This drummer is different why? He didn't try to impress anybody like most drummer will, he was very consistent, he soloed when he had to briefly. That's part of maturity everybody played as a team.
There is a difference between a drum clinic seminar and actually performing as part of an ensemble. But then sometimes the gig specifically calls for deliberate so-called "overplaying". e.g. Pete Ray Biggin constantly chops the shit out of 35+ year old Level 42 tracks because Mark and the original band members want the current audiences to hear something new each time and not just the same tired old tracks played exactly as they were originally recorded.
This dude is tight in the pocket!! His left hand is like butter! I don’t know who you are buddy but the world needs to see more of you keep up the great work!
Chris Pat, I hope your getting money cause the number of times I've replayed this video and just found it last week. Best cover of the original surpassing Avery Wilson's hands down!
drumming at its finest. I loved the way the instruments sounded with this song. Let’s not forget about the singer who absolutely blew us all away. Extravagantly proud
Nice open hand drumming!!!Also nice representation of the "Gospel chops " style.Just enough chops vs pocket to keep the song groove, and show what you're working with!!!
Nyakz He definitely did the most, all that not needed, and they were forced too. For me it’s just, you ain’t gotta prove you can sing, we know you can sing that’s why you’re behind the mic now sing doc😂🤷🏾♂️
Wow great job from the person that's recording definitely like to see the band of the singer that drummer definitely doing his thing its fire 🔥🔥 I'm a drummer myself I play in my local church 📍I was also taught I'm a pocket drummer myself and he definitely doing his thing
Awright ladies and gentlemen let me explain some shit right now on the real. So, this event is the type of shit that can get a grown ass man like myself married with a lady and kids and then my ass is out the crib for a minute..because when my ass disappears and comes back sweaty AF and the tie is done out a bit with the unbuttoned shirt. She gonna believe when you say “baby…I was watching that drummer destroy that shit?” NOPE! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Fuckin A man! My man out here blowing this up, I could sit and watch this band recite the dictionary for hours folks! 👏🏻
After AVERY WILSON got through singing this, I can’t listen to anyone else singing it. He messed it up for everybody. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 The BAND is on point! 🔥🔥🔥
@Chris Pat Drummers who has mad skills yet very green simultaneously says it's the easiest skill to play pocket. I beg to differ. I've made a living for over 50 years laying pipe/laying lumber/laying wood for a plethora of recording artists/recording groups in over 6 genres, performing in almost every major venue from the largest to the smallest intimate setting (1st gig 5 days before my 18th birthday at the original MSG in NYC (current MSG is its predecessor for almost 20 years) domestic & overseas, traveled the entire world🌎 many times over, along with being band member for Grammys, AMA, BET, Gospel Music Awards, etc. by simply PLAYING POCKET!!! Pocket playing is a unique skill that can captivate listeners as such putting them into a sweet, silky, smooth & enormous trance. Knowing when to hold em & fold em, picking & choosing your battles is the recipe for success. Those that know what I am talking about understands there's a time and place for everything. In general, people will remember more of that drummer putting them in a trance vs showing off WoodShed Mode cluttering every conceivable space. There are limited rudiments anyone can play through the entire drum kit. Knowing when to "show off" will leave listeners salivating for more when it's all said and done. Kudos Chris Pat for showing the true, legitimate and valid "SWEET SCIENCE" of playing drums.
