You GUYS are the BEST! Thank you all for 100k! *siri play hannah montana* Its been an awesome journey chatting it up with you peeps :) Announcement on TUESDAY's video. See you guys there
Hey singleplayernacho I just want you to know that when chris walker was mumbling at 1:34 he said "it is vagely of patients of vicious intent" but it might not be what he said but I heard vagely, patients, and vicious intent
so, ı wonder if he managed to kill everyone, what will he do after that? he gonna commit suicide or what? he want wallrider for himself or he want to destroy him?
@@windmaster9 Yep. He’s just a guy you don’t want to mess with. I couldn’t imagine being chased by a former Marine with super strength. His strength is top notch, and he has cqc skills from training. Scary combination
I feel like he's trying to kill you throughout the game because it's the only way he knows how to contain the Walrider.. He has to kill anyone who could potentially become a host to the entity.
I mean how else could he contain it y'know, like maybe if he went to destroy the machine but theres just no way of him knowing to do that, i wonder if he knew about other ways to contain it would he have chosen those less violent methods
@@augustocoss3687 I'm sorry. Show me where I said Chris was a hero.. I wouldn't have had to read the comics to figure out Chris is a madman.. It's not even implied.. Everyone you encounter in the game is whacked out of their fucking skulls.. But he is still just as complex as someone like Trager.
@@fobo3361 I want to say he is in a way rationalizing, but he's limited. He's manic, fixated on security protocols. He's a soldier. He's good at killing, and he probably likes to kill.. He murdered several war veterans and kept their heads at one point. Destroying the Engine probably never crossed his mind.
@@normiepasta618 yeah, he's an extremely intresting character, and EASILY the best security guard out their, if you need a place secured by any means necessary thats your guy XD
In a way chris walker is a hero trying to stop the walrider from leaving mt massive by killing all possible hosts for the walrider. Sad he failed in the end
As in the comics, Chris was a security officer at the asylum I think. You can visit his office with walk through mod. His face is effed up before all the treatments because he was shot by the lady that was in his appartment. He was very duty oriented and wanted to please his employers to a point of childlike to a parent.
@@pyroshayniac1090 You got it a bit mixed up. He ripped a chunk of skin from his forehead to achieve a truer way of sight, similar to Tuatara Lizard's with their third eye, as he was said to claim. He ripped off his lips and nose out of a severe case of anxiety around his flesh, particularly around the aforementioned parts. Then, as OP said, his face is also partially messed up from being shot through the face, specifically through the jaw.
The most scariest Chris Walker encounter is when you are in the Sewer and it is very dark and you have to climb up those stairs and jump on the ladder and that part always gives me anxiety because I never knew Chris Walker was even down there and on Insane Mode is even harder
RIP Chris. Despite that he was insane serial killer he still had something good inside him. He killed everyone on his way but in the same time understand something.
@@thefalloutkid13 Oh No, they're far worse. They're basically at fault for his "creation" by sending him to mount massive after being "fired" instead of sending him to jail or outright killing him. (By "They" I mean Murkoff, not Miles)
@@thefalloutkid13 (In Murkoff Account) Paul Marion And Pauline Glick (finance mitigation for Murkoff) investigate 3 killings in a Murkoff controlled clinic to do damage control. A doctor dies and they find out Chris Walker did it (he was the security guy). They fight him and shoot him (doesn't die) and he's sent to MM cuz Murkoff recycles employees as Guinea pigs
The living freak show, I'm aware, separate branches have different reputations and specific cultures, but I'd think the different military branches would all have certain things in common.
@@dylanhaugen3739 According to backstory Chris was apparently very childlike and naive before going insane from the PTSD sustained in Afghanistan, so it might be doubtful that he was sophisticated enough to spend time with hookers
If anything chris was trying to s t o p him from getting deeper . Father martin is the one who thought miles was their savior and wanted him to witness the walrider, and stop him, which clearly backfired since they both died (I mean not really miles but u get the point)
Chris was the first sign that Miles was to leave on. If Miles left which he would’ve then Chris wouldn’t stop him as he would be out of range from himself and the Walrider. Second Martin cut the power to drive Miles deeper to turn it back on that’s when it gets bad. Martin is the one who put Miles in the mess not Chris, Chris was the one who was a sign to keep out of it.
