I don't understand lol. Every year Simms is the most accurate but his takes get the most hate. And the same people that hated his take come back the next year and repeat the cycle. Insane 😂😂
I don't get it either. Any time I mention simms too people say he's wrong and make inaccurate claims about stuff he's said and finish with "just a no name qb elo is phil's son". I give up with the common denominator espn or fs1 sports fan lol
@@adamdavis4928 it’s always the same fans that think Skip Bayless and Colin Cowherd are actually intelligent scouting authorities 😂😂 NFL fans are honestly the most ignorant bunch I’m surprised people can even like the sport being that dead wrong about basic talents of the game and parceling out team vs individual influence
Jalen Phillips didn’t choose to leave football. UCLA has a rule that forces players off the team if they get 3 concussions. He had no choice until Miami came and got him eventually
Which is EXACTLY why I wouldn't Draft him before the 6th Round. But some other team will take him and the problem is, once you have more than one concussion, you are much more likely to have another. And I worry about this kid's mental health later in life. I hope it all works out for him. (Now watch, he'll play for 10 years and be an All-Pro).
I think he’s on a positive trajectory towards being an all time great on the edge. Yeah I get the concern for his injury history, but I feel like this past season proved that he can succeed in the NFL despite the injuries
It's one of the things that make so much of football culture so fucking gross. Seriously....FO with your "love the game" slaver con. And both of them legitimizing the mindset....lampshading the issue.
You're right man, that narrative I believed as well until I looked into him. He was forced to retire, and couldn't do anything about it, say least until Miami found a loophole to bring him in
It depends. There are some 4-3 ends, usually power end/strong-side ends, who aren't truly "edge" players and who wouldn't fit as a rush 'backer in the 3-4. Mostly the lean pass rushing types have some flexibility between 4-3 rush end and 3-4 OLB, or "edge" roles. There are exceptions, sure, and I'd argue that someone like Bradley Chubb is an edge player in a 4-3 who is entirely miscast as a 3-4 OLB. But these guys have to generalize to a large degree, and most edge players can be a primary pass rusher out of either 3-4 or 4-3, 2-or-3-point stance. Ten years ago I'd argue that you'd really want more heft on an edge in a 4-3 than a 3-4 because they get less protection from the interior line in a base alignment, but in today's game you can play 4-3 DE at 245.
Rousseau pro day numbers reflect your eval. 30in vert low broad 4.7 is ok but he’s not explosive. Forgot 7.5 3 cone yeah that’s a hard 1st round pass for a lot of teams. That’s not numbers you want to see limits his potential
in regards to Rousseau, how do you luck into 15.5 sacks in your 1st yr starting as a redshirt freshman? just curious, by the way those 15.5 sacks were on just 46 pressures which is insane & not sustainable in any way but still, dudes 6'7" 265 was productive in his 1 & only year starting before opting out. I really hope he's there for my Chiefs
Rousseau is fool's gold. He was supposed drafted due to his athleticism because his technique is not good and he had a bad pro day in that regard. He only wins from the inside he can't rush outside. He's not even top 5 in this class and this class isn't amazing.
Ronnie Perkins is better than Simms thinks. He is too small to play 4-3 end, but that's not a problem for 3-4 teams. He is also one of the only edge rushers to give Tevin Jenkins a problem, who will probably be a late first round early 2nd round offensive tackle.
This DE class, much like last season, is weak. Paye is a boom or bust prospect, but he won't immediately just be amazing right out of the gates, Oweh is very raw, so you can't expect much, and I don't trust Jalen Philips to produce at the next level. Tryon is very interesting, but he has to be a 3-4 OLB. He can't play on the line in a 4-3 consistently without getting beat up in the run game. I don't think there is a single one of them that truly shines next season.
So what is the difference when Justin Fields throws at different angles vs. Zach Wilson. Also seems as if QB like Justin Fields throws fast with zip then they say he is rushing it. But passers like Trever Lawrence or Zach Wilson throws it fast then they call it Zip on the ball. Can you address this for me.
I remember in 2017 Chase Young was the #2 defensive end coming out of high school, behind Jaelan Phillips. Chase is better but Jaelan is still nice tho.
