honestly i think the album is one of the best so far this year and in her general career. i really think liberation is an amazing album and really deserved a lot more. unless it’s with you is my favorite. deserve being the weakest in my opinion. (liberation is her second best album in my opinion. stripped being her best. stripped>liberation>back to basics.)
so side note on back to basics for me and why i think liberation and stripped is better, back to basics is pretty amazing, but at points its so boring and hard to continue listening. i dont care about the length of it, that many people did not like. but compared to liberation and stripped, it cant hold your attention.
asava17 bionic comes after back to basics for me. Stripped>Liberation>Back To Basics>Bionic>Self Titled>Lotus (stripped and liberation are very close though, i have a feeling once stripped ages even more, liberation will come through as her best.)
asava17 well i admit i dont have the connection most people do since i was born in 2003, a year after the album came out. i just got into christina after fall in line since demi is my favorite, so i wanted to give her favorite a chance, and i loved all of it. stripped is the first album that wasnt from 2010 beyond that i actually liked, so i kept listening to all of them and fell in love with christina. she’s literally the previous generations demi and i love that. but, for the younger christina fans like me, now have their “stripped” with “liberation”.
As a die hard Christina fan, I'm really happy you gave this a chance. I'm also glad to hear that for the most part you enjoyed the album. She's hinted recently that another album isn't too far off into the future and that she wont take another long hiatus. So if that's the case, I hope you continue to review her new work!
She has one of the best discoveries because she has the voice to sing anything. She doesn’t follow the formula pop routine the basic girls do. She’s a true artist. I mean your sitting judging and artists music while she’s on top of the world.
Fun fact: I liked Accelerate when it got released. It has actuallt grown on me since then. I also would give it a 7 Best: Like I Do ft. Goldlink, Sick Of Sitting, Fall In Line ft. Demi Lovato, Twice, Unless Its With You, Accelerate ft. Ty Dolla $ign and 2 Chainz Worst: Dreamers
Not sure I agree about "Fall In Line". I admire the message and I really like both of the singers, but I feel that the production and lyrics are just too awkward and clumsy to have the impact they're going for. Plus I feel like it could have gone after a more specific and relevant type of misogyny instead of the "women should look pretty and not think" variety that plenty of empowerment anthems have already tackled.
Maybe this is worth a listen even though accelerate is one of the worst things ive heard in a while since ty dolla sign is hilariously bad on it and the music video was disgusting
Can someone please explain what ( vocal production ) means? And why the critic keeps mentioning that producers don't know how to produce for belters like ( Christina,Demi,etc....) ?
No. Nonono. This is just simply a terrible album. She NEEDS to do better than this. Fall in line and think twice were great. Rest? Not so much, in fact, not at all.
Christina Aguilera's discography is NOT messy, she just renews herself in every album and doing something different, that's being original, there's no singer that can sing all the genres that Christina has sang in her life. And BTW Bionic is a masterpiece, people just doesn' t get the concept. And Liberation is the best album of 2018, and definitely a 10!!! She is been more vulnerable and emotional and real than ever before!!!!
Javier Méndez Pérez Yep, thank you. Xtina's voice is SO VERSATILE, she can tackle any genre: Pop, R&B/Soul, AC(Adult Contemporary), even elements of Hip Hop & Rock. Also surprised at how well Reggae works well for her. "RIGHT MOVES" is my fav track right now.
liberation is a solid strong album. She displays her versatility and the different textures and tones of her voice. She did a great job with this album. It's fresh sounding and original.