The "Detectives" were murcoff corporation agents who sent Chris to the first-game asylum, in the asylum was exposed to the expirements and became the monster we found in the game.
@@eckteckteckk171 How tho? He's too big to enlist and nothing states he has gigantism (although this may also point out his aggression since a tumor that's activating his growth hormone could also be touching the part that makes you angry.)
@@snakevenom4954 he was probably muscular but above average build back when he enlisted but he might've got thrown in the morphic engine and that's what caused his insanity and gigantic build.
Damn. As much as I am terrified of him, I can't help but feel a great deal of sorrow for him. He's suffered a lot, childhood trauma, PTSD from Afghanistan and torture and mutilation. His mind is all over the place, he doesn't understand if his methods of containing the Walrider are right or wrong and at this point he doesn't care. So far that he is willing to kill Miles, a complete stranger
He goes after Miles so specifically and constantly because he knew Miles was at a high probability of becoming the host for the Walrider. He was the first person to see us and from the moment he threw us out that window he probably saw Father Martin and immediately heard or knew what was going on. He probably knew Father Martin's goals before our arrival.
the line where he says he'll make the pain stop probably references the procedures needed to control walrider. the patient must first suffer immense pain.
@@augustocoss3687 If that were the case then thiis video would not exist I think you're mis-informed and need to watch the video or just stop trolling it's not funny
@@rickthehuman7151 there has to be something wrong with his mom or relationships between parents in general , which is crack his brain from beginning(childhood) and all this madness , pain combined in one powerful weapon = psyhopath. As for me he is still victim :(
I love Chris Walker so much. My favourite character of all the games, and it's so sad that a guy that was genuinely sweet and well-meaning got tortured so badly. Even Miles Upshur kind of appreciated / liked him in his notes, and was sad when he died.
I think he sees the protagonist as a bad guy since they are a reporter who could spread the news of the wallrider to other corrupt people like militaries or other corporations
What I love about Outlast is it has the most original and creative horror villains in both video games and cinema. Honestly think about it… The Groom, Richard Trager, The Twins, Chris Walker…
Taking trophies from their kills is common with soliders. Look up what a kill book is, I've even seen stories of marines in WW2 taking the skulls of dead Japanese soliders as trophies, and FDR got a letter opener made of human bone from a solider.
@@singleplayernacho also he is chaotic good cause the ends justify the means, lawful evil means he belives that for the sake of good I'll break the law, but to Chris he wants to destroy it all if it means the walrider dies
Some serial killers are "duty killers" and believe everything they're doing is justified because they're doing good in the world. The taking of trophies is actually pretty natural for these killers because they see it as a reminder of them conquering over the bad guy, who deserved what he got because he was, well, bad. A lot of soldiers are known to have this mentality after they've been through really intense warfare.
7:20 This dude is 100% chaotic evil. Committing evil with the goal of stopping evil is still evil. He might be lawful if he has rules of engagement that he follows but as a force of nature murderer who just wants to murder an evil worse than himself, he's still very evil and very chaotic. That's just my opinion tho.
Chaotic evil means a person just want to see the world's burn. Chris is more like a chaotic neutral or even chaotic good guy, his goals is to keep the walrider inside the asylum. You do know that morality is based on what inside a person head rather than the action, right?
According to the lore he was a naive but pleasant man that was sent on duty to Afghanistan way longer than he should have (I mean who wouldn't want a soldier that's this strong?) and encountered unimaginable psychological trauma, then got sent to Murkoff and became a security officer, seeing all the violence there only worsened his condition, then eventually he got thrown in with the other inmates after his already damaged mind finally broke and he went insane. Tragic end for a once decent man On a side note: Fly high soldier. You have our full permission to slaughter every demon you come across in hell and every evil spirit that's haunting a person :')
Ever since i played Outlast, the phrase little pig and Chris grabbing you for the first time always plays in my head. It scared the absolute hell outta me.
