I had to smile when you mentioned "the dog song". When that ASPCA commercial would come on, my son who was around 4yo at the time would run from the room. He couldn't handle it; the commercial was too sad. I had to tell him when it was safe to come back to the living room. That same little boy graduates Army basic training in 2 days 💚
My daughter used to run from the room also from the photos of the abuse in combo with her hauntingly sad voice on this song.Now she's grown up and walks dogs for a living,and loves them to pieces!

as great as this version is, the Don williams version is also amazing. His voice is totally different...velvet and butter. The female harmony line that Morgane does that is so powerful was first developed in the Don Williams version

The original Don Williams version was one of my favorite songs as a kid. My cousin even named her daugher Amanda after that song! Can you please do the original? Looks like you have a lot of requests for it.
Don Williams wrote and sang this first 1973. Now that you have opened this great singer, song writer you should check out some of his other songs. Don Williams was so good that 42 of his 46 singles made it into the Top 10 from 1974 to 1991. Between 1976 and 1981 Don Williams was named CMA Top Male vocalist. He did not win in 1978. Check out "Tulsa Time" and "I Believe in You" and "Amanda" the original version. I agree that Chris and Morgane Stapleton did a really good cover of "Amanda".
