Iona, you are so right!! When my mother was in the hospital & dying from cancer, my daddy put a sign on the outside of her door at night that said, "Do not walk into this room. My wife is resting, & you do not want to disturb her!" I loved it!! He was her hero, & he was there to protect her. You definitely do not get rest in a hospital. I know they're amazing people & are doing their jobs, & God bless them, but sometimes, rest is more important. It was at that point for my mother 💞

Jimmy I have walked in your shoes many years ago with my husband and some weeks were just like you described with Chris. Then the next week there would be positive steps in his recovery. I agree. It's a huge sign, in my opinion, that she's there. She just needs time to heal. It's exhausting just to be sick with a sinus infection or the flu! This was a lot tougher than those, & it's just going to take time!!

You spoke of Chris seeming to slow down in her progress. She's been subjected to a whole lot of different emotions, struggling, and the ups and downs of the rehab and healing process. Even those who have experienced similar or even the same trauma as she has, we can't know exactly how it's affecting her. But I have noticed that it's not unusual to have peaks and valleys where we become stressed or even tired and it slows us down and even takes us back a step or two but I see her as a fighter she will be right back on top of the road to recovery. Both of you are truly an inspiration to the rest of us. God bless and thank you for the update.
Some times God wants to let her rest in him until it is time to start again. Please watch for depression that can cause people to want to give up. Let her know we all love her and are still praying on her behalf.

Yep.. she made progress and now she’s taking a break so her mind can catch up ….then she’ll progress again .. that’s normal…Just happy she’s home .. She’ll get there .. She’s probably thinking she’s not making progress enough to satisfy herself … She did a lot before she had this stroke .. and she feels like everyone is catering to her now ,when she was the one who catered to you all .. Yeah I can see how she felt like apologizing … She’s not accustomed to this .. Thank you for the update on Chris. Praise God for how far she’s come. There will be good and bad days, make sure you give her an extra hug on the off days. When you mentioned Chris saying she was sorry took me back to 1995 when I had my spinal tumor removed. Everything changed for me, my wife and children, I can relate. Love ya Brother Jimmy!

Jimmy please tell Chris that she will get better , because I had three strokes one when I was 8 years old and two more. But the one that messed up my right hand and leg , and the Doctor told my mom and Dad that I would never walk again, I can walk but the one side effects is the small movement on my right side is limited but I thank God for that stroke now because I can teach people that just because I have a disabled I'm still so strong. Oh Mr. Jimmy that was so lovely to hear you say those kind things when your wife said she was sorry..I guess that's the way it should be for a husband to react that way..I have chronic lyme disease and can no longer walk but a few steps..I'm in severe pain everywhere..i cant do all the thousands of things around the house that I used to.. it makes a person feel really bad .. It makes a person feel even worse when the husband feels sorry for himself rather than the person that can no longer do these things.. makes you want to give up...thankyou for being such a kind loving unselfish husband..Chris will certainly get better faster by you doing so.. It's nice you have all that help..ill.keep praying for her healing..God will put His loving arms around you ..because you need comfort too my friend...

Jimmy, when I had my knee replacement surgery, the Rehab Center put me on a machine in my bed that would stretch my leg out straight and then bend it up towards my body. This was done 3 times a day. They may have used this on Chris at the Rehab Center. I know it helped to strengthen my leg. Hope this might help Chris. I bet she was thrilled to see her babies.🦌 God will take great care of you and Chris. Praying daily for you and your family and to heal Chris. Hope you find Ranger soon. My dad took care of my mama after her stroke back in 2011. Whatever my mama wanted my dad would try to do for her. The good Lord is still healing Chris even though it may not seem like it. Just continue having faith for it is only through our good Lord that all things are possible.
Jimmy do like my son did we had a step stool for the truck for me!!! When was the last video of Ranger !!! Chris loves you a lot and Chris doesn't have a BROKEN MIND OR BODY it is RESTING half of it . Chris will be at Sherri's and have help there also it is normal for a pts to sleep a lot the first wk or 2 so it will get better.
I thought of the step stool as soon as Jimmy said it. Chris still needs some pt and ot to build up her muscles. I was bed-ridden for 2 full months straight in the Hospital and another 32 days after in a nursing home. Then another month in the hospital and another month in rehab for severe MRSA infection. Toxemia of the blood and marrow. Crumbled 10 vertebrae from the inside marrow out, 7 in the back and 3 in the neck. Every 4 hours around the clock, someone giving me Vancomycin in one of 6 different PICC lines. 4 on the right arm. Too much scar tissue. 2 more on the left arm. Peripherally Inserted Circulatory Catheter: PICC line. An IV can only stay in for 7-10 days. A PICC Line? Up to 3 months at a time. 18 months... been there, done that. Chris will need many months and years to come back. At 2 years post-med incident, they will be ~80% of where they will be into the future, I believe... ? Not a Doc, but just having so much time spent in the hosp, and with my brother who had a severe brain injury on his Second Military Tour. We need to pray for Chris, Jimmy, the entire family, his many business ventures, the med staff... Jimmy puts on a smile in front of the camera, but I can only imagine what pain he is experiencing deep down in his heart, right? Love him like no tomorrow... ⚘🙏❤🙏⚘

It's so so hard when your mind is sending a message to your body, but your body won't respond. It will all come together but it will take lots of time. Blessings to you and your family. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Recovery is trying for everyone. Maybe put yourself in her shoes & see it from her eyes. God is working very hard to make the changes necessary for her to progress on her terms. She may not be the same Chris physically but mentally she's doing her best & will be physically capable as time goes on. Slow your expectations down a bit & let her catch up when she can. Jimmy, you hang in there. I'm going through a similar thing , My husband of 48 years was diagnosed with alzheimers and after caring for him for 7 years at home I had to put him into a nursing home because of my own health issues, It is hard but with Gods help we can get through this.

Jimmy, just to live and come home after such a stroke is a miracle in itself.. My mother had one similar at 84, we just lost her in early May at 91.. Mom never did gain her right side back and was never able to do a lot of talking.. It is a ton of work I'll be the first to say. But to have Mom the last 6yrs was a blessing...

Mr. Houston, I can totally relate with you about loving someone more than you ever have. I loved my wife of 41 yrs., and I can honestly say that since I lost her 3 yrs. ago, I love her more now than I ever did. I truly believe that absence makes the heart grow fonder. Keep that optimistic outlook!

After our car crash, broken legs & jaw, brain injury, left side paralyzed, when I did get home from the hospital & started moving around the least little bit, I'd have to sleep for a while. I remember not talking much - just needed total rest - didn't want to think much. Maybe Ms. Chris just needs rest & for nobody to expect her to do anything - no pressure!! I'm obviously not a professional - just sharing what I know from my experience. Her mind is there. She's thinking. God gave you that blessing with those words she spoke to you. Rest with her. Jimmy, I've told you I had a stroke, January 27th, 2020. The biggest physical issue was my left arm. I had jerking motions within that arm for months afterwards. What it is, a stroke damages nerves... I'm sure they've told you this, and it takes time for thos nerves to heal and rebuild, so to speak. I don't know the severity of Chris's stroke, but the concept is the same regardless. A stroke damages the nerves that give a human body the ability to communicate with limbs, tongue, every joint. I'm sure Chris's was much more severe than mine - I did not have any brain bleed; I was surely fortunate. Hang in there; at this date, May 25th, 2021 I no longer have any jerking motions in that arm. My speech is 100%. We are all praying for her and you; your family.
Going home Chris probably feels more at ease and comfortable! God has a plan for her and he is going to heal her in time.
