Christian Bale plays Gor the God Butcher in the latest Marvel film Thor: Love and Thunder (2022). Hollywood likes to cast the baddies with British accents, so Christian Bale plays Gor the God Butcher with his natural British accent.
Christian Bale was born in Wales and lived in 15 mostly English cities before he was 15 years old. He is claimed to have a Cockney accent, though some may argue it is more Estuary English.
If you place the London Cockney accent at one end and the modern RP accent at the other, you will find Estuary English sitting comfortably in the middle. EE has become the dominant accent of the South of England. As Londoners have moved out of the capital in search of better housing and cleaner air, they brought their accent with them.