At least Chris thinks he's doing good, he thinks he's putting little piggy out of his misery, he probably sees the world as a horrible place especially after the war, seeing all the violence and torture, he's probably seen a lot of people kill themselves over it, and him killing them in his eyes is just helping them escape from this world, without having to go through the pain of killing themselves
Agreed 👍 I didn't really see him as a bad guy he was just trying to stop the walrider so in a weird way I feel sorry for all the stuff he went through because of murcoff corporation.
@@ismaelgingles9409 Ikr, well said. I mean, Murkoff used him as a guinea pig in an experiment that destroyed his sanity. He had trauma. His co-workers made fun of him and he was still a nice guy before the events of "Outlast", but not for long. I think one of the only ones who were cruel because they liked it were: Rick Trager and Frank Manera.
Regarding Quote 1# Red on Red. When I was growing up my dad suffered from PTSD (not from the military or war, but from being a health worker, homeless and experiencing violence). What I've learned from growing up with him is that sometimes when you get PTSD every negative emotion can become anger instead. Fear? Anger. Sadness? Anger. Anger? Anger. And so on. I think most of what you said could be true, but I also believe that it's possible he could be reliving Afghanistan in his head and therefore he may also be scared, as one would be and as he definitely was back then. The fear converts to anger and the anger converts him to the killing machine he is. He may think he's still on the battlefield, especially since he seems/is psychotic as well, the two conditions may have combined and he may be experiencing flashbacks, hallucinations as well as reliving the events simultaneously. That's just my own theory based on my own experience with the disorder and mental health over the years, could even be that Chris's backstory isn't even as deep as we're making it, that he's just there to be creepy and they only did minimal backstory work while us players are filling in the rest.
Another thing, Chris worked for Murkoff during his whole killing spree and the "detectives" actually work for Murkoff as well. They blamed the murders on another guy named Omar I believe and then they took him to Mount Massive to be experimented on. I believe the first part is about him actually thinking that even though he is killing the inmates to keep the Walrider from escaping, he doesn't think that his killings are justified. Just gonna add another part now that I am done watching the video, the quote "I'm coming you won't have to kill yourself." is actually said after the part where Miles gets blown up while being chased by Chris Walker during the Prison Block chapter, I think in his head he believes that Miles tried to kill himself even though it was just chance.
Rip in peace Chris Walker, I will always have fond memories of running from you as you tried to remove my head from my body, without my consent. I’ll miss you buddy.
@@singleplayernacho haha there’s only a couple more mods. I believe they are GeneralWhiskey, Exoticsz and Kirito. Also I have a THEORY. What if Chris is only super mad because the detectives took his little pig toy and he’s searching for it, hence why he said “You were here weren’t you, little pig” because he thinks that his toy was there 😂
i feel like chris calls the player “little pig” because he wants to be our friend , but his mind is overcome with PTSD that he doesn’t really know anything other than trauma and blood and that’s why he kills people and says he can “make the pain stop” because he’s in so much pain himself , that he feels that if he kills other people maybe it’ll help him heal. i feel like he just wants help but he can’t really ask for help ??? some of the stuff he says makes me think he’s aware of what he’s doing , and since he was in war he maybe uses military techniques as a way to cope ? cause i’ve heard PTSD is really intense and in the real world most veterans have trouble going back to civilian life so like i guess chris’ way of coping with being a civilian and having PTSD was to kinda give into his bloodlust cause it made him feel like he was in war again. idk i’m just throwin out ideas
He is actually protecting people since he is trying to stop the wallrider from getting a new host. If the wallrider gets a host either everyone will die or everyone will suffer.
Imagine walrider escaping mount massive asylum, he really wants to contain the walrider there and i feel like the only solution that he knows is killing those people at the asylum so walrider won't have anymore host. He wanted that thing to die but he got killed instead.
Oh man. Its been a little while since ive seen gameplay of outlast, or played it myself and i don't think i fully grasped the story because i kept dozing off and missing parts of the story. The ending about the player being the host and his actually rather empathetic tone when saying "you don't have to kill yourself" hits really deep... like... dang dude.
