Oi brother, I'm here on a rewatch after the podcast you did with old matey, broooooo, I'm fucking dying before you've even got the video started. Don't ever doubt yourself mate, you are a fucking specimen of a unique specimen of man, you deserve all the success you receive, financially, but most importantly, spiritually and to the goodness of your soul.
His foot technique is so weird. I looks like he just muscles through everything. I'd be interested to see if he could do longer runs at high bpm or if he'd get fatigued quickly
I'd recommend watching some Oceans Ate Alaska full live sets and skipping to the end of them. I would pass out by the ending but somehow Chris stays 100% the whole set.
Check out the Oceans Ate Alaska drum cam videos from Warped Tour 2016. My favorite part of those videos is watching the reactions of everyone backstage as the Terminator slays his drum kit.
Definitely interested in his pedal settings = seat high and when camera shows his pedals- footboard higher angle and has to be max spring tension- makes me want to quit drumming lol but Chris does have a good positive attitude when talking to other drummers but man wish I could play I could get my feet equally as good as well - Haven’t listened to anything else in my car since album drop .🔥🔥🔥🔥
Any Twitch members know why the stream this came from isn’t archived? Think it was July 8th. I had to leave early, and it was an especially good stream. Cheers!
I don't get how anyone can play sitting lower than this, when I started "playing" drums I had to lean on the snare n stool to lower myself to even touch the kick so when I could reach I was only used to being as high as possible
Craig theres some pretty interesting physiological stuff going on with people who bury the beaters vs. people who don't, you might be interested in that shit. i didn't look too deeply into it but it seems like taller players can benefit from burying them because the calf muscle is doing more of the work on average that way, and ol CT here is one tall sexy fella
Lol the main reason is plain and simply that a lot of drummers, at least while tracking drums, use triggers, and if you bury the beater, it can and will send false signals. Chris doesn't use triggers ever, so, he doesn't have an issue. I'm sure there probably is some physiological stuff along with it, however I'm willing to bet that what I just said is more likely the case. For some people like myself it actually helps my technique as well, though I have a hard time putting to words exactly how.
Playing with a reso head with no hole and very little damping, that really reveals the sound of burying vs not burying. Both are good, but not burying is the open "808 kick" sound, and is a good 10dB louder than burying. The slappy modern thrash style of double kick is fine for fast fills, but is horrid for playing grooves where tone is important. This player could do with doing some work on tone & finger control + strength - his snare work is somewhat lacking in tone and articulation.
Turner is a beast indeed!!! If he's not takes steroids for sure has his own way to do this speeds untriggered!!! Craig i wait your video comment to One hand drumming at all Slipknot, Dream Theater, Green Day , Avenged Sevefold etc. of El Estepario Siberiano but with his EAD10 system only!! That produces more thoughts about..why EAD10 and not Studio remix??
it def appears there is a drummer or two that have used in order to build chops a little faster i assume? pure speculation of course. and not a horrible idea if you use them properly haha. or abuse them sheeeeiit get swole
just gotta be careful who you interview with these days i suppose thinking from his point of view. you come off a bit like a prick but after watching a while, its apparent that your just being humorous. lol, his videos havent really exploded or nothing yet, but then again, even bad publicity is good publicity. just look up lil sassy from my hometown Craig, and you'll see what im talking about hahaha if you need some good content to make fun of id watch that in a heartbeat lol subbed
