Hi
The guys at CARV have been kind enough to send me inserts that fits inside my boots between the outside shell and the liner. The call it "Your Digital Ski Coach" and it is supposed to improve my skiing by analyzing how I ski and suggest areas of improvement. I am very exited as it will give me data of fore aft balance, edge angles, parallel shins, symmetry of turns, max speed, number of turns etc.
Will CARV improve my skiing? Lets find that out in future videos now, let's UNBOX my New Ski Coach :).
Note, everyone watching until the end of the video will be rewarded with a CARD trick. Not a CARV trick. A CARD trick. Performed by CHRIS. CARV trick's and CARVING trick's in later videos.
Special note, this is my first ever UNBOXING video. How did I do?
reg
Tom

Those are cool, basically you add adaptive suspension and drive modes :))

Any latest feedback on CARV? I'm CSIA Level 2 working on 3 -- do you think this might help somebody like me? I'm sure the numbers generated by CARV are interesting but I'm just not sure if the system actually tells skiers how to achieve the higher numbers especially those at my level. Is this a device that you and your other instructors/coaches have adopted not just for your skiers but also for your own ski improvements?
@Triggerboy62
@Triggerboy62 Год назад
This has definitely been for our own ski improvement. To set it up takes time and we never have that time with students.The benefit for me has been not so much the instruction part but the numbers. I use the numbers to coach myself. Its like training with a clock. But instead of telling you how fast you were it tells you how good you were. And the better you are the faster you will be! Wow, did I just made that s**t up myself? Hahaa... hopefully I answered your question. Cheers, Tom

@@Triggerboy62 Thanks for getting back Tom. So I guess what you are saying is that you used Carv as a diagnostic tool to reveal from numbers, what you are doing well and what it thinks you need to improve on -- then as a high level coach yourself, you used your own toolbox of training drills and methods to work on those improvements rather than whatever tips Carv might provide? Now two years later, are you still using Carv? I understand they have added a module with Ted Ligety which I assume would be of interest to you as a race coach.

Love to hear any update now ! Does it help actually with carving?
@Triggerboy62

Hi, thanks for asking. I have not been able to make a follow up on the CARV's as these two past years have been more than challenging for everyone in the ski instructor and coaching industry due to lockdowns and restrictions and basically no trawling. Anyway, to answer your question, yes, they have actually been very helpful. Not so much in teaching me how to carve since I already know how to do that to some extent but these go so much beyond just the basics of carving. They give you loads of detailed information of witch I have had lots of use but also lots of fun. Really entertaining. Its like skiing with a friend. I really liked the feature to have my stats listed and compare to others and figuring out how to score higher. Once I overcame the initial technical challenges they did not slow me down much every time I went skiing. You need to have the batteries charged and also your phone but other than that its pretty much just start a new session and then ski. And listen to feedback on the lift. And they are really well suitable for a short hill as you can listen to the feedback often in the lift. I will try my best to make a follow up video this winter. Stay tuned. Cheers, Tom

@@ScottyInVancouver Hi, I think that CARV is suitable for all skill levels. Also skiers that are new to carving. It is really hard for regular people that don't have any expert friends that can help and give accurate feedback. CARV will. And you can mind your own business and build self confidence. Check out my 3 Levels Of Carving video and those other I have on carving. The problem with carving is getting the skis to carve. Pick a very easy slope and dont worry if you spend hours upon hours on the bunny hill. I do that too with students new to carving. CARV + my videos on RU-vid and personal feedback will be an cheep way to learn how to carve. Not every instructor out there on the snow will be able to give you accurate carving instructions. Just saying.... I know... Cheers, Tom

@@Triggerboy62 thank you ! I did watch 3 lv of carving too which I love it ! It is scary like you said in video let the ski turn for me 😰instead I turn the ski . But I'll try the step you suggest like on easy slop and just glide along etc . Because when I try to do it in blue run whistler , it either too fast and I end up "pushing" my turn during direction change 🤣I'll look into this product!

Been looking at CARV for some time, should I , Shouldn’t I purchase. Been unsure about how much effort is involved daily with connecting / charging every time plus removing and then resetting the clips and Syncing . Look forward to your view later as I think the feedback looks impressive and useful . Keep up the good work

Thanks and thanks for watching. So far there has been absolutely zero hazzle. Charging, connecting, phone usage etc. Only the very first time it took some time setting it up.

Do you think carv will go up in price?
@Triggerboy62
@Triggerboy62 3 года назад
I have no idea. However, what I do know is that CARV is inexpensive as it is with all the features and data it provides us with. The product is not only pressure sensors like something only the pros in combination with university professors used in the past. It is so much more. And, in the future they will keep on developing CARV beyond what is imaginable right now. Value will go up for sure.

Concept is really cool! What do you think of carv? How accurate is it, and is it worth the money?
@Triggerboy62

Hard to say if its worth the money but I have had a blast using it and its been very helpful. I have learned a lot. And this technology will develop in ways we cannot imagine now. I will make a video shortly about my experience with them.

Chris not testing yet. He is in the army. But I have been testing it for a week. It works. Better than that, it's really awesome. Been skiing with it all day. Did lots of CARV tasks with max edge angles over 80 deg.

Sorry, been really busy skiing every day but now I have a day off. The insole is thicker at the heel and thinner at the front toe part. Toe part is 2,2mm and at the heel it is 3,1mm. At the middle where the cable is attached there is a small bump at 4,1mm. I have fairly snug boots but I had no issues with an overly tight fit. Hope this helps.
