My Dad passed away 2 months ago, Today my sister found her Scrap book(where people used to write alot of things like their favourite movies and songs and all sorts of things, it was the trend back when i was school since no one had phones), my dad had also wrote in one of the pages and in his favourite song was this. I never knew the name of the song but the moment the music started i realized, my dad used to listen it everyday. Miss my dad gone to soon. RIP Appa. Miss u everyday.

As a man older than 60 I find this song deeply moving. Having grown up in the sixties and seventies and after listening to a universe of music this song speaks more relevant than ever.
I was a young Dj in 80's and loved that song from the very first time I heard it. Today I am a little bit old man and still love that song. It's only song on my cell phone ringtone from the times when cell phones alow it as an mp3.
When there is a market the music business comes up with the goods, young people do not have a musical ear, so long as they can dance to it they will. Our generation over 30's have been lucky to have access to the very best, we will take our music to our graves which something today's youngsters will not, yesterdays stars (haha) will have been forgotten, so we are the lucky ones.
Funny how Chris Rea, hates his own voice and how it sounds, yet everyone else just loves his deep smooth voice. He nearly gave up on music when he first started back in the late 1970's he drove home one night while the snow fell heavy. When he got home 8 hours latter he had an envelope in his mail box it was also Christmas Eve, he opens the envelope and to his surprise was a huge 7 diget pay chech in his name, it was from a record company that he had doubts of. He shouted out loud, Oh Hallalujah!!! And went on to be one of the greatest singers the world to know 🇨🇦👍😇😇🤸🤸🤸
So many years I was looking for this Song and yesterday night I finally got the chance. It came in the radio and I took out Shazam in a blink of an eye. So now here I am and enjoying this song so hard it brings tears in my eyes ❤️
No one to compare Chris with. Yeah, he shreds 🎸 probably one in a million, once you listen to this song alone you know he's lived them all. More please. Let it rip Chris.
My Dad drove truck for 15 years. When I was real small he played this album for me when I got to join him on one of his routes. To this day this album is one of my favorites and not just because it holds such fond memories of my father but because this album still has some of the most powerful imagery in music today. He deserves an Emmy and a place in the Rock and Roll hall of fame...if he doesn't already.
Like you, I have very fond memories of this song. I had my own business at the time and would work late on occasion. One late evening when this song was first introduced by our local station, I heard it and was completely blown away. The next day, I had to get it. Sometime over the years, I lost track of it and here I am 30 years later hearing it again. Hearing it again is such a refreshing surprise.
There's no way this song comes from this planet, no way!!! Lots of love to each and every one of you who listen to this masterpiece, wherever you are in the world , you must be special! ❤💛💙
of course we are, we have an ear for good musicianship, melody, guitar magic, what else do you want? Yes some decent talent to emerge in 2021 some hopes!
Nudging 2024 and this is an absolute belter! Can't wait to go for a drive. My old man used to play this in the late 80s early 90s. I'll do the same to my boy.. gotta keep these tunes alive!
A very spiritual song Chris and you have had your difficulties along this road of life! God Bless and thank you for being there in my time of troubles along the long road of my life! A brilliant musician who deserves more recognition!
This song is a beautiful and very poignant reflection of the times we've lived and a reminder of what's really important in living our lives on this earth in the time we are given. Thank you C. R., for sharing your love through music for us.❤ Peace and love everyone...keep going and never ever, let go of the fire and the passion for all that is good and worthy of being given a chance to share your love with those who need it the most!
Great great song. Excellent composition, voice and guitarplay. I have seen Chris many times in concert in the Netherlands. Each time terrific. Very good memories. Great guy... !!!!
Великолепное владение инструментом , прекрасная песня , завораживающий голос ...... Но , что очень понравилось в биографии Криса Ри - он имеет семью ! Никаких наркотиков , ни порочащих связей ! МУЖЧИНА !!! Браво !

