A love letter doesn't have to be a straight sequel. BAYONETTA is a love letter to Devil May Cry. Metal Gear Solid/Death Stranding are love letters to 80's action movies. Almost every Tarantino movie is a love letter to old cowboy and samurai movies. You can be original and pay tribute to something else at the same time, and you can be loose with how much to change too, some movies straight up copy scenes but they get away with it because names are different and plot is different. Have you heard of Nosferatu?... A little imagination and originality is all it takes. Assuming permission over someone else's idea to produce and sell it yourself with no approval is just theft. He is absolutely right when he says that people should be grateful to FreshTV since without it Total Drama wouldn't even exist to begin with.
They copyclaim those videos too though, so the people uploading them dont get money off it regardless plus I’m glad they dont take those down, makes my life as a fan a lot easier lol

Didn’t realize that the voice of Chris and Jude was so out of touch with the fan base... let’s be real, total dramarama isn’t loved by the fans, almost everyone has stopped keeping tabs on it because it isn’t the same anymore. It’s just sad to see that companies don’t care about what their consumers want, they just care about what’s easy to make and produce. Hopefully this was an eye opening experience to them, that making more of the original total drama is what the fans actually want. This should be a lesson to them. Cause guaranteed this wouldn’t have happened if Total Dramarama wasn’t made and another season of the original was made instead.
Actually there are fans who like drama rama me for example just because a few people whine about the fart episode doesn’t mean that every total drama fan hates it and he is not wrong the show is doing well at least ratings wise

I actually didn't mind total dramarama while it wasn't anything that blew me away it was good it gives me a couple laughs and when I'm stoned the only thing that matches it is the original total drama
The WAY he kept saying "little fan art" and how he's acting as if like it was some shit work done in a basement in 1 day is just absurd. I can't believe how lost he is with the fans.
What angers me the most is not the fact that they took down the video but the fact that they waited THIS LONG to reach out to Blue, even when the trailer was out for MONTHS and had over millions of views. He worked so hard to make this project happen, it's just all so devastating in the end. Oh, and one more very obvious thing: no one asked for a daycare spin-off.

Fresh TV could've copyrighted the videos, take the money for the visualizations, and go home. Taking the video down is just a very mean thing to do to a guy who is probably one of the biggest and most talented TD fans there is. Not cool.

It’s not OK for some people to get away with it while other people get docked. The studio is just jealous that Blu gained traction and buzz to the total drama universe. My biggest thing is - how was this spin off hurting Total Drama or their franchise? It wasn't, and if anything, it only gave them even more FREE viewtime and relevance... Further, why did they WAIT until the episode came out to force them to cancel it? So you made them waste possibly hundreds of hours on this project and let them think it was okay until they actually finished it and put it out there? We didn't turn against Fresh TV. I think the last time I checked, 800k people viewed the total of TDI whilst total drama reunion got views into the billions. Fresh production company has a long history of being shitty and unprofessional to their fanbase. I remember the official tumblr page would entertain critiques and hate mail and also call the fans whiney babies unprompted.

Potenza, you say you hear the fans, yet you don't even know that majority of the fans hate Total Dramarama or think that total Dramarama is wasted potential for what an actual total drama show should be. I completely understand where theyre coming from. I think whats really upsetting is that they arent listening to what the fans actually want. We WANT something like total drama reunion, and since something like it hasnt been promised from fresh tv for a long time now, total drama reunion was what we had, and really looked forward to, and that enthusiasm has actually driven it into reality. Thats the power of the passion that this fandom has. At the end, he expresses how he doesn't want us to have this in-group fighting, and instead "work with fresh tv". Starting off the video with referring to the reunion as “little fan art” hurts with the reunion having over 1 million views. It was an homage to how much we all love the show. How Fresh TV is handling it is disgusting. I use to look up to you so much too... At least we got one last episode to fulfill our love for total drama island.

