I can’t believe this is many of y’all hearing Chris playing alto for the first time. He started on alto and transitioned to Tenor. And non of you ever heard him shredding Moment’s Notice at age 14 or playing Moondance at 15? Look them up. Still sounds dope on alto

I love the way his ear is really testing the harmonic qualities of the horn....Chris Potter could play a trash can and it would sound good.....

For some reason, I see those 2 videos in my feed. One is Potter and the other one is Candy Duffer playing the same instrument. I have nothing against Candy, but see her very predictable phrasing and compare it to Potter just blows your mind. It's like a street painter(that can do something that still nice) vs Leonardo Da Vinci.

I like that Sam Furgeson thinks C Potter sounds "cheesy....blustering" on Tenor. That really sounds like a well informed opinion. Man......imagine saying that about the best Tenor player of his generation, one of the best all time.

Sounds very bright to me in the top register. Not convinced of the sax's evenness of tone.

yeah i do like his alto playing better than his tenor playing. he's kind of cheezy on tenor. blustering etc.
