A good documentary, but sadly spoilt by inappropriate music which detracted from the commentary in places. Hopefully the producers will re edit this documentary and remove the detracting music.
Travel options today allow us flexibility never dreamed of 100 years ago. My grandparents were missionaries in the Congo. That was their calling and they served admirably for many years, even during the Simba rebellion in the 1960's. But that's another story. My mom and uncle had to go to a boarding school in the 1950s which was quite a distance from the mission station. Fortunately there was an American academy for mission children in the Congo. However it meant my mom and uncle saw their parents only once a year. But the pros of a Western education outweighed the cons of a remote mission station as they entered their high school years. As missionaries, you follow your calling and work with what is available for your family. There are sacrifices but there are great rewards. God does not short change His faithful ones.