@@DrJoker-bm7po The funny thing is all of those had issues with the companies. I think Toei and funimation had issues with dbz abridged for a long while. It just got so big they couldn't kill it off. Fresh TV probably doesn't want it out there then fans hounding them to make it. Its cold but companies aren't here to be your friends. They choose what product they want to put out. You then speak with you wallet by not buying/watching it.
@@granddidit It is an animated fanfiction. As long as you're not making any money off of it, it's fine. Fanfiction is okay to write, most writers see it as a compliment. FreshTV handled this poorly, and really they only took it down because it garnered a lot of attention. By that logic, people who draw fanart are 'stealing' people's characters. No. Fanfiction and fanart are great was to practice your skills. By that logic people who draw fanart are also 'stealing' the characters when in reality companies such as Sega for example actively encourage people to make their own fangames and fanfictions.

I understand that several messages in this video needed to be said, but the way it was addressed just isn't it. This video sounds incredibly patronizing and passive-aggressive to fans who are (justifiably) frustrated at how everything went down. FreshTV was well within their rights to take down Total Drama Reunion, there's no arguing about that. However, it's incredibly disappointing. Shows thrive on fandoms. Fanart, fanvids, and fanfiction help the fandom, and thus the show thrive. TDR was nothing more than a fanfiction turned animation via so much passion, love, and hard work. While I agree that things are complicated with rights (and I don't agree with the patreon that was put up), it's a sad that FreshTV couldn't find a way to make this work with Blu Productions in a way that the team would get no monetary compensation for it. Additionally, you could have done something about this "little project" much earlier, and you didn't. It's really a shame that FreshTV didn't invest in this project and support it, given the state of the world and the insane amount of interest the fans had in it. When TikTok-ers produced Ratatouille the Musical, Disney embraced it and leaned in, and fans were left feeling like they were able to make a change in the world, that companies were listening to them. By taking down TDR, and giving us this wholly disappointing and aggravating response, they've shown that they clearly aren't listening to any of their fans. Though, this doesn't come as much of a surprise, seeing how invested they are in 'Total Dramarama', even though it's panned among the original fanbase. To all the disappointed fans, I sympathize with you. I watched TDI from the very beginning, and was a huge fan. I was aware of this project and was so excited to see it come to fruition. The first episode was incredible, and I could clearly see how much love and effort went into this project. However, I implore everyone to stop sending hate comments and death threats on Twitter, and start using this energy to become productive. If you want to call out this decision, make your voice heard, but do it in a way that won't have a negative impact on anyone's wellbeing. Death threats just ain't it, y'all. They do nothing to help our case. What else can I say, FreshTV? Disappointed, but not surprised.
this is so well put! If they were upset with their characters being used, I would have much rather them copywrite strike the video than request it be taken down. I feel like they are doing this in case they might someday want to create a reboot, and the decision just feels selfish.
No they were not in there right at all wtf no profit was being consciously made from reunion . They took it down solely to be dicks and build up hype for the new season. Total drama reunion is essentially a well animated fanfic so no fresh didn’t have the right to take it down.

This was a completely transformative project with original assets, actors, and an original story. If Robot Chicken parodies, ytps (which use ORIGINAL FOOTAGE mind you) and other fan series’s on RU-vid can be allowed and thrive, this should too. We will agree once you take down every wattpad fanfic about this, every tumblr, pinterest, and youtube total drama account that holds the character of a character from the show. Take down every tumblr post about total drama. Take down every Pinterest total drama meme. Every deviant art fanart page and creation. Every youtube video that makes edits or uses clips from your show. Not to forget the countless channels that repost your shows. And so, so much more. The fans want the show. Total drama. They want their characters doing something other than whining or making a bathroom joke. Total drama reunion was just like any other thing I listed. Fan creations. If Total Drama is over, then why are they taking down fan creations. You ignore your fans, silence your fans, and then victimize yourselves when they get mad. No other company does this. You were even offered all the profit. What could you lose from this. You bring more fans back to the show and make tons of money. You really blew this.