My father in law owned a top of the range hifi equipment shop in the 80's where Chris Rea launched this album the road to hell in rathmines in Dublin the night of the opening of he got photos taken with him that night but was very annoyed because the waitress that was handing out drinks kept getting in the photos 😅😅😅 he never stops going on about it 🤣🤣🤣🤣 he said Chris was such a down to earth bloke plus my mother in law fell in love with him
i,ve noticed where the russians have events celebrating the 80s, playing music just from the late 70s through to the early 90s, i would love to go to one, cos in my mind & home i,m still in the 80s, & will stay there
Yeah. When you chase money, and not happiness. This song can bring you right back to what being wealthy is... There are families in mansions that are poor, there are families trailer parks that are rich... Can money bring happiness? Yes, only if you exchange it for time..
One of the first songs that got me into music,, I grew up in the same area as Chris. I was 10 yrs old when this was playing on the radio top 20 every day. Haven't heard it for donkeys years and it sounds every bit as good today (2024) 👌
всм петь про смыслы и красиво доносить верные мысли - это большая редкость, как мне видится, в популярном диапазоне творчества и СМИ. Атомизация общества, шкурничество, дикое невежество и самозабвенное бесчестие нынче в тренде
My Nan was dancing round the kitchen to this and I freaked out. I've never ever heard a better song, now Ima listening to this guy and Nan's 70's and 80's music all the time. xoxox the words in this song are STUNNING!!
I heard this when I was young and Chris was young. Boy a lifetime ago. This track was so of the time then and we should have listened to Chris. Now if this isn't relevant now in 2021 then God help us all.x
Sometimes I wonder how artists can make such beautiful tracks.... I have goosebumps every time I listen to this, and sometimes, I am ashamed to say I shed a few tears also I looooove this track 😘😍
Goosebumps don't lie !! That intro though!! This one came out when I was 12. Criminally underrated master! I've been in the USA for 22 years and I've only met one person who's heard of Mr. Rea.
That is a huge shame. An absolute master of the understated vocal and slide guitar, with lyrics that send shivers up the spine. Chris Rea was hue fixture in my teenage years. This song brings back many memories. Opened m y own gigs with this and it was ALWAYS a hug success!
My step dad introduce me to Chris's music when I was eight and today this voice means so much , today we are picking my step dad up from hospital to come home and have his last days at home ,,, I don't know how to do this other then to listen to sounds that remind me of better days and his own kids got no idea the person their dad was,,, he's not much of a music person but he had his favorites still , thanks to music I'm always going to have these moments play back ,,,, 35 years doesn't seem that long ago sitting in back of a VB commodore wondering who the hell this guy was with my mum and now I'm meant to be preparing to say goodbye ..... Thanks to music he'll always be with me 🖤🖤🖤
@@paragonink the hard lessons we all have to go thru suck quite a bit but I'm thankful to be able to see him before he passes rather then been so busy and just receiving a call and never being able see them one last time ,,, thanks
My dad passed away in January 2018 and I'm still not over this. He always loved this song and listening to this makes me remember both happy times and also my regrets. I wish you all the best.
This will be the third Chris Rea song in my dad's funeral mix as we prepare for his final day in this shitty world , it's so sad but he was in so much pain so now he'll be at peace , no matter the preparation it still doesn't make it any easier when they actually go ,,,, thanks for the orsm memories that music brings with it . If you reading this do me a favour and play this track as loud as you can would mean alot and maybe he be able to hear it . 🖤🤘🖤
@@jasonh289 I agree. But be happy what you got. Don't miss all you don't have. There are allways people who life has treat even more unfortunately than you and people who have lived they all life like in paradice. But it is this world. And life is allways great. Because we have just one life.
@@jukkatuhkanen4359 The lives of many unfortunate people who have been dealt a very bad hand in life (including my own) could be best described as a 'living hell'. Such people are not only constantly denied the opportunity to be able to experience most of the things that should/would make life worth living, but in many cases (again including my own) it is or would be very difficult, if not impossible for them to be able to enjoy these things should any of them ever come their way. For such people life certainly isn't 'great', and the belief that this is their one and only life just compounds their already horrific pain, suffering, and misery.
THIS SONG REALLY IS THE GREATEST SONG :IN THE WORLD:AND YOU FANS REALLYLOVEDIT:AND ILOVED IT:SO KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK; CHRIS REA;BECAUSE YOU:RETHEGREATEST;AND I LOVE YOU:❤❤❤❤
