Hunter. My prayer for you is that you will be continuously thankful for your gifts. Please never take this all for granted, because it is much bigger and more wonderful than you can imagine. Keep at it and when you're learning something always practice the hard things 1st. Honest to goodness, Jascha Heifetz (born today in 1901), was my grandpa's cousin, and I got about 1/15th of his talent. I'm still using it at age 69. Been a musician all my life, but not of your caliber. Have had to work and sweat at it, but it's been worth it.
Bravo to this young man AND bravo to David Ball, who seems to be arousing long lost interest in the organ. Mr Ball's leadership likely lit a spark in the mind of those 'on the fence' on whether or not to take up the organ. I think Mr Ball effort is way more valuable to encouraging young organists than is the AGO. Keep up the great work!!!!
Wow, great playing, and from Memory!!! That’s cool how the organist of the crystal cathedral, err, whoever the gentleman in the suit is, is pulling on and off different stops/ voices. Very awesome!
Thank you, Hunter, for sharing this energetic, heart-felt musical experience. Found this after listening (twice!) to your share from Segerstrom. I lived in OC for decades, and remember both those venues. What a delight for you to be able to "sing out" on the Hazel Wright instrument! Blessings.
Yup, it’s a challenging piece, etc. But what I love, in all of your posted videos, is how you “address” the organ….YOU play the organ, rather than the organ let’s you play it. The organ knows you are in command, and respects that. I know most organists would be telling you to be gentle with instrument…wrong. Take control, be dominant, push it to its limits…..and it will comply. Love that style! You a good man!
Dropped in on your youtube, discovered your ability and I declare you are one of many of yhe type I admire and am proud of your skill. It was awesome. Heard it thru. It was great. So, music always is the language of the heart and in this moment you are a pleasant conversationist. Peace. 😉😇🕊
I see Everyone is having fun with Hazel these days. There are so many to than for this. Hazel was almost a goner to the wind as so many majestic instruments these days.
Hunter you were magnificent! I grew up listening to pipe organ music and since I couldn't afford a pipe organ when I was 16 I asked my parents to buy a Schober Recital kit. I finished it by time I completed High School in 1974. I still have it today and wish I could play half as well as you. Congratulations and wish you all the best for a great career in music.
I can see how thrilling it was to play this organ. You will get a big kick out of playing an organ that's even bigger than this one. I'm talking about the Midmer Losh at Boardwalk Hall with 33,112 pipes!
Amazing man! I wish I could do that AND get to play on an organ like that!!!!🎉🎉 We have so many amazing organs around the country and world, great to know we’ll hopefully continue to have people learning to play so we can continue to listen to the King of instruments 🥲
Not bad at all. Couldn't have done any better myself. Not bad for playing an organ that is foreign to him. I played that instrument back in the mid-1980s at the invitation of former organist at the (then) Crystal Cathedral, Mark Thallander. Quite a thrill for someone who had up to that point only played thee manuals.
Wonderful, now let the boy practice when he needs to as too many churches have very strict rules in place to not let ANYONE practice in their churches!
I dearly wish that I'd been able to play like this at his age, and from memory! Who is this kid and where does he play regularly? I'd love to see and hear more!
Did you pull a Gerre Hancock with the mistake when the d major theme came back in? Repeat three times. Some dam amazing saves playing from memory. Good going
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MXZAg0VIgbI.html It'd be really neat if you could this on that refurbished organ so I could appreciate hearing the difference...lol.
The performance is great, but would have been much greater if guys in the background hadn't chatted so enthusiastically. In the middle of the performance a woman started laughing... very annoying. It is disrespectful to the performer, even if they happen to be his relatives.
