Every morning at around 5 a.m for a few years now, I sit in the quiet of my living room with a cup of coffee and listen to this song. Every morning. It means so much to me because I love it for so long now. It feels like it has seen so much of me through the years (my cheerful and lighthearted mornings and the desperate mornings I prayed to God to please finally kill me) and is still there for me. Your voice is like the voice of an old friend for me. It is the voice of hope for me, that I will still be there tomorrow, in the morning, with my cup of coffee and your song and will make it through another day. I am so deeply thankful. Since english is not my first language, I hope you can understand me nonetheless.
I've heard many renditions of this song over many years, but this is hands down the best. The tempo, voice and open tuning all come together perfectly, and the video is done tastefully in monochrome. Bravo.
As a 62 year old who spends a lot of time in Scotland and has heard many versions of this, this is the best-the one that touches me the most. Well done, and thank you. You should release it.
There is nothing more beautiful than true simplicity. With your voice and your guitar you don't need anything else. Your interpretation is beautiful.. it is fresh air for the soul. Thank you !!!
Keep Singing like a songbird and Playing that lovely Guitar, from Newfoundland Canada ( Lots of history and home of many many Irish Descendants for hundreds of years ) ty!! Please Post more!!
Oh the summertime is coming And the trees are sweetly blooming And the wild mountain thyme Grows around the blooming heather Will ye go, Lassie go? And we'll all go together To pluck wild mountain thyme All around the blooming heather Will ye go, Lassie go? I will build my love a bower Near yon' pure crystal fountain And on it I will pluck All the flowers of the mountain Will ye go, Lassie go? And we'll all go together To pluck wild mountain thyme All around the blooming heather Will ye go, Lassie go? If my true love she were gone I would surely find another To pluck wild mountain thyme Grows around the blooming heather Will ye go, Lassie go? And we'll all go together To pluck wild mountain thyme All around the blooming heather Will ye go, Lassie go?
The very first time I heard this song, it was sung by the Byrds back in the 60's. I have been collecting renditions of it, every since. Singularly, one of the most beautiful pieces ever written and sung. Ms. Parker's rendition? .... simple S T U N N I N G ... and I thank her for this video and chance to hear it once more.
I just came across this version of Wild Mountain Thyme and was just blown away by how beautiful it is! Truly my new favorite! (And now listening to your entire collection!)
Christine, I have listened to several versions of "Wild Mountain Thyme" and I have to say that your version is the one that has transmitted the most to me, it is the one that I like the most. Thanks for your video. Greetings from Valencia, Spain. ;o)
Just introduced today to this song by The Corries. Searched for other versions and landed here for my second time to hear it. Wasn’t disappointed. Very good.
Wow just found this rendition of one of my favorite Irish songs - Van Morrison's version has been my go to version. But this is perfection! Love your voice and this version!
@@ChristineParkerMusic Christine, both you and Sarah Calderwood stand out as very high quality renditions of "Wild Mountain Thyme" compared to the "rest." 💓
I'm on a bit of a Wild Mountain Thyme chase here on RU-vid and this is indeed one of the best. It has a swing to it which I like! I also like that it's still simple and clear without too much instrumentation. Never heard of Christine Parker before but I have subscribed & will check out more.
Christine, with your version of this song, you have clearly stirred the hearts of a great many people. Was this at all surprising to you? Many thanks for the music!
Beautiful rendition of one of the world's great songs. I love the open tuning. I play it just like that myself. Love the tone on the guitar as well. Well done, my friend.
So so good! I love the chords you use; just beautiful in the simple progression- means it doesn't take focus from your voice.Yours is my favourite cover of this song on RU-vid. You have a big fan in Australia and all my friends I share this with think you are something too x
love your version of my new favourite song. Found it because I was wanting to learn it and now I have to do the open tuning too! As a recording engineer the single mic and the church acoustics was perfect for your voice and guitar...nicely placed, great choice of mic and setting! High pitched sound supposed to be crickets but comes out a little harsh and I would remove it if you can. Other than that wow...the bass and highs of your guitar are wonderful...mix with your voice is spot on!
Christine, thanks for this video! I heard this song in Ireland in 2014 and thought the melody was beautiful, but couldn't make out the words to find it on the net. Heard it by happenstance today and jumped on here to find a version I liked. This was hands down the best! Beautiful voice, and great guitar work. What tuning? Keep it up!
Thanks - glad you enjoyed it! I arranged it in the standard open tuning of DADGAD, but tuned down a whole step from that, so the actual tuning I used was CGCFGC, which created a really deep and resonant sound. Cheers!
Absolutely gorgeous rendition of this song, especially love the open tuning, it's in C but not open C tuning...any hints for a guitar player on an isolated farm in Australia.
Will Ye Go Lassie Go The Corries O the summer time has come And the trees are sweetly bloomin' The wild mountain thyme Grows around the bloomin' heather Will ye go, lassie, go? And we'll all go together To pull wild mountain thyme All around the bloomin' heather Will ye go, lassie, go? I will build my love a bower By yon cool crystal fountain And 'round it I will pile All the wild flowers o' the mountain Will ye go, lassie, go? And we'll all go together To pull wild mountain thyme All around the bloomin' heather Will ye go, lassie, go? I will range through the wilds And the deep glen sae dreary And return wi' their spoils To the bower o' my dearie Will ye go, lassie, go? And we'll all go together To pull wild mountain thyme All around the bloomin' heather Will ye go, lassie, go? If my true love she'll not come Then I'll surely find another To pull wild mountain mountain thyme All around the bloomin' heather Will ye go, lassie, go? And we'll all go together To pull wild mountain thyme All around the bloomin' heather Will ye go, lassie, go? And we'll all go together To pull wild mountain thyme All around the bloomin' heather Will ye go, lassie, go?
