Year 2000 was one of the best year in pop music. Almost every song was an original hit and the video clips were impressive. They just don't make stuff like this today.

This song was incredibly HUGE back when it was released. Most artist now could only dream of getting half the radio airplay this song received at the time. Its a footnote in the late 90s/early 00's pop explosion. A true pop classic.

....well.....I did the Music licensing for the 'Radio Remix' of this tune (2000-2001), and it was an ALL-OUT-WAR! ...Seven People 'wrote' the tune, and they were all fighting, for the biggest piece of the royalties! ...every Day was a HEADACHE for me...just for the 'lil Pop ditty! ...ha-HAA!

Its hard for me to disagree with you afrikan08, because I agree, I think the music & music videos made to attract kids are provocative and have suggestive lyrics. But when I was a kid, I didn't pay attention to the words of the song. I had no clue what the song meant. I just wanted to have her hair and clothes and be able to sing and dance the way she did. I didn't look at it that way when I was 11, 12, 13. It's the parent's job to try to keep their children away from these music videos if they choose to. But the sad thing is,music now is SO much worse than music was then. This outfit she's wearing is modest compared to what is worn now.

I always thought this video stood out as one of the best of its time. They didn’t take any shot for granted, the vision was executed with perfection, and it kept you engaged the entire time. The choreography doesn’t feel forced, just clean, natural and groovy. The patterns and geometry are gorgeously arranged, and the vibe of the video is warm, sweet and inviting. A+

A lot of the pop vids were like this back then, between maybe 96;97-ish to about 2002;03-ish. This is the era of music videos that were the best and had the best examples of the dance fashion of the time period. After that pop music videos became waaay more slutty. Thats why those are the days I miss.

I remember seeing the “making of” video of this when it first came out. The director told Christina he had a suprise at the end but for her to keep going whenever it happened. Turned out she had no idea the confetti thing was happening at the end. I love it. It’s one of my favorite parts of the video

What do you mean what they made them saying a reality check they’ve been singing songs like this for generations if you look at the songs that were out in the 60s and that they’ve always had songs like this as a kid reading didn’t think much of it because I didn’t think much of itwas like 18. I think this came out. I mean it is not a terrible song for the sing at 18. You listen to the music nowadays they’re even worse. "Genie in a Bottle" got my attention. "What a Girl Wants" made me shake my ass. "I Turn to You" had me mesmerized. But this song... ooh, girl! It was with this music video that she proved to me that she was a more than a pop phenomenon and was here to stay. It is, to this today, one of my favourite videos of all time. And may I just say that I miss the glossy, futuristic sets of music videos from the late '90s to the early '00s. I miss them _so_ much!

This video will always hold a special place in my heart. Christina is one of my favorite artists and my mom was a huge fan as well. My mom, who was battling multiple myeloma cancer, was in the hospital at the time and I remember I had recorded the “making the video” on vhs so that she could watch it. One of the times that I visited and stayed the night with her in the hospital, she had me play that videotape over and over because she loved the song so much. She passed in December of that year, but whenever I hear this song or see the video I remember those happy moments I had with my Mom. Thank you Christina.

@@lovelife6299 wellllll..... the singing part britney chose a different technique and xtina chose a more chesty powerful technique. So it is just left up to who thinks which is more pleasant. The one thing christina litterally couldn't ever compete with was the dance breaks (also because she sang live and couldnt dance as hard as britney). Xtinia gives you a beautiful live performance but britney gives productions with dance but uses a backtrack. Although both of their voices are sounding a little rougher now although they are getting older and arnt in their primes.all I'm trying to say I love them both equally because one is a vocalist and one is a performer. You cant compare them really.