I feel like qoute 3 is more so also what he went thru in the asylum as well. The things they did to him to make him how he was. It probably parallels what he’s done before as well
Chris's motives were good and noble, but his methods were what made him the bad guy. Yet at the same time, what works so well about this story is that there really is no good or evil beyond Murkoff. Chris was trying to prevent the Walrider's escape the only immediate way he knew how. The story really shows that in such an emergency, morality may have completely gone out the window, or rather the only moral answer in Chris's mind was to kill the few to save the rest.
I think the reason why he’s like that maybe he had seen someone killing a pig in Afghanistan is ther even pigs in Afghanistan? I don’t know what I know that they have good bread you gotta try afghani bread
Hey friend 🙏 and that was a connection I talked about but didn’t include (def not knowledgeable about Afghanistan customs) but it’s possible. Most definitely ordering afganhi bread.
Very interesting video! I only ever knew a few of the lines he said in the game, so being able to hear his other dialogue was nice. Recently found your channel, I quite like it. I look forward to watching your other videos!!! :D
Really awesome video! I never saw him this way but after your analysis, I could totally believe he thought he was doing what was right. Please continue this series! Would love to see your views on Val, Marta and Knoth from the second game.
His obsession with even Miles Upshur of all people made sense. He has the foresight and planning to realize Miles was probably going to become the Walrider (or the host). If Trager out of anyone else knew about us, what we were doing, and our involvement with Father Martin (and Father Martin's goals), then Chris Walker who was the first person to see us (and stalks us for much longer) most definitely could tell that MIles was becoming the perfect host for the Walrider. Miles learned, read about, or witnessed firsthand (or fell victim to) more than enough of the horrors and proximity to madness needed to activate the Morphogenic Engine, and Chris had to know that Father Martin INTENDED Miles to be a "Witness". Father Martin wanted to unleash the Walrider. I do not doubt for a minute that Chris did what he felt he had to do, and he knew everyone in that facility either couldn't be saved or wasn't worth saving or were otherwise to far gone. The only exception, the only person who might could and should have escaped, was Waylon Park and even he could be considered debatable because for all Chris knew he was just another scumbag who got screwed over by the company (but still a scumbag no less to him, and in the end, Waylon DID escape and Chris only chased him down once.
I was just playing outlast and Chris said this, “I just want to help you.” Do you know what that means? That might not have been the exact words, but I think it was close.
They need to make a Outlast game based on Chris Walker where you play as him. The game could be based on mental health and could start during the war or even after with flashbacks. It could show the struggles he went through and what he went through in Mount Massive Asylum.
I don’t know why my mind brought me to this conclusion, but he reminds me a lot of a mixture of Walter Kovacs (Rorschach) and The Punisher (Frank Castle) with both of their ideologies mushed together. Like the whole saviour complex of getting rid of the dirt but still making more dirt in place of doing it.
plus it’s obvious that Frank has PTSD from serving in Afghanistan or Vietnam whichever storyline you’re reading. Much similar to Chris getting PTSD from it, and how Frank and Walter both see themselves as higher beings saving the world from itself.
And just some food for thought since Chris says “little pig little pig” it’s like as if he’s reciting the Three Little Pigs nursery rhyme, much like a childlike mental state.
I think Chris' ultimate goal was to literally rid the Walrider of any hosts, not save everyone by sparing them of suffering. His "purpose" in his mind was a huge containment protocol, one that starts by eliminating the Walrider's ability to survive. Same principle as burning the fuel for a raging fire, before it spreads. It's all a protocol. As for the other lines, it's most likely a mish-mash of trauma and insanity from both his past and Murkoff's exploits.
I believe that Chris Walker despite turning into a walking killing machine, somewhere into the depths of his mind, he still believes his duty is to stop the real evil.
Hearing his final screams kind of puts me at an unease not gonna lie its always strange seeing something like that feel genuine fear for their life and hearing it
Chris Walker is just an example of how destructive and dangerous it is if a weapon were handle to the wrong person. Chris Walker Himself is a living weapon, it is welded by his Wicked and Insane mind.
I personally think "you were here little pig" might refer to civilians staying back in the homeland while soldiers fight in a foreign country. idk, just seemed fitting considering his military background.
by far the high point of outlast was it's villains. For me, all the scares and the gore and the chases weren't nearly as terrifying as the fact that they were committed by very believable and lifelike characters with real motivations.
