James Montgomery Boice was the pastor at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia for many years and passed away in 2000 as a result of cancer. Many of his sermons have been adapted for print and published as expository commentaries.

Roland Baiton first time published in 1950. Breathtaking bio on Luther. Personally, I went from Roman Catholic to Catholic Anglican. These days reading Sproul and Ramsey.

I enjoy the Book of Common Prayer, I was gifted a lovely copy with a red cover. My Lutheran Church has a similar liturgy.

Thanks for sharing these books! I'll have to check a few of them out. And as mentioned earlier in the comments, Baiton wrote the Luther biography. It is really excellent.

hey, Grand Rapids Michigan is my home town, very neat to hear it still is publishing quality literature.

Added the Luke commentary to my wish list. Have the major (affordable) academic ones and a handful of the obscure ones (usually doctoral theses) as well, but I'm not sure I have one that focuses on Reformation thought. Currently reading through a Catholic commentary, so it might be interesting to follow up with a Reformation one.

Recent subscriber and enjoying the content and diversity. You do seem to be busy, don't you? I really like the selections and visibility you give to these books and their authors. In this age of information, we seem to be swimming in things to such an exte.nt it becomes difficult to find things that truly feed our interests. Knowing these titles are out there does help. I have done some looking around at the publishing websites but it looks like I need to do so more often. Thanks for the information and the great attitude.

Imagine my shock when I hear the word "Baha'i." I grew up in that religion. I am currently agnostic but that brought back a lot of memories.(I thought the background dog barking was cute. 10/10. Would bork again.)

I always enjoy these theological videos, Peg, even when (or perhaps especially when) you include that naughty schismatic stuff. 😉 Since you're fond of IVP, do you own their set of Bible Dictionaries? They're fun and informative to browse through, and the price isn't TOO outrageous. I prefer the Anchor Dictionary and Commentaries, but they sure are a pain in the wallet. 😬 Hope you and Martine (and the talkative dogs) are well!

Always a delight to hear from you, Bryan! I have just about everything else from IVP BUT those dictionaries...I have the complete Ancient Christian Commentary series and am a subscriber to their new Reformation Christian Commentary series. Also the Ancient Christian Texts series. But no dictionaries! But yeah, $70 a pop? Can't swing that! Anyway, glad I could bring you a smile with my naughty schismatics. ;)

Great video. Enjoy the theology discussion. I was raised Catholic and like your journey back to your Lutheran roots, I am returning to my roots. Can you point me to presses or online bookshops that do have a good foundational Catholic selection that would serve a similar purpose as the books you have found for the Lutheran faith?

Oh yes, most definitely. Check out: Ignatius Press, Cluny Media, and Paulist Press. Those are three solid Catholic publishers. I particularly love the design and feel of Cluny editions. Happy browsing, friend!
