Killing An Arab.

CP has, with his colossal knowledge and ace taste in music, coupled with a hint of rebelliousness as befits a past (?) punk has managed to inspire a middle aged bus crazy p@@@head to take a long overdue interest in the wonderful range of natural beauty this otherwise screwed up country has to offer. Great job, all at Spring/Autumn watch and keep it up.

Packham is a genius. Bowie and The Smiths were better for me though as I'm more familiar with their song titles.