Yeah... No... Something could have been said way back when the trailer garnered almost a million view. Something could have been said when all of these "Little Fan Arts" (which, btw, not the best way to describe that) that we're obviously addressing a full production was flooding into your inbox. Something could have been said when there were interviews and stuff. Something could have been said when clips from this were being previewed. Something could have been said six/eight months ago when people got began this initiative on their own, with their own time, own money. It's your guys property. You guys could have asked them to stop at any point during production. We as the fandom would have likely understood at that point. But you didn't. You didn't do that. You waited till getting close to the end of this, you waited till the first episode was released before you tell them to stop. When 3/4 of the work is done. I will also love Total Drama... They didnt steal the characters and claim them as their own. This series was just a love letter to a show that made their childhood; a fan project. They even thanked the original creators for making the total drama series. Fresh TV doesnt care about "copyright", they just didnt want any competition

@@weneedhim526 blu didn’t steal any of the characters. plagiarism would apply if blu productions tried passing off the total drama characters as their own, but they clearly didn’t. they credited fresh tv for the characters and said the reunion was inspired by the show. as far as i know, the ideas they came up with were their own. i agree that fresh tv and christian potenza had the right to tell blu to stop since total drama is their property, but i considered the reunion to be a form of video fanfiction. fanfiction isn’t plagiarism. also, by my comment, i meant that the way christian was addressing the situation made him sound like an ass. he could have worded his message much better. blu even put out a statement saying that they’re not angry about the situation; they knew something like this would happen, and they addressed this video. they said they agree with nearly everything potenza said except for the plagiarism comment.

On behalf of all Canadians, I apologize for this guy's arrogance... I'm not sure if the network is making him say this stuff, or if he really means what he's saying, but either way... not cool, dude.
You know what says a lot, is that the huge band Gorillaz was going to make a music video for Rhinestone Eyes. It gets cancelled. HOWEVER, a very dedicated fan took the storyboard of what the music video was supposed to be and spent SIX YEARS animating the music video because they saw true potential in the band’s idea to be a music video. This fan took their idea and ran with it and created a masterpiece. You know what Gorillaz did? They left a comment on their video and gave them a “👊”. They never tried taking it down, no copyright claims, nothing. And that was more of any kind of “copying” than anything but it still wasn’t!! They took the storyboard and made an awesome music video for their beloved band and that band saw that and was proud. This hurts me to see this behavior towards fans because they just wanted to give remembrance to a great show. Not make a full production to dismiss anything. This honestly shows how insecure Fresh TV is about their own content.

This now makes sense after the news of two seasons of Total Drama Island being released soon. Probably was animated and being set for release way before Blu Productions did their reunion thing.
Blu pretty much won this entire drama Sure he may have had his show taken down because of this guy but later on Chris’ VA which is the guy that was explaining a bunch of BS in this video would have several people losing respect for Fresh TV and Chris’ VA would be exposed for being a dangerous predator So Chris being a prisoner in Total Drama Reunion really did portray Christian’s future now did it
So it's okay to do fanart but if I get a million likes or views I need to take it down? Because I'm not good enough to get that accomplished? Yeah, you're within your right. Whatever. But he worked on that project for a YEAR. FreshTV had ALL THAT TIME to take it down. But no. They decided to do it when he finished and had over a million views and 111k likes. And "I'm the voice of these characters"... CHRISTRIAN POTENZA did you know the fan made VA saw you as his idol when he was a kid?! HE LOVED WATCHING TOTAL DRAMA ISLAND AS A CHILD. He literally practice in the mirror to get your voice right! But what do you do? You basically wipe him aside. Adam and the VAs loved Total Drama, they loved it so much they wanted to make something for you and all the fandom. "But it got too popular so its plagiarized".... that's a bad excuse. And using "these times" as another thing? Yeah, if these are such bad times FreshTV wouldn't have done what they did. They should have been like "wow, this is a great idea! Give it to us and well do an official release!" Like that would have made 2021 an AMAZING year! FREAKING AMAZING! But no. They killed it. All because they have "total dramarama" which is a kids show to an audience who has probably never seen Total Drama Island or 6Teen. Just... he really shouldn't have made this video. He should have stayed out of it and let the whole situation die out. Such a bad move. He's gonna get a lot of backlash for this.... :/

