No? I had to re-read you question a few times. Could vs should as well as determining whether you are asking if he should return to Cup or Xfinity or Kaulig vs other team. I would say that he should go to Cup given his age and the similarity of the Cup car with the supercar series. Learning more on the Xfinity Car isn't going to help him drive the Cup car any better. I think he's learned enough about racing etiquette in NASCAR, got a good enough reputation, and the bare minimum about dirty air. At this point, it's better to learn on the Cup car vs an Xfinity car. Now I think it would be bad to drive in Cup for Kaulig, we've seen in that putting a new driver in bad equipment is a disaster (see: Noah Gragson, any of the open wheel drivers, Danica Patrick, Hailee Deegan). I think the combination of a new SVG and a poor Kaulig car would be so bad that SVG won't learning anything useful on the ovals. Even though Trackhouse isn't exactly lighting the world on fire right now, he should go to Trackhouse for Cup. So I would say: 1) Cup -Trackhouse, 2) Xfinity - Kaulig, 3) Cup - Kaulig
SVG fan first from NZ and always cheer for Kaulig racers in the cup. Just want to say I enjoy your passion for the team and your honest analysis of SVG is informative and I'm learning a lot from your video. Awesome videos boys!!!!
Shane Van Gisbergen is 35 years old and has been racing top tier V8's since he was 18. He's clearly talented enough to pilot a Cup car, he proved that the first time he raced in one. He's not going to get any benefit or advantage or improvement out of racing the Xfinity car beyond this season, all giving him one more year is going to achieve is to waste one of the years he has left in racing for absolutely no purpose. He's never going to be unbeatable on oval tracks, but by next season he'll be consistently running top 15 on the ovals and be the shortest price to win on the other tracks (the ones where you need to know how to brake, downshift and turn the steering wheel in both directions). Not giving him a full time drive in Cup next season would be an insult tbh.
I hope your right but if I was placing bets I would not be betting on him running top 15 consistently in cup. He’s just outside of that in Xfinity and cup is way harder competition and until they fix the car it’s harder to pass.
@@KauligNation Give the guy a chance, he's 20 races into his first season in Nascar, he still hasn't even seen all of the tracks yet let alone driven a race on them. He's only just now getting his head around driving around in circles, yet he's ranked 13th, his average finish is nearly 2 spots higher than his average start, and he's a rookie with more Xfinity wins than any other driver this season. That's a fairly solid start. I don't know why people think he's just going to fall off the learning curve between now and November. I know it's not linear, he wont improve at the same rate, but he'll be a much more in tune and sharper driver in another 18 races time than he is now. And if you still don't think he's good enough for Cup by that stage then I''d have to think that you're lacking a little objectivity tbh. But we'll see how his second half goes first I guess.
He’s really good but I think he needs another season in Xfinity. Needs work on ovals and Super speedways. He could wheel around a cup car for sure, but I think he will be disappointed with his results at the end of the year. Road courses will be a piece of cake for him, which we have the most ever now.
The planned deal with Mr Marks was to train SVG for the season in Xfinity then Track House would run him in cup, that was the plan from the get go, now maybe they may contract him out if that plan does not come to being possible in 2025 year, just what we knew from down under 12 months ago. Go the Giz.
I think one of the problems is NASCAR’s new charter rule but I still think SVG will go cup racing with Trackhouse but I’m surprised it’s not announced yet
It was great of Chris Rice to respond to your tweet on X thats awesome giving u giys some feedback. On the SVG going to cup next year I personally think he should move up to cup but probably for trackhouse rather than kaulig. Hes got the jist of ovel racing now/ by the end of this season. The cup cars are alot like the supercars hes uses to driving but this time can bump people where he couldn't or would get penalized in supercars for lol
@@KauligNation yes it would be weird if it wasn't with trackhouse for that fact and the fact trackhouse is the reason he is over there to start with also
SVG DYNAMICS: In case you were not aware this guy won a Supercars race a few years back after qualifying in 17th position. That's after crashing his mountain bike, breaking his collarbone, having a plate installed to hold his shoulder in place, was on pain killers-and nobody thought he would even start the race let alone win it. In fact "high end experts" were saying he should not even get in the car. Well he did...and threaded his way through the field, some of which are Supercar stars. After the race it was discovered he also had three broken ribs. Another day in the office for SVG.
First timer following a lead from Trackhouse Racing who I follow in MotoGP.. If you compare the two formats in Moto GP there are two feeder systems Moto 3 and Moto2 and in NASCAR it seems there is The Cup, infinity and ??? Trackhouse has just signed a major financial contact giving them the means to act on Justin Mark's vision. What does that mean for Infinity. I enjoyed your material and approach. Thank you from Canukaland
Appreciate the insight! Thanks for reaching out and yeah Trackhouse pulling in an investor was a big move! Kaulig really should be looking At that themselves
Just wanted to give a shout out to Chris Rice for responding to us and giving us a bit of dialog on X! Great to have interactions with the team and the man at the top!
Chris Rice said on SiriusXM last Wednesday that they would have an announcement about 2025 after this break and that it would make it clearer for everyone what they're gonna do going forward. A few weeks before that he made a comment that Kaulig's relationship with SVG is up at the end of the season but stayed tuned because they're gonna still be doing business with Trackhouse in the future.... so we'll see
Chris Rice was on SiriusXM again this morning and he said Kaulig would be announcing their Xfinity lineup next week and that it's nothing earth shattering but a big deal for them
Well that will be interesting because those two things don’t go hand and hand. They need to bring in a legit young top prospect regardlsss if it’s cup or xfinity. I think AJ is better off in CUP but I’d accept him in xfinity if they are going to go with two new cup drivers.
