My favorite game from Chris Paul. This was game 3 in the 2008 2nd round of the playoffs.
Chris Paul had 35 points and 9 assists. Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili both scored 31 points apiece.
Sadly, Hornets lost the game and eventually lost the series in 7 game.
Rate, post comments!! Thx

2008/2009 Chris Paul was the best PG play I have seen since 1988-91 Magic. Just great basketball.

@Nicky Dean I disagree. Parker had a better overall team.
@GoZags43

@@travisblair3189 No….. Just no. No objective observer could EVER claim that TP was better than CP3. Team doesn’t matter when the talent gap between SA and NO was significant as in this series. Defensively the Spurs were a juggernaut. TP was the one weak-ish link. CP3 was LIGHTYEARS better as a passer and defender. TP was a better rim finisher, but that didn’t come close to closing the gap overall with CP3. CP3 at his best was-don’t let Laker’s fans hear this- extremely close to Magic if not his equal as the GOAT. The injuries robbed CP3 of his peak athleticism, so we only saw this version of CP3 for a relatively brief window. (Still 2nd to Magic overall and truthfully 3rd behind Curry then Magic as the greatest PG ever) Curry’s play style is so different, the comparison is almost too odd-Curry is his own “position” really, but TP isn’t in the discussion.

This is the Chris Paul I miss. Aggressive getting into the paint any time he wants. finding teammates and scoring. He has lost quickness and athleticism since his surgery but he still finds ways to help his team.

You know the crazy thing of CP3 from this year? He averaged 22 points(48 FG%) and 11 assists while only turning it over 2.5 times per game and he had more steals than turnovers that year. Look at all the scoring PGs today. You got Westbrook, Kyrie, Curry averaging around 22-23 PPG but they all average over 3 TPG and only 6-7 APG while shooting in the mid 40s from the field. None of them can put up the type of numbers Chris put up in 07-08 and his 08-09 was even better statistically.

Still hurts my heart, because I really like Paul. Hope he and Harden can get one before his career is all said and done.

CP3 should have won MVP in 2008 imo... That Hornets team without CP3 probably would not have not even been close to making the Playoffs let alone finishing second in the West and taking the defending champs to a 7th game. Kobe didn't deserve the MVP that year, and he knows it.

+Tony Parker bruh, the suns jumped from 29 wins to 62. joe johnson posted, career highs, amare was arguably one of the best pf in the league while marion continued a great level of play. Nash made everyone around him play better, probably one of the best floor generals after cp3 in this era. he was the centerpiece of that team. he doesnt deserve the one in 2005 as that should have went to dirk but 04 was definitely nashs year. Also, kobe mostly put empty stats on those shitty lakers teams.

Kobe arguably wouldn't have had those two rings, but prior to the Gasol trade the argument can be made the Lakers did a poor job assembling those championship teams. Duncan was drafted onto a contender that tanked to get him, was paired with a top 10 all-time center, has NEVER had to play through rebuilding periods, and has had such tremendous talent place around him that the Spurs are still 60 win teams despite him being ousted as the team's best player 5 years ago.

His MVP was robbed by Kobe, Kobe's MVP was robbed too many times in 2006, 2007, league wants to give him one, so Chris paul is sacrified for Kobe's legacy. 2008, Chris paul has better stats and more efficiency than Kobe, in current day's criteria, CP should get that MVP. But it was robbed. If he had a MVP, there will be less criticism for haters.

Finally, Bringing up teammates is relevant because we are "talking about personal statistics" (those are your words). You then went on to say "lol put Chris Paul on the Bobcats and watch his numbers shoot up". That therefore means that personal statistics are affected by ones team/teammates. How then is bringing up the teams that CP3 and Magic played for "irrelevant"..btw (Chris might score more on the Bobcats, but his assist, turnover, and efficiency numbers would probably decline.

exactly. i wouldn't go as far to say cp is the best of the era (early 2000s to mid=kidd, mid to 2008=nash, 08 to now=paul) but ya rose/westbrook are not advanced enough as point guards. Its not even the turnovers that get me angry. They pass the ball out of necessity a majority of the time. Point guards should pass the ball in the flow of the offense. They pass it out of the offensive flow and it shows because they don't use passing fundamentals (stay on floor while passing etc) bad fundamentals

I like how you're dissing on Chris he has a chance to get to Magic's level the dude only 28 years old he still got 6 years. Secondly Chris Paul averaged 11.6 assists with David West and Marco Belineli. Paul is skilled more offensively. Magic was 6'9 so he able to make passes over defenders. You ask Magic himself he'll even tell you Chris will be one of the greatest point guards ever in fact he's already said before on TV. There's even a commercial of Magic having daydreams of Paul being great.