@@samrosendahl392 Nick Bosa is much better than Chase Young.Much better.Stronger and has a better foundation of the technical attributes.Plays the run better and rishes the pass better
YOU’RE NOT SHOWING DAVID AND BO’s first MATCH!!! UNBELIEVABLY HORRIBLE coverage NBCSN I’ve already unsubscribed to the youtube channel. CANCELING Peacock is next
How do you explain his tape... Hitting big downfield throws under pressure in a phonebooth. Trash around his feet, hands in face off balance still diming fools. He may not have the prettiest delivery but he gets it done when the lights come on. Mac Jones never had any pressure or covered WRS. Fields actually overcame adversity.
Greg R. is one of those type of players where Sims.....to his credit will come back later and say he was wrong. One year.....1 less sack then Chase Young in that year........raw.......but has instincts. You dont luck into 15 and a half sacks
Don’t let The Browns draft Jaelan Philips because him and Garret on the field at the same time wouldn’t be fair!!!!! One team shouldn’t have 2 DE’s of that caliber.
Phillips only retired because UCLA had a rule 3 concussions and your done. He didn’t have any options to play football till Schools realized he was available to play for them.
You never said Joseph Ossais name. Why? He was a 1st team All American and 1st team All Big 12 and at the combine he had a 42 inch vertical and a 11 foot broad jump. So EXPLOSIVE. I know you like that word. So why didn’t you ever mention the without a doubt the most explosive guy in the country. Because over never seen or heard about a guy who weighs 260 pounds and has a 42 inch vertical and an over 11 foot broad jump. It was like 11’3’’ broad jump. Thais are fantastic elite numbers for a CB or WR but for a Defensive End they are absolutely absurd.
@@blasteddelts2086 just found this 1. Tua, 2. Burrow, 3. Jake Fromm, 4. Jordan Love, 5. Nate Stanley Hurts at 7 and Herbert at 8 😂😂 Comparing this to Chris‘ rankings it’s insane that JT thought he could rip on Chris‘ evaluations.
@@bryans1883 and Baker mayfield was the best QB in the first season. And Chris simms talks about Josh allen like he selected him as his job 1 qb , when it was lamar 😏
Can't believe Chris Simms just said he'd take Zach Wilson over Justin Herbert. I like Wilson too but you'd rather take a prospect over an NFL player that just broke all sorts of rookie qb records? Makes zero sense.
Yah I honestly don't believe him on that. Wish my Dolphins had Herbert :(((...honestly when you factor in age the only QBs I would take over Herbert are Mahomes, Allen or Watson. Maybe Russel? The list is very short!
RG3 had an amazing rookie year. How’d the rest of them go? Vince Young. Mark Sanchez. I think Herbert is awesome but Chris knows what’s up. While other guys are in their job as tv show analysts, Simms is putting down on record his eye for talent. Future GM.
Zoey B looking how my dolphins incorrectly selected tua tbis year & then watch Herbert have a breakout gear behind the worst o line was so painful, I wish others like us would get our heads out of the sand and consider a qb at 6th overall.
He is just referring to who has slightly better accuracy and ability to get the ball out with no room. Simms picked Wilson because of his accuracy on the run and in the pocket with all angles. I think he would take both if he could. He thinks Wilson will be special but Herbert will be too. If you made him choose, he would take Wilson first. The Chargers are certainly happy with the pick.
@@macarthurclutch2666 man I’m not even a jags fan, but the last time the Jets won a super bowl my grandparents didn’t even have kids yet. Flexing about a super bowl from 50 years ago doesn’t mean much to anyone except you Jets fans. Jags only been around for like 30 years and they’re about to land a better quarterback than any quarterback the Jets have had in their entire history.
Yes your prob right. The thing about rankings in general is that they usually dont take into account coaching and scheme, 2 of the biggest determinators of success. So many guys can be a lot better, or a lot worse, in the right or wrong system
hi criss, in your knowledge of shanahan mind... what would you think about take kyle pits in the 3er pick, like a 3 Wr / 2 TE and go for kellen mond in second round
"Disruption over production." I LOVE that phrase when it comes to Defensive Linemen. If we get players who cause disruption, the production will be there.
