I was one of those that keep asking, and asking for Helloween and this song. And I thank you very much for this. Helloween is by far my favorite band, top 1! Kiske, the vocal in this album/song was only 19 years old when he recorded they recorded this. He is truly amazing and gifted. My birthday is next 27th, and this counts a lot as a present. I'm really happy. Thank you Vin, thank you Sori.

Helloween is the greatest European Power Metal band ever in my opinion. Helloween has many great songs and albums, but Walls Of Jericho and especially The Keeper Of The Seven Keys and Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part 2 are their MASTERPIECES. I remember buying the cassette tapes of these albums back in the late 80's as a little kid and listened to them many times. Over thirty years later I still think they are some of the greatest music I have ever listened to. The lead singer of this song recently got back in Helloween for a Pumpkings United tour after being gone from the band since 1994. One of the guitar players on this song also came back recently for the same tour after being gone from the band since 1989. Both of these members returning to Helloween was a huge dream come true. Most of us never thought that it would happen. It took them almost thirty years to reunite together and I am beyond excited that it finally happened. I would definitely recommend more reactions from Helloween. They are up there with Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath to how amazing they are and what they have done for Heavy Metal music. Helloween's music, especially in 80s, was always filled with messages of light and hope (after facing darkness). Without these two superb albums of Helloween, Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1 &2, I might not be alive now.

Michael Weikath who wrote this song told in some interviews that the Keeper is Jesus Christ. 👍🏻

I've always believed this song to be a metaphor for the internal struggle of every person against the temptation of sin. In that sense, each and everyone of us are keepers of the seven keys [the seven deadly sins]. Each and everyone of us have the ability to commit sin [the keys to evil], therefore we must throw that temptation away [throw the key away into the sea] and thus destroy Satan by cutting off his source of power, our evil. That is why when you throw away the keys, you remove the power the sin has over you and thereby kill Satan. Satan tries to tempt you into evil [not throwing the last key] because he knows he will lose his power over you if you do. The reason the song is often using "You" instead of Jesus or certain other figures is because the song is clearly referring to the the listener. You are the only hope of your own victory against Satan.

And to think that he was barely 19 when he recorded this, among the greatest heavy metal vocalist of all time, up there with dickinson, tate, halford and dio.

This album is pure gold. The fathers of powermetal... They just have everything from technical skills and a monster of a vocalist. Unfortunately I know a lot of people that don't like this at all for some odd reason.

Helloween just wasn't the same when Kai Hansen left and formed Gamma Ray. We need a Gamma Ray reaction at some point.

Now that you guys have reacted to a few Helloween songs it is time to check out the band Gamma Ray. One of the lead guitar players and songwriters from Helloween's first three albums Kai Hansen formed Gamma Ray after he left Helloween. In my opinion he was the most important member ever in Helloween. Even though Helloween still have some great songs and albums after he left the band, in my opinion they have never been as amazing as they were when he was in the band. I would recommend Rebellion In Dreamland for your first Gamma Ray reaction.

Helloween are the godfathers of power metal. Michael Kiske (the singer) is also a professed Christian and this song was meant to be a Biblical allegory.

Hi, I'm catholic and I really enjoy your reaction! Very instructive. Helloween is not a christian metal band, that's true. But they are catholic and that is shown on their lyrics. Time, a song from them that is explicitly christian. And of course Laudate dominum is really christian too. It is in Latin, but it can be easily translated with google, for example.

Also something that needs to be mentioned - if my Memory serves correctly - the Drummer on this Album, who IMO ins really underated for his contribution to Power Metal and his drumming style, ended up comitting suicide by jumping in front of a Train in Germany.