It's funny how Chris Paul stans claim he was "robbed" of 2008 MVP when Kobe led a lesser supporting cast to the best record in the West and while only having Pau Gasol for 1/3 of the season In hindsight, the 2008 WCF further proved that Kobe was far more deserving of MVP since he easily beat the same Spurs team that Chris Paul lost to with far less help on both offense and defense 2008 Lakers vs Spurs in WCF Pau Gasol - 13-10-4 on 45% FG - 73% FT Lamar Odom - 13-10-3 on 40% FG - 69% FT Jordan Farmar - 8-2-1 on 46/42/100 2008 Hornets vs Spurs in WCSF David West - 20-9-2-1-2 on 45% FG - 84% FT Peja Stojakovic - 13-5-0 on 45/48/93 Tyson Chandler - 9-10-1 on 74% FG - 57% FT and 2 BPG Chandler also was mainly responsible for Duncan's offensive struggles Chandler held Duncan to 15-13 on 42% compared to 24-16 on 46% Duncan shot 42.1% FG in the 2008 WCSF, the 3rd-worst FG% he shot in any series after the 2005 Finals and 2016 WCSF (Age 40 - last series of career) Duncan also had 2 points in the 4th quarter of Game 7 against the Hornets (on a foul by David West) and shot 0/4 in the 4th quarter when guarded by Chandler. CP3 had far, far, far more offensive and defensive help than Kobe, yet Kobe sent the same team that eliminated CP3 packing in a quick 5 games. Clear proof he was the vastly superior individual player and deserving MVP Had Chris Paul won the 2008 MVP, he would be the only MVP to never reach a Conference Finals (though now with him riding Harden's coattails, this likely won't last) further proving he was not deserving of the award.

I'm gonna address most of you here. Chris Paul is a better POINT GUARD than Rose, although Rose is a better scorer. But in terms of controlling the game, getting what he wants, and defense, Paul is the better guard. And yes he does defend better than Rose seeing as how I can't remember a year where Paul wasn't top 3 or top 5 in steals. Scoring is all Rose has over Paul.

either way you slice it comparing chris paul to magic johnson is like comparing dwyane wade to michael jordan.its almost disrespectful to magic for even bringing pauls name up in a debate reguarding him.ppl seem to think that it some how takes less skill to be a 6'9 point guard and thats total B.S fact of the matter is magic johnson could have played damn near any position on the court and he would have still been a 1st ballot hall of famer..not many players can say that!!

(Cont) Also, tell me how I used the knee injury as "an excuse" lol where are you getting that from?? I never used it as an excuse all I'm implying is that he was quicker and a more dangerous scorer before he required surgery. That is a true statement backed by a decline in scoring numbers, not an excuse. Never said he was as good as Magic Johnson lol, the 20 and 10 thing was for career playoff stats..I dont know which post you read. lol "kids these days"

as far as teammates go you and a few others where IMPLYING that magics numbers came as a direct result of him playing with great players...its funny you say that as he continued to put up monster seasons even after kareem retired...chris paul played his best ball in new orleans amongst scrubs..when your on a bad team as a superstar in the nba it falls in your lap to put up better numbers it has nothing to do with the talent surrounding you its about taking on the responsibility to play better

(cont) just as bringing up chris pauls lack of help is irrelevant.were not talking about chips were talking about personal statistics.more so than the knee injury chris paul is simply having to do less than what he did in new orleans because of all the talent that is surrounding him in clipper nation...lol put chris paul on the bobcats and i gurantee you his numbers will shoot right back up.don't use a knee injury as an excuse he just isn't on magics level and theres no shame in that at all