He's making alot of points but the project going down still isnt right. Sure, it being monitized is kinds touchie. But at the same time, its a fan series. Many fandoms make high quality fan series that match the show almost closely. So this going down, while it makes COMLLETE sense, doesnt feel right. Theres alot going against CN/Fresh whoever right now I dont support the hate, but if they wont make the show the fans might aswell. Saying dramarama is even close to the orginal series in quality is just a lie
Not kinda touchie, it being monetized is were the legal issues crop up and give fresh a solid case. Without that, they'd have to fight alot more and we likely would've gotten a half season before fresh hired blu
Makes a whole lotta sense now when you realize they’ve been working on new seasons. Still disappointed reunion got removed but they didn’t want it to take attention away from what they were doing
How selfish, the reunion series was supposed to be a full on artistic take on what happens in the future. It doesn’t strike copyright laws due to it being under an artistic interpretation, an entirely different thing to plagiarism. Funny they call it a “little fanart” when it’s pretty much intimidating an entire company. Screw them. Screw their little insults, I think the creator should keep going. Get it to a bigger production, get it bigger than the original series, the hype gave them more ratings, and it’s not fair to our new creator. It’s not the creator’s fault that the total drama team hasn’t come up with anything good. Total drama kids? Sucks. Dramarama? What are you smoking??? Talk about letting down the people who gave you so much success, who knew Chris would become real someday.
He is acting as if we are children. "Little fan art" like people spend hours,days and sometimes weeks on putting their amazing work and art skills in fanart and him not seeing that says everything. The fan project was AND IS such an fantastic idea with so many exciting things. The fact he thinks he has the right to say "turning against fresh tv" is ridiculous.

it was a parody, love letter even. it was helping to bring life back to an amazing series, that lost its energy after years. people worked so hard on that series. it wasn’t an exact ripoff, it wasn’t even following the original format. the show did bring a community, which was falling apart, which total drama reunion was going to bring back. your attitude is quite painful to watch, they aren’t taking this away from you, you could’ve easily voiced chris in that series but obviously “you wouldn’t actually do that”. like i said, it was a parody. the animation for that series was excellent and so much effort was put in. they were trying to save the fandom, and you helped to ruin that. i hope you know that. ps. total dramarama was shit.
To be fair, Fresh TV's reason for taking it down was rather justifiable, as it ended up being a full 24 minute episode rather than just a silly short, but my question is what's the crew gonna do now? They've planned an entire season but with all of it going out of the window now I'm curious how they'll end up.
You have the right to take down Total Drama Reunion, sadly. I don’t think people should go after Tom or Jennifer, thats not fair, and it never will be. It’s their show, and they have the right to take it down. I love Total Drama Reunion, probably MORE than the next guy, but that doesn’t mean people should send death threats to people. I don’t see Reunion as a plagiarized production, but it’s sad to see what Blu and everybody else worked so hard on leave forever.
True but what Fresh TV doing is unfair cause hella people are reuploading videos from total drama that fresh tv just let it go and it dumb tbh and Fresh TV doesn't want to give the fans what they want
There's Total Drama Osakyi Island, Total Drama Adventure, Total Drama Odyssey, Total Drama Twin Peaks, etc. They even had already-established characters, but they were never taken down.

Hi! This is a 10 year old TD fan here! I was really excited to see the fan-made season, it's reallya shame that we didn't get to see what they could've come up with. Fresh isn't understanding how many days they've ruined!!