God knows...he just texted me. He's on it 😀...or she...or...or....anyway....SVG was sent here by God to race. He shall part the Red Sea of doubters and bring all we loyal SVG fans to the promised land.
@@johnobrien6869 he’d be a wasted seed in the playoffs with the (potential) road course wins. He’s not ready for the ovals. Yes, he’s a hell of a road course driver (believe me I still watch Australian Supercars and have seen what he can do) but he’s not the best option. So to answer back to you, John O’Brien, I do understand the dynamics at play here, thank you very much
He’s doing well enough on the ovals. Not great but he’s been passable by the end of the race but people aren’t understanding how much harder it is to pass in the flawed cup car and competition is much stiffer. 15th - 18th in xfinity is like 25-30th range in cup
That’s about the only way I want to see Lajoie in a Kaulig ride is in Xfinity and maybe not even then! 0 top 10s ever in the cup series on tracks that aren’t superspeedways and no wins in any of NASCAR’s main 3 series. I would pass on him personally
@@KauligNation Well what's sad if he did get in an Xfinity ride for Kaulig it would be the best ride he's had. I don't count the one off for Hendrick at Gateway cause that's one of their worst tracks. Hard to compare Lajoie and Hemric cause Lajoie's never been in a full time JGR car like Hemric
I know Shawn doesn’t like it when I say it, but I think the future of Kaulig Racing is tied to Trackhouse. TH just got an influx of money and Kaulig Racing needs some. I just don’t think Chris can tell us the truth yet, it all goes back to the charters until TH knows if they have 3 charters or 4 they can’t finalize there driver line up. I’m very confident that Suárez and Chastain are staying, I can’t envision a scenario where SVG is not driving for TH next year in Cup. How Zane shakes out is a question. If TH has 4 Charters Zane will get one of them. If TH has only 3 charters, I think Zane will drive one of the Kaulig Cup cars (funded by TH) and AJ the other. Zilich will need a ride next year, I think he will drive one of the Kaulig Xfinity cars (funded by TH). This will allow Justin Marks to grow his vision for TH and Matt Kaulig can continue to enjoy his passion for racing without going into the poor house.
@@stevemansfield3449 the math doesn’t add up. Both teams have 2 charters a piece. Trackhouse likely has a third but starting next year your only allowed 3 unless your Hendrick or Gibbs. It kinda kills any chance of that happening. You are entitled to your opinion man. You can ask Ryan. I wanted the Trackhouse merger a year ago. But I think that time has passed as Rice and Allmendinger have indicated.
@@KauligNation The Charter agreement isn’t signed yet. I can’t help but wonder if some of the more…. Divisive topics.... reportedly in the new agreement (3 charters for everyone but JGR and HMS, France family can own charters too) are just pawns put on the table to be sacrificed during negotiations. We all know the teams are asking for a 15% increase in their split; I can see NASCAR say something like, “we are only going to give a 5% bump, but you can have 4 charters and the France Family can’t own a charter”. I can’t believe NASCAR really cares about 3 cars vs 4, and the France Family has never wanted to own cars before, why start now. The 45% split is what the teams really want, and what NASCAR doesn’t want to give up, I think everything else is just noise. Marks is a racer building a business, Matt Kaulig is a businessman with a passion for racing, these 2 things are not the same. In my opinion Kaulig racing’s “get well plan” is aligning with TH. I think much of Justin and Matt's plan was put in place last fall following Gainbridge's investment in Spire and SVGs win in Chicago before the start of the 24 season. If I'm right the, window hasn't passed, it’s been stuck on a loop waiting on the charters. As you say, Chris Rice has been promising a big announcement this whole season, because he has been expecting the charter deal to be signed "in a few weeks" for the last 8 months. Once the charter deal is signed, teams will be able to populate their business model and solidify their plans.
@@KauligNation Yeah I still think he's going to cup with Trackhouse regardless. They would be foolish not to take him. Makes sense to do some xfinity as well "on the side" as it were.
Why would any team pull the trigger when Trackhouse can only house 2 cars in their facility & they haven't announced a deal with SVG? Im surprised some already have. How big would it be for a Kaulig or Spire to get 3 or more wins in a season?
If SVG is going to stay with Kaulig Racing for another year it better be in Cup...Something differently needs change A.J Allmendinger is old and Daniel Hemric has done nothing in Cup.
AJ is getting up there but he has 3 years and an option for a 4th on his deal and still performs. I think the only way SVG ends up in a Kaulig cup car is if Trackhouse doesn’t want to lose Suarez or Smith for nothing.
@@bearmarsh6579 they would have no wins you are correct but AJ has been far better than SVG everywhere else. You are right to hype SVG on road courses. His road course Driver rating is unreal in Xfinity this year! 132.9 which is insane! But he’s well below AJ everywhere else and consistency still matters. When SVG gets the ovals down and gets more competitive on them he will be an even bigger force!
I would definitely welcome the change. I know people go on about Kauligs building being on RCR property but guess what Kaulig owns the building I don’t think RCR has any legal justification to stop a change like that