Julie Keast her songs like fall in line and sick of sittin says it all, means she doesnt care about sales and charts whats important for her is to release songs that she likes to sing. Shes an artist/singer and not a bubble gum popstar anymore
Wow haha, I haven't watched your videos for quite some time, honestly just because I forgot about your channel, but it's funny that we still don't agree at all haha... To me, Sick of Sittin' is by far the biggest album filler, Accelerate is worse and Fall in Line also gets a regular skip from me - even though I love Demi and Christina - because Fall in Line's production just sounds bad, it sounds like it's forcing a 2011 track into a 2018 mould with the dubsteppy, robotic production. I honestly would've preferred it to be orchestral because it honestly doesn't fit at all with both of these women's natural, raw talent. Pipe, Right Moves, Masochist (great 80's influence here haha), and definitely Deserve are the only tracks that really make this album worth the listen. As far as the interludes go; Liberation could've been skipped and feels weird because it's the exact music used for a promo video on her RU-vid channel. Searching for Maria feels at its place and is great imo! Dreamers is soooo cringy, I know that dreaming and stuff is like a huge deal in America, but I honestly feel like it's waaaay too feel-good and borders on sappy, definite skip. I Don't Need It Anymore is indeed also a skip, because it feels unfinished and just as a way for Christina to show her vocals even more, which shouldn't be necessary since the album is filled with big vocals. The other tracks - Maria, Twice, Like I Do and Unless It's With You - are good songs, but no standout tracks. So overall, I would and might buy this album but only for 9 out of 15 tracks and I would regularly skip the other 6 tracks, which is a lot.

I had low expectations for this and I wasn't surprised by this. I like a few songs off this but I can do without this Sorry Christina, it's a no for me
The Dreamers (skit? interlude?) was some high quality throwback cringe. At the end I was half expecting to hear "I wanna be President... Mommy, what's a President?"
I like this album. The start is really good but it falls off after Deserve. Twice is bland and boring while Accelerate is trash. The last 3 songs are kinda forgettable but I like them. Sick of Sittin, Maria, Fall in Line, Like I Do, Deserve and Pipe are actually really good songs. B2B>Stripped>Liberation=Bionic>Christina Aguilera>Lotus Back to Basics is definitely her best album. Disc 1 is pop perfection even if disc 2 is a tad boring
Rafael Aviles tasteless. Twice is such a beautiful piece of art. The harmonies. The message. Her voice! And right moves is one of the best bop's of that album. I love the reggae vibes.
JustME It's my opinion. Twice is practically a carbon copy of Walk Away, the melody on that song is far superior. Her vocals are better too Rafael Aviles The lyrics are meaningful I guess but nothing Christina hasn't done 10 times before. She seems to love singing piano ballads. Not a bad thing but there are so many better songs she has done in this style. E.g. Beautiful, You Lost Me, Walk Away, Hurt etc. Hell even Unless It's With You is a better piano ballad
@TSC gaming: Ummm, NOOOOO! I am a 50-year-old man who had a major love with REAL MUSIC MY ENTIRE LIFE! I know good music when I hear it, so YOU CAN'T TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT MUSIC. I got 50 years on it. What do you have? "Liberation" is GARBAGE! The production is HORRIBLE. The "songwriting" is ATROCIOUS! Serious, there is NOTHING on this project that I could see me playing on repeat... or care to log into my permanent memory bank.

Yes, it is MY opinion, MY right to have it, MY right to express it wherever I choose. I would not even waste my time trying to "make" you or anyone feel the way that I do. I am NOT going to belabor the issue with you because it's really not serious. Aguilera is a vocal powerhouse. There is no disputing that. HOWEVER, vocal greatness does NOT automatically make for great recordings... and unfortunately, "Liberation" proves it. I remember a loooong time ago (around 2002 or so), when Aguilera said that it was RCA's (her label) decision for her to go pop route of her 1999 debut. In THAT PARTICULAR CASE, the LABEL was WISE to promote and market her that way. THAT project was EXCELLENT from beginning to end. The singles selection were SMART and MEMORABLE ones. Great stuff! UNFORTUNATELY, around 2002 or so, when she had a very public and ugly breakup with her boyfriend at the time, she flipped her music script to the extreme. Funny how after all of the UNNECESSARY drama and foolishness surrounding that ordeal, she decided "ALL OF SUDDEN" to do a 180 on her public persona and her musical direction... and both have significantly suffered since then. She has bought into the hype of her "diva" status, which is nothing new and original. For the last 20 years, virtually every female "singer" deems HERSELF a "diva" DESPITE putting out crappy projects, haven't paid any dues, and/or able to substain or achieve major popularity and/or music sales, or failing to achieve LONGEVITY in the music business.
