My dad passed away last night in hospital aged 88 .it was clear his dialysis wasn't helping anymore so we called it a day .His final days were good and pain free we talked and i played some of his favourite Johnny cash songs on guitar by his bedside . Its wonderful to hear Chris play and sing this tribute to his dads passing. Its not a difficult song except when your full of tears but ill try all the same.
My Dad was a coal miner also. He was a preacher and a pastor. The coal dust eventually took his life, but that's exactly how he would pray, down on his knees with his head down on the floor. I still regret the times I thought I was right and he was wrong. Thanks Chris, beautiful song.
IF A TEAR DOESN'T COME TO YOUR EYE YOU ARE NOT HUMAN ... ONE OF THE BEST SONGS I HAVE EVER HEARD .... A TRUE ARTIST WHO HAS FOUND HIS GOD GIVEN TALENT (SORRY FOR CAPS LIKE TO SEE WHAT I TYPE) ....AND YES THIS SONG MAKES ME APPRECIATE MY DAD AND LOVE HIM EVEN MORE THAN I THOUGHT I COULD !!!!!!!
My Daddy was a coal miner and preacher. He got killed in a mining accident when I was 10 years old many years ago. This reminds of my Daddy and my Mom and I've lost both of them. Love this song but it sure does bring the tears on.....
addiction took my dad. he prayed everyday the dragon would go away,, But that dragon took him from me ... love ya dad I miss u soon ... your Grandson does too... he follows your steps
My younger brother introduced me to this song on (October 9 2017) when our dad was terminal on hospice (Who passed on October 12, 2017.) This got to me pretty deep/hard. Its a good song for kids who have/had good relationships with their dads. And for sons to be the exact same role model for their future kids.
Downloaded this song last night and was listening to the album while I was mowing my yard. Not where I expected to be when I started ugly crying, but whatever. This is just beautiful
I was at this very performance. Thanks for posting this. I'll be singing this at my fathers funeral tomorrow and really wanted to hear this particular version.
Ever since we Lost the Jones, we have been missing an artist who can sing about a broken heart. I'm glad that songs like this are still making it through in country music.
an absolutely beautiful tribute to his father and really anyone that's lost a parent. Listening to the words reminds me of my dad. God bless you Mr Stapleton for writing such a touching song.
don't worry Chris he smiling down son on you and Morgana. .....we look foward to seeing you in Dublin March 11th Greetings from IRELAND 😉 salamat for this gem
[Chorus:] Daddy doesn’t pray anymore I guess he’s finished talking to the Lord He used to fold his hands and bow his head down to the floor But daddy doesn’t pray anymore I remember even when the times were bad He thanked Jesus for everything he had For a good wife and three children And the food upon our plates Yeah, everything was right when he said, grace [Chorus] There was a time when we didn’t get along Cause I thought I was right and he was wrong Still when I laid down at night I’d hear him get down on his knees And say a little prayer for me [Chorus] Today I followed daddy down to church And listened to the preacher read God’s word We sang his favorite hymn but daddy didn’t make a sound This afternoon we’ll lay him in the ground But daddy doesn’t pray anymore I guess he’s finally walking with the Lord He used to fold his hands and bow his head down to the floor But daddy doesn’t pray anymore
it pisses me off that this video only has 18000 views but if you put a rappers name on any video its gonna have a t least a million views thats backwards if you ask me
conner young. rap is kid's music and kids are more familiar with modern media, that's why they get more hits. my music is country and 50' s rock and roll. if you look at these genres on you tube they have a lot of hits too. what i want to see is when rap is 50 years old where will it be? if i'm still around lol