Oweh, should be #2. He’s incredible. You take Rousseau and his 15.5 sacks that were all garbage and I’ll take Oweh and my defense will be drastically better than yours.
@@magicfanben hes so incredible that he, the kicker ,punter and the waterboy all have the same # of sacks. ..maybe you like rec with no receptions or QBs with no touchdowns. Silly
@@davebielke6319 Sims literally explained to you what you clearly don’t know about football. Sacks aren’t receptions, they are TD’s. If a WR has 80 rec and 1200 yards and no TD’s, he still had a great szn and helped you score a ton of points. Oweh’ s job is to disrupt the passer, not get sacks. He had 5 the year before and he was a much lesser player that year.
@@magicfanben not one sack ,not one..Amazing ability. An edge rusher who's job it is not to sack the Qb..even a mediocre average non athletic disruptor can luck into a sack, but nothing, nothing. Trade up to 1# and take him..
A DUI drop Dak to the 4 round chip kelly wanted him but jed and the 49ers would not touch him and Mac jones had a fake I'D on him no way 49ers should pick him in the first round
Your scouting on Perkins couldn’t be more off lol. He has more than enough power to be a 3-4 OLB at the very least. He literally threw OSU tackle Teven Jenkins down to the ground with one arm. Not to mention beat him almost every rep that game. Which is impressive because that kid will be a top 20 pick. Ronnie Perkins has done nothing but produce since starting as a true freshman. Per PFF he was one of the highest overall graded edge players last year. Only player with 90.0+ in run defense and pass rush grade.
Lance and Fields are going to bust horribly. Neither one are nearly ready, both are gonna get drafted earlier than they should, gonna start earlier than they should, gonna struggle, and Probably gonna get hurt because of their reliance on running.
What accuracy issues is he talking about with Fields..Im a Wolverine fan but a blind man can see that Fields is friggin unreal.. To compare Mac Jones ,who is surrounded by 1st round NFL talent and struggles to throw the ball further than 45 yds , to Fields is bordering on comical...
Dude Fields mechanics are trash and it shows because his only real accurate throws are the deep ones you talk about. Mechanics work them selves out when you have to throw it 50. Arm is a limp noodle and has no awareness of his feet. It’s why at his pro day he worked vigorously to show that he was better in both areas. But both of those mechanical flaws are seriously hard to overcome at an NFL level, but not to say it’s impossible. If you go back to the Clemson game he missed a few short throws that a highschool QB should have made
To quote Simms, Mac Jones is “a machine throwing the football.” I think most people would perceive Fields as being more raw, though he’s an excellent prospect as well. It’s entirely subjective, so to call another take “comical” is what’s actually comical.
I was with you till you started on mac Jones. 1-Ohio state has comparable talent so can everyone stop with that bs of alabama getting all the 5 stars 2- mac can sling it, end of story 3- you're right though fields if the mechanics become a little quicker and more consistent could be dangerous
Sorry but the film shows Fields does not see the blitz and doesn't know how to read the defenses. A lot of times he is stuck on the first read (if you are being honest, you admit it) or the defenses had a free rusher and Fields didn't see the guy(s) coming most times until they were right there. The NFL has a way of making you do the things you cannot do until you can do it or you bust. See multiple QBs in the past like Rosen, Geno Smith, Vince Young, Deshone Kizer, Trubisky and many others who had weaknesses amplified.
Bro you obviously love Justin Fields and also hate watching game film 😂 Wilson on Ohio state with those matchups... you wouldn’t even believe how good that offense could be. Dude’s mechanics are flawless and seriously impressive athleticism when sliding to throw. Fields was behind Ohio states O-line (consistently more talented than the line across from them) and still couldn’t read pressure. Looks for the first man and then just splits out of there clowning on Big 10 defenders with his legs
Beating 8 in coverage is harder than beating the blitz. Northwestern dropped 8 in coverage against Fields which is why he had a bad game. These guys are still learning the position.
